Lindhal is a very enthusiastic teacher. She often teaches with powerpoint presentations which are posted on Blackboard. Her greatest downfall is that she gets distracted extremely easily which means that when you go over your notes they will not make sense, and you will not really know what to study. Focus on the powerpoints. If you do your work and study you can get a good grade.

I have to admit, I was not looking forward to this class. On the first day she told us to get out the methamphetamine. However, I have to say that Lindahl is one of the best professors I've ever had, probably because I really enjoy econ and I read the book and paid attention. She described current and past events of the US and global economy and related it to the material and to the avg college student's life which was helpful. She was entertaining, funny, and played cool youtube clips during break. Read the book, and study the chapter review questions. And don't rely on friends to help you out, it's time consuming to understand econ concepts.

Lindahl is an idiot. She couldn't explain the material without confusing herself and her students and frequently got sidetracked. I did fine in the class, but only because I did the reading and taught myself the concepts. Had I had major questions about the material, I would have been screwed. Don't take her class if you aren't comfortable with reading the textbook and teaching yourself the information. Also don't come to class. Her iClicker questions rarely work and she doesn't care about them anyways.

This class was half online, half lecture and the lectures were completely pointeless to go to. There was always some type of technical difficulties which took up half of the lecture time in the class. The only reason I went was to get clicker points and the clickers never even worked. You pretty much have to teach yourself this class in order to pass which is on the online textbook but you wont learn anything from her.

Half online half lecture. Lectures were pointless. Online never worked so she gave up on it. In class she would do clicker points for being involved in questions but you can connect to the class session from anywhere and as long as you submit an answer you're fine. She never really taught anything useful except for the last day of class. Taught myself everything. Her tests are REALLY similar to the book. Only good quality about her his her humor.

Lindahl is a funny, quirky woman, but she doesn't know how to teach. If you are in her class, DEFINITELY utilize the office hours, because she's actually pretty cool and will help you on whatever you need. In class, you learn like nothing and most of it is just outside readings and homework you have to complete on your own. Lovely woman, pretty bad teacher, but entertaining class. I wouldn't probably recommend her for this class, but she's a chill lady I gotta admit.

Learned about 10x more in my high school class and that wasn't even AP. You have to learn everything online, which I was too lazy to do. Solina is a funny lady, but that's about it. Yik Yak is always popping during the most useless 2 hrs of her class you'll ever sit through so that was kind of fun. But overall it was a royal waste of time - do not recommend.

Half lecture, half online with much of the online portion being filled with issues. Smart lady overall, but I found that class was unnecessary as Lindahl couldn't seem to hold a constant train of thought. She would start a sentenc... In addition, the exams are based solely on the textbook. If you can do well without a professor, take her for 201.

I took Solina's hybrid class and there were so many technical difficulties that we really didn't learn much all quarter. However, she realised all the problems with the curriculum and adjusted grades to compensate for that. Although I didn't learn much shes hilarious and her painfully awkward jokes made the class bearable! Very easy to get an A as long as you do the homework!

DO NOT TAKE HER ECON 201 CLASS. All she does is ramble about unnecessary information, cut to random tangents, and blabble about incomprehensible subjects. Also, there is no way that she can teach both macro and micro in 10 weeks while only meeting once a week for 2 hours, which is extremely pointless to go to. TAKE A DIFFERENT TEACHER OR A DIFFERENT CLASS.

Lindahl makes the class very easy. She drops your two lowest (if I remember right) quiz and homework grades and the majority of the class is online, except for the final. It was an easy A for me, but I 'get' econ better than most. Also, you learn absolutely nothing in lectures the whole quarter. I wouldn't have gone if it wasn't for iClicker participation credit... so bring something to do

You really have to teach yourself in this class. The lectures are boring and she gets very sidetracked. I constantly got distracted and confused during lecture. The three midterms are online and she drops the lowest one. I recommend reading the online textbook and actually preparing because the final is in person. The tutor for the class really only helps if you have specific questions. Econ does not come easily to me so this class was hard and I had to really work to understand it. I got a good grade but its because I had to work.

You basically have to each yourself this entire class. She is pretty confusing during lectures and confuses herself half the time. Its only one lecture a week which is nice but you have to spend a lot of time reading the online textbook in order to understand the material. The midterms ad homework are online which is nice because you can use notes and other materials to help but the final is in class and a major part of your grade. The lectures aren't that helpful to actually teaching you the course material because she gets very sidetracked and does not often teach what we are learning in the book. If you take this class you have to be really prepared to put a lot of your time into learning the material on your own.

So Lindahl isn't great. She honestly sucks at teaching and the class is a waste of time. I took the online/in-person hybrid class with my roommate. You learn all the material from reading the textbook outside of class. The only reason to show up to class is for iClicker points. It was an okay class, though extremely boring and a pain to show up to. The quizzes, homework, and tests are all online, minus the final. Easy to do well on the tests. As for the lecture, we had it in the huge silo lecture hall in the business building. We just brought a blanket and sat on the floor in the back by the door and would have a picnic, only paying attention when iClicker points came up. Otherwise, bring other schoolwork to do so you don't waste your time. It fulfilled my GE but it wasn't great. Wasn't the worst either though. Pick your poison.

She is a really fun teacher who talks about lots of ramdom stuff besides ECON. She has some funny stories, jokes, and music. She brings us food and I looked forward to class. She presents the information clearing in notes that we copy. Everything is so straight forward. There is homework due every week, and quizzes every other week, that are straight from the notes. Prof. Lindahl is really nice, and she tries really hard to make econ not so boring...even if it means telling extremely corny jokes. My advice to you first of all: DO NOT take this class at 7 am unless you are just totally a morning person and always have been. Econ is extremely hard to take for 2 hrs. on power point if you are barely awake. She posts all her power point lectures online before each class, so print them out to study for the 5 quizzes she gives you every other week like clockwork. The final at the end is pretty much 90-100 mult. choice questions and a few short essay questions on the most RECENT material. Not too bad, but just study. Homework is all on this program called Aplia, which is online, and it's a fairly easy program to use, but remembering that you gotta get online to do your hw every week is the hard part. So if you don't think you can remember, don't take the class. There's hw EVERY week, my only saving grace was that she drops two of the hw grades, so 2 out of the 4 I forgot about were dropped. She also sometimes gives you an extra credit paper you can do at the end of the qtr, which saved me. She weights everything the same, so tests just have more points, but not more weight than hw or quizzes. That's why the EC points were so sweet. Anyway, take the class, it's not that hard, I just put in minimal effort cause it was 7 am and probably could have gotten an A if I had showed up to class all the time.

Entertaining and enjoyable class. only grades 8 out of 10 hw's, 4 of 5 quizzes and gave extra credit. so the grading was cool but u had to sit thru some serious boredom. she would show up 10 minutes late, and start class out slow with jokes and stuff, and slowly go thru the lecture. the with half an hour left she would realize that she has a shit load more notes to cover then rush to get them all in. so a lot of the time u would stay til the end. pretty easy grading, i just slacked off too much.

She is probably the funniest teacher I have had here. All you gotta do to get a good grade is show up listen to her 2 hour powerpoint lectures and do the homework (she drops the lowest 2 scores out of 10 assignments) Her tests are really easy (at least for me) as long as you skim the powerpoint slides she posts online the night before a test. And all you have to do is recognize the answers in the MC tests. She says she curves the final final score at the very end "only if she has to" which she never does because the average is usually a B. Bottom line: take her, you will learn alot very quickly, very painlessly.

Overall Ms. Lindahl is a pretty good teacher. She is very funny and that helps you get through how boring the subject matter is. The midterm and final are both very challenging, and you don't get any notes or anything to look at so you have to rely solely upon your memory. Make sure to keep up with the online homework or else you will be overwhelmed when it is due.

A solid teacher with an entertaining, if sometimes strange, sense of humor. She teaches almost exclusively from Powerpoint, which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences. Quizes are generally difficult, but reading the book can really help improve your score. For the most part, your grade is based on how much work you put into the class. Most people say Lindahl is really funny and entertaining, which is partly true because she does try to appeal to the interest of students by using slang and making gansta jokes in class. However, when it comes to presenting material in an organized fashion...she is lacking. Maybe it was because my quarter was her first teaching from a brand new text book. But nevertheless I found that she was kind of all over the place in her lectures. She switches between powerpoint (extremely boring) to writing notes on the board (a little more interactive but still pretty boring). The class consists of a pop quiz every week (one of which can be dropped), weekly homework assignments that take FOREVER to finish but are very benificial (she gives plenty of time to do them jus dont wait till the last minute), 1 midterm and 1 final which are both very comprehensive but do-able. She also gives one extra credit assignment at the end of the course that can raise your grade by one or two percent, so do it! Overall, shes a pretty good teacher...but it didn't help that I took her 8am class, that was killer.

I found myself this quarter registering for the second course in the series also at 7am (allthough I swore to myself I wouldn't). It's worth it, for sure. Alright, she is a nice teacher, but her class is structured like highschool. She starts out with something to entertain the class that usually doesn't pertain to economics and then throughout the class she sometimes goes off subject. All she does is show powerpoints and read off of them. If you wanted to, you could just stay home and download the powerpoints from blackboard and watch them yourself, it would be a lot faster. She has a quiz every other Monday and homework due once a week online as well as a final, but no midterm. Personally, I kept forgetting to do the homework, so, if you just do the homework and do alright on the quizzes, you'll be fine. The quizzes are really easy, multiple choice with a short answer problem at the end and the final is all multiple choice. If you're looking for an easy grade, she's probably the best one, but if you're looking for a good lecturer, I'd try someone else.

The people below this review are too harsh. I enjoyed her class BECAUSE she got sidetracked. I've had several professors who straight lecture in a monontone voice so coming to her class was a welcome breather. It's true she goes straight off her Powerpoint, so it's not that necessary to pay close attention to her, but she's very helpful and friendly if you have questions. My class was in the morning so my class was asleep and quiet most of the time , so most of her jokes went unnoticed, but with the right students, this can be one of your best classes in the quarter. I am not kidding- on the first day you will think you are on drugs listening to her talk- let alone write her notes on the board. She is funny and tries her best to make class interesting. You definitely need to go to class if youwant to do well- attendance counts, so you need to anyways. The homework is so annoying, twice a week and sometimes unexpectedly difficult. It does keep you on top of your crap tho. There is a "quiz" every other week which sounds bad, but is soo much better then having two midterms on econ crap that is so hard. Cumulative final that is alot of info, but study the quizzes and do the study guide and you will be fine. This class should have been 15 minutes long. Lindahl is well-meaning, but she gets distracted, and takes off on tangents. The class is a joke -- it covers the exact same material as the book. Worst of all, you have to go -- she uses an iClicker every day, which makes up a large portion of your grade. The tests are nothing like the homework or lecture, and are ridiculously ambiguous. I took Lindahl for Microeconomics 221 the fall quarter of 2009/20010 school year. Class consisted of one midterm and one final for us- the final almost entirely was what a second midterm should have been with a pinch of a couple first midterm subjects. Frequent homework. The problem is that her tests and homework are often very different from each other. To make the issues worse, her lectures are pretty much useless because they don\'t mention much of anything that is actually usefull for the class. Most of the time I felt like I was seeing material on the homework for the first time, and it shouldn\'t be that way. When the lectures, homework, reading, and midterms are all different from each other you know that the class is not well put together. The final (average score 67%)on its own had me thinking, \"Uh, when did we do this?\" far too many times. While Professor Lindahl is very nice, passionate about her job, and definitely cares about students, she is a terrible teacher. I hear her office hours are helpful to a degree, but I never had a chance to stop by. Lectures are unorganized and irrelevent (although entertaining!) and she never responded to any of my three emails. If you want to summarize her teaching, it can be summed up with \"scatter brained\". She\'s smart, but she can\'t teach and she can\'t stay on topic. As much as I would liked to say I got a lot out of the class, I definitely walked out feeling more clueless about microecon than when I walked in the first day. If you can avoid her, do it. If you\'re a business student, your 221 and 222 ECON options are pretty limited but you can always choose a \"lesser evil\".

Lindahl is helpful, kind of, not really at all, but then again I never went to office hours. She does ATTEMPT to make the material make more sense by using examples she believes we would have a connection with such as drugs, flowers, dates, and beer. Class is 2 whole hours of hell twice a week, she lectures and that\'s about it. Homework is due about every other day. Study guides, practice test, homeworks, and lectures have nothing to do with midterm and final.

Lindahl wasn\'t great, wasn\'t bad, but definitely was somewhere in between. Thankfully I read the material before going to lecture, because there were times where I got more confused after the lecture than after completing the reading. She went off-topic every once in a while, which can be annoying for some. There is a decent amount of reading, 2-3 Aplia assignments a week, 2 midterms (which were fair), and a final (which was fair as well). In general, this class was fine. She truly is a nice person with the best of intentions; just be warned that there will be times in class where you wanna leave.

Lindahl is a funny woman. Her class is not difficult. The online aplia homework and the daily clicker questions make up about 40% of your overall grade, so this gives you a boost. Her midterms are a bit harder and application based, so be sure to study. However, if you do better on your final than you do on your midterms, she replaces the midterm grade with the final grade. Her lectures are not that bad. Make sure you go. She sometimes has trouble getting her point across in class during lecture, but that shouldn\'t confuse you for the midterms. I\'m currently taking her for my econ 222 class and I\'m glad i did so.

Professor Lindahl is one of those teachers that follows the textbook word-for-word. When you first start taking her class, the information is difficult to understand and you\'ll probably feel like you won\'t be able to keep up with the pace of the class. However, her midterms are completely doable if you reread the chapters. They follow the book and there are never any surprises. She tends to go on tangents throughout class, but this only makes things more interesting. She gives Econ a personality of its own. Do not take her if you have trouble studying on your own. She teaches throughout class, but you should know the material well before going into it. Her class isn\'t impossible, but be ready to work hard. She won\'t allow you to fall behind.

Lindahl is the way to go! How her grading works is: 10% IClicker Questions(must go to class every day, usually a grade booster), 20% online APLIA homework assignments that aren\'t too hard as long as you do the reading, 20% for each midterm(total of 2), and 30% Final Exam. As long as you do the reading its not a hard class; you should get at least a B+. She also offers extra credit that can boost your overall grade about 2%. I was block-scheduled and got Lepore as my Econ teacher but after reading reviews from both him and Lindahl, I decided to risk taking Lindalh. Now at the end of the quarter, I have no regrets. Just warning you though, you may catch yourself falling asleep a couple of times, but its econ. To sum it up, if you want a class that\'s not too hard, then take Lindahl!

For all of you freshman that gave Lindahl a bad review welcome to college! It doesn't get any easier than this class! I thought this class was a fair amount of work, and I loved the grading system 10% for easy homework assignments, 10% for clicker questions (also really easy), and really easy midterms, and a really easy final. Plus she offered an extra credit project at the end worth 2% of our entire grade which was also.... really easy. If students did poorly in this class it was because they didn't read the book or they didn't show up to class. I also think Lindahl genuinely cares about her students and is extremely helpful in office hours.

Lindahl is a very cool teacher. She is very young at heart and sometimes brings up the most interesting of topics, but then again, she goes off tangent from econ a lot. She is a very elegant teacher and you can tell she loves her job. She is very cool in person, shes definitely one of those teachers you would want to get to know more. Homework is fair but online, so if miss the due date, YOU ARE SCREWED. Tests are average difficulty, some of the stuff wont even be covered in class due to lack of time, due to rambling, but in a funny way. Very cool class, really recommend her, but make sure to read the damn material, there was about a 2 week period where she didn't teach new material.

She is a very nice lady who is very laid back and also kind of hot in an economic sort of way. clickers force you to attend class but her lectures make it very difficult to stay awake mainly because the subject is so boring not because of her because she tries her best to entertain us. She gives 2 Midterms and a final with weekly aplia assignments and there is no reason not to get n A+ because if you just read the text you are guaranteed an A, thats how easy the tests are. I obviously did not read but thats because im a lazy shit

She wasnt good at presenting the material, she rambled on about drugs ALL THE TIME, annd she constantly talked about things that she said we didnt even have to know. It was very hard to figure out what we needed to study for the test. if you are not good at Econ then you dont want her.

I took Lindahl for microecon 221 this past winter quarter. Going into the class, my only background in economics was Microecon AP in high school but that was a joke. I came into the class open-minded and throughout 10 weeks, I have really gotten to enjoy the class. I ended up with a B+ because I messed up on the final but it's all good. At least during my class, grade breakdown was 20% online hw, 6.7% iclicker questions, 20% midterm 1, 20% midterm 2, and 33.3% final. There is an extra credit opportunity at the end of the quarter that will boost your grade 1.5%.

This is not a hard class to do well in, but it is a hard class to go to. The grade breakdown is mainly focused on homework, blogs, online tests, a midterm, and the final. As long as you do the homework and other online material, its not very hard to do well. The class is terribly boring, and she asks clicker questions everyday, which make up 5% of your grade. Just bring your laptop and make the class a study hall or watch a movie, and bum the answers off of someone else. The midterm and final weren't terribly hard either. If you're looking to learn anything from this class, DO NOT take Lindahl.

Lindahl over all is a very nice lady, but she just doesn't get her course material across very well. She rambles on and on about things that have nothing to do with the subject matter and when she does get around to explaining it it is muddled and confusing. Reading the online book and course power points on your own is a much more effective way of learning the material. The weekly online quizzes and bi-weekly homework are fairly easy and not hard to do well on as long as you read the material. The class consists of 3 midterms and a final, none of which seem to have any of the material she went over in class in them. Her tests are unreasonably difficult and hard to pass. Over all I would recommend not taking her class if possible.

Just finished up this class for my first quarter at Cal Poly and it was a good course. I do not agree with whoever came up with the method of doing the online homework/online quizzes BEFORE you actually got lectured on the material - that's what you're going to have to do. I guess it helped me stay on top of the class but I have never learned that way before. Lindahl is a nice lady, my friend says she is very helpful in office hours. In class, if you are brave enough to ask questions, she will try to find a way to explain it to you that makes you understand. If you go to class like a normal college student should, you should do well, at least a B. Also, team up with another person or more on the online homeworks/quizzes, it helps. GO TO CLASS! The clicker points helped me out A LOT at the end, as it helped me get an A. Enjoy.

If you want to learn about Microeconomics, you HAVE to take this class. Lindahl is such a great teacher. I had her for Macro and got a C+ and thought it was because she was a lousy teacher, but if you pay attention and give the class a fair and honest shot, it's hard NOT to do good. There's so much opportunity for credit with clicer points, homework, pre-reading quizzes, and writing assignments. I find it easier to own the book along with the portal access. Just do the online assigments and the tests are a peice of cake. You'll learn soooooo much!

First off, Prof. Lindahl is allegedly a MILF, but really she is just younger and better looking than most professor you will have. Her tests are really hard, but if you do the homework and post-reading quizzes your grade will balance out. Clicker questions also are a good grade booster. The class is pretty boring if you aren't interested in Econ though.

The class is constructed to be very easy, but the teacher is terrible. She requires you to read and do homework assignments before every lecture, which means that you already know everything she is going to talk about. Every lecture is two hours of review rather than her presenting novel information. The only reason anyone goes to class is because she gives extra credit in the form of iClicker questions. I played games on my smartphone during every lecture and still managed an A. Take the teacher if you're an autodidact, not if you expect Lindahl to take you step by step through the material. She gets off topic every class period and tries to be hip and with the times, but instead just comes off as awkward. Seriously. You will cringe when she says words like "dizzle" or "WTF"

45 Pre-lecture quizzes, weekly homework and midterms that weren't designed like the pre-lecture quizzes or homework. Yeah, this may be an easy class with easy concepts, but be prepared to be overworked. Guarantee that the start of the quarter you will keep up with the horribly written Econportal book, and as the quarter progresses, you will slowly stop caring too much about reading for the quizzes. The Econportal website was horribly constructed, goes down for maintenance continuously, and the book is nowhere as clear as the Aplia website. There are design flaws, bugs, and just flat out poor construction of the Econportal website. So far this review has just been all about the work you do in the class; I have not mentioned yet the tedious hours you spend in class hearing her absurd examples that try to connect her with the student body. Her act gets old quick, and this class is at most entertaining the first few weeks, then it gets painful to go to. If there were other options for professors, I say take it. If you are unfortunately stuck with this professor, expect hard midterms, way too much homework, and awful class lectures. I am in no way a "bad" student, but the amount of fucks you give for this class will diminish as the class progresses.

First off, it's an introductory ECON course so of course some amount of people are not going to find it interesting, but here's a quick honest and objective review of the class: Homework- Not too hard, just do the reading and they match right up. There's 1 reading quiz per week + 1 Chapter quiz, the chapter quiz being the harder of the two. Only advice: DONT GET BEHIND AND PROCRASTINATE. It can be a lot if you save the 10-15 pages of reading + 1 quiz per week til the night before. In Class- She is very relaxed and if the class is 2 hours like I had it, you get a 5-10 min break during the middle, and she isn't too strict about cell phones. A little bit with talking... but only if you are the type of person who doesn't realize they have an obnoxiously loud voice haha. Also, you do iclicker questions in class which came out to be a HUGE 40 points extra credit at the end of the year and can boost your grade anywhere from 5-7% or so! SO TRY ON THESE! Midterms(3)+Final: Pretty difficult in my opinion, I believed I averaged about a C throughout... but that was not with much studying... once I got down to it and put in my all for the final I finished with a B in the class. So overall, she's a nice professor, available at her office hours. While the class can be boring it isn't too bad. Anybody who is thinking about taking this class or needs it for Business shouldn't hesitate, Lindahl is a good teacher, with a bit of awkward humor, but I think still pretty funny and kindhearted.

Another so-so class. 2 midterms, mandatory project, extra credit clicker questions, weekly homework, and 43 quizzes. Everyday you have to read 3 chapters of this terrible, glitchy textbook and do 3 quizzes before she teaches the material. Easy subject, straightforward set up, but horrible system. To ace these 45 quizzes, they are sometimes 20 questions each and take a good 1 hour to understand the material by yourself. Homework is glitched up and okay. Lindahl is decent at explaining the material but thats probably because a lot of us understand the material before going to class already...Her tests are fair. Lindahl is a very understanding, laid back, and chill type of professor. She's very random. I don't know if I would take this class again. Probably not...because I hated reading and getting mass quizzed before I even learn the material. Easy to pass. Also easy to crash for people with late rotations.

She was an alright teacher. Everything is online and there is really no need to go to class. if you do go to class you'll get extra credit for iClicker questions. 2 midterms and a final, pretty straightforward. overall, pretty boring class. You also have to do a group project where you take a song and rewrite the lyrics to "economic" terms and sing it and put in on Youtube. The project wasn't hard, just a pain to do really.

Lindahl was a pretty awesome teacher. Our class times were fun and interesting, and she often uses funny and real world examples to illustrate the concepts. Obviously some people will hate the class because it is econ, but I thought this class was great. There are 2 midterms and a final. Also, there is no pressing need to go to class, you can survive without it, however, if you do go to class, you can get extra credit virtually every day. Her tests are fair, just do the practice tests and you should be fine. I definitely recommend Lindahl. She is sort of quirky, but she makes class interesting and somewhat enjoyable.

Where to start with Lindahl.. She is an interesting woman. Not the greatest teacher however. I learned mostly from the text. Her lectures mostly tried to put what we read from the text into perspective and apply it real life I guess. We had all of our hw on sapling. Bottom Line: take her. She's a little disorganized, but Econ 221 with her wasn't very hard. The only reason to go to class is for the iclicker points. The online quizzes seem easy and you think you understand the material until you get to the tests and they have nothing to do with the lectures. She makes you go to class everyday so you can get points for these clicker questions, but is a waste of your 2 hours because she copies her powerpoints straight off of the book. Like a lot of other people have said, Professor Lindahl is a very nice person, but tends to be a bit scatter-minded when it comes to her lectures. She is extraordinarily helpful in office hours and really cares about her student's success. Unfortunately, her lectures are unorganized and tend to be confusing. On the bright side, the textbook for the class is excellent and if you do all the reading and understand it, it should be easy to get an A. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews for Lindahl's Micro class. Sure, you may have to teach yourself a lot of the material, but that is expected in college! Lindahl is more than willing to give help to students who ask for it, and she makes her lectures engaging with jokes and examples. My only complaint would be that she tends to go off on tangents, which makes lectures a bit scattered. Just do the reading, pay attention to the lectures, and do the homework she assigns and you should be fine. Where can I possibly begin? I have never felt like my free time is more valuable than when I was forced to sit through Lindahl's deathly boring lectures. Call this woman Medusa because one minute watching her teach turns you to stone, unable to comprehend life anymore. Not only does she have the cursing vocabulary of a 19th century pirate mixed with someone who just learned Economics, but she also refuses to recognize her failures. I would rather slit my corneas out of my skull than have to glare at another one of her awfully prepared iPad graphs. By the end of the lecture you will be wondering whether you just learned Econ or took a crash course on how to stay distracted in the Business Silo. If you enjoy self-torture, being barraged by F-bombs, the sense of humor of a 12-year old, and a general lack of teaching skill, then by all means prepare your body for the Hunger Games-esque torture that is Solina Lindahl's Microeconomics class.

Lindahl is a very nice and caring teacher, she really wants student to do well and she gives A LOT of opportunities to get a good grade (she offers a huge extra credit opportunity, drops your lowest homework grade, replaces your midterm grade with your final grade if you do better and also allows a notecard on the final). However, she is TOO nice, because she can't get student's attention during class and talks too nicely and softly, so no one pays attention during lecture. Im not going to say she's a sadistic bitch or anything ridiculous like that, but I going to her class is really a waste of two hours. She is unreasonably scatterbrained and fails to narrow down any topics for her tests. She believes in a flipped classroom style, in which you are expected to read a chapter and come to class and ask questions on what you don't understand. In theory this sounds reasonable, but the way she presents it completely defeats the point of a professor. Our final is cumulative of all 18 chapters we have read throughout the quarter with no real lecture material to clarify any topics or narrow anything down. Though I scored highly on her midterm, I think that this is unfair to just hand someone a textbook and say read and everything is fair game. If you are paying for an education, not a textbook, you should deserve exactly that.

With that being said, it is MORE THAN POSSIBLE to do well in this class. I've skipped class for the last two weeks, and I have still essentially secured a B in the class (possibly an A). She splits her grading into multiple different categories where you can easily earn a lot of extra points. She offers 5% extra credit for making a music video too which is clutch. After having Lindahl for 2 quarters (both macro and micro), I can say hands down I have not learned a single thing from her lectures. She is a very kind woman and has her student's best interests at heart, but she cannot teach for shit. I'm sure she is knowledgable and she tries to bring up relevant current events to get her students engaged, but she does not teach. I would call this an independent study class as you will pass for sure if you read the textbook on your own and take notes from it. Do not expect to learn anything in class and do not expect "lectures". In my opinion, she was basically a paid babysitter for 2 hours, not a teacher. Nonetheless, you still have to go to class in order to do the live questions and listen to her curse in an attempt to be hip. However, my objective is not to bully her through this rating because during office hours she is really approachable and all around really sweet! Her exams are very difficult, mostly because you have had no practice with those kinds of questions, but this class is definitely an easy C with minimal effort, if you study really hard and go all out an easy B, and if you are naturally gifted in econ and work your ass off AND have a side tutor, then getting an A is possible. Overall, I would not suggest anyone take this professor for either 222 or 221, however if you do get her, be prepared to set aside one hour each night to do the reading on your own, or you will be fucked the night before the final like I am right now and you will procrastinate by writing her a polyrating.

If you have already taken Macroeconomics and felt like you understood it, you will be fine in this class. Don't get me wrong, I didn't understand most of what was going on in class because Lindahl went on so many tangents and would draw really messy and confusing graphs, but I was still able to get an A in the class because the first half of the class was macroeconomics which I took the quarter before and I just read the chapters. She is also fair with curves and makes sure the average is at least a 75. Although Lindahl is not a great professor, she cares about her students and means well and it is still possible to get an A. I took Micro with her during my third quarter freshman year and it was one of my favorite classes. You learn a lot and it's not too difficult if you really try. This is coming from someone who didn't take Macro before this and had no previous knowledge in ECON whatsoever. Just do your Flip It assignments and TAKE NOTES on the videos (which are pretty neat bc of the cool graphics), and anything she writes on the board. She will go over the major parts of the Flip It lessons in class, but she is 100 percent willing to go over anything you have questions on, whether it be a topic or a specific question on the hw. Also DO HER PRACTICE TESTS and go over questions you struggled with on the hw. Highly recommend this!!! Her practice tests are a lot harder than the hw questions, but will prepare you for her exams. Do IT, and then review things you struggled with. I liked her class so much that I wanted to take ECON 222 with her next quarter, but didn't get her. Take her!

Lindahl is a nice person but she is a terrible professor and an oddball. She showed up late half the time, never on topic (talked about her hippie parents a lot), and didn’t prepare the students for exams. However, she is a good person and does want you to do well. Getting a good grade is easily achievable but not with her lectures. Homework is done online through FlipIt Econ which isn’t great but provides all the information to do well in her class. Fairly easy to get a good grade but I would not recommend taking this class.

Lindahl is a poor excuse of a teacher. She'll use the same graph to display multiple different problems, throw in a random story about her daughter or the Kardashians for a good ten minutes and then return to the problem as if nothing happened. Legit you have to teach yourself the material. Thank god the final replaces your midterm or else I would have done really bad in the class. I have no idea how she gets paid to do this for a living.

Prof. Lindahl is a good teacher. She is very clear in her lectures. Her tests are usually from test banks, but if you can get her to write her one they are very straight forward. Class discussion sometimes can get off track and seem like a waste of time, but other than that it was a useful class. Try to get her if you can, she is very fair with grading and assistance.

Professor Lindahl is a great teacher. I really enjoyed going to her class even though it was int he Education building at 6 and the sun was beading down on us all the time. I had her class at 7 in the morning and it was refreshing to see a pretty face and a smile that early in the morning. she is funny, and loves teaching. she gives four quizzes and a final. she offers homework and an extra credit paper which all bring up your score. it is hard to not get at least a B in this class. after taking 221 with kersten, i wish i would have had Lindahl for both 221 and 222. enjoy her while it lasts because she is a dime a dozen

Lindahl was the coolest teacher I've had at poly! she has an awesome personality, and some pretty good jokes! she is very relaxed, easy to talk to, and loves to teach, and it shows. The class is fairly fast paced and most of the stuff comes from lecture. there are 4 quizes and a final and she offers extra credit. I wasnt looking forward to econ especially at 7 in the morning, but i really enjoyed the class, it was definetly worth it. Professor Lindahl is young and in tune with the diffuculties college students face. I had her on Fridays for 4 hours, but I always made it to class because she gave us at least 2 breaks and her sense of humor and stories about herself and family kept us awake. Her 4 hour class went faster then many 2 hour classes I've taken. Her presentations are clear and easy to follow. There are 4 quizzes, 2 papers (1 page each), 4 homework assignments, and a final. As long as you study the reading a little, you'll do fine on the quizzes. The final is like the format of the quizzes, but longer. Also, the papers aren't diffucult at all. In general, the assignmants were time consuming, but as long as you did them, they were easy points. I'd definitely take another class with her. I highly recommend her. With a little effort, you can easily get a B.

If you are planning on taking Lindahl's 7 am class and you are NOT a morning person, than you better know how to teach yourself the material because you will not be showing up in class much. I thought I could be ambitious and try to wake up that early, and I ended up actually going 6 times, including midterm days. Her lectures are pretty boring and her jokes are a sad attempt at making a 7 am class somewhat interesting. But she is a good person and I am sure if you actually try to use office hours or even regular class hours to your advantage, then you will do well.

I have to say that Professor Lindahl was one of the best teachers I have had, so far at Poly. The number one best quality about her is that she takes time to help students' understand the material more clearly in her office hours. If you are going to take her class go to her office hours, even if you don't need the help and get to know her. She is awesome. Her course is not too extremely demanding, but you will have to work to get your grade. Try to get a ten on all of the homeworks because they are not that hard and are worth 18% of your grade. She also has two midterms, a final and one current event presented per student. Just study for the tests. Prepare for the current events and you will do well. Take her!!!!

Ok, first of all I have to say hot? huh? she's not bad looking for a professor, unless you're into the whole mid 30's mother of a 6 year old thing... As for the class, the homework was online (all easy) and the class was pretty much a joke. She reads powerpoint presentations to you; which are word for word out of the book. I'd recommend just getting the book and staying home until you have to take a midterm. There is also a current event essay/presentation you have to do, but it only has to be 1 page long, nothing too dificult.

Boring, not hot, and boring. She just stands up there and reads powerpoints. Her tests are fairly hard, but nothing extreme, and her homework is pointless. She is always willing to waste your time in class with jokes and stuff, but she is never willing to let you out a minute early, she may even keep you late. She doesnt teach the material too well, just get the book and read it. I would recommend trying to find a different teacher. She prolly isnt the worst, but i wouldn't take another class from her.

Lindahl is a nice woman, she tries to make econ as interesting as it can be, but we all know the potential for econ being interesting isn't all that great. She tells jokes at intervals throughout the class and gives good sized breaks in between the two hours. She's pretty creative about class. However, she tends to get behind in lectures, and for some reason just stopped using her powerpoint notes halfway thru the quarter, so sometimes I'd be lost as to where exactly she was in the notes she had posted online. She also tends to be unbalanced in her teaching, spending tons of time on one topic, but then you hardly realize she's covered another, which is part of the reason we were behind in lecture topics most of the quarter. It's hard to know what to study for the tests when she skipped a bunch of the material on the notes cause she's behind. Overall, nice lady, but sometimes kind of confusing, at least in my opinion. Take her if you're already good at econ. There's no book, just notes, and hw is due online. 2 midterms, a paper/presentation, and a final. Oh yea, and she's got this new policy where you can only be absent ONCE the entire quarter, which I think is ridiculous in college. She takes roll EVERY freakin class, so don't think you can get away with anything. That sucked.

Professor Lindahl makes me laugh... she is a really funny lady and good at lecturing, but maybe someone you would want more as a friend than a teacher. For the most part her lectures are really interesting and she often goes on hilarious tangents which make a dry dry subject more entertaining, but to be honest I'm having a really difficult time understanding her pace. The notes seem very clear but when it comes time to take a quiz /midterm I feel completely clueless. Take her if you can handle it, but you will need to study and do all the homework. Lindhal had a really outstanding personality and she was the funniest, most down-to-earth professor I've had in a while. The class itself was awfully boring but doable with some pretty intense studying. Like the person below me said: do the homework as you cover the material because you will waste a LOT of study time (I averaged 45 min per CHAPTER on homework) doing it all at the end when you could be studying. Other that that... the class wasn't half bad with Lindhal teaching. Additional plus: wireless internet in the business building... so bring your laptop!

As everyone has said, Lindahl is a very funny, entertaining teacher. However, i don't feel like her lectures prepared me very well for the exams or weekly quizzes. I did take the 7am section, which was a HUGE mistake (and maybe part of the reason why i didn't feel like i learned much from her,) but i still think her teaching methods could use some improvement. Use the study guides she gives you to study for the midterm and final!!! I didn't know a damn thing about the material when the study guides were handed to me, but by going over each question and making notecards, i was able to get a B on both exams without reading all the text chapters. The guides are really long, but they are an accurate reflection of what will be on the test.

Mrs. Lindahl is a funny person. She has goofy little jokes at the begining of class which is better than most teachers. The bottom line is she is a pretty good teacher and you just need to keep up on your work and studying and you will do fine. It is by no means a extremely difficult class. The only reason I got a D is because I fell way behind on my work and was unable to catch up by the end of the quarter. However, I believe that I was literally .00001 away from failing and therefore must say with all sincerity: "Mrs. Lindahl is sooooo hot right now. Hot like a burning flame."

Lindahl is a good teacher who knows her subject matter. She uses mostly powerpoint in her lectures, but manages not to be boring and uses her dry, slightly off-color humor to keep it interesting. The tests are multiple choice and sometimes have a small short answer portion also. Homework is due at the time of each midterm, but i suggest keeping up with it rather than doing it all at the end. The problem for me is that it was at 7am and i definately am not a morning person so i made it to class maybe 10 times total. I also could probably have used to read the book a little. If you aren't a slacker like me you will be able to enjoy the class, learn some, and get a decent grade.

This class consists of 2 hour (and not a minute shorter) lectures, approximately 7 pop quizzes (which were difficult!), 6 or 7 homework assignments, a midterm and a 100 question multiple choice final. If you have a business oriented brain you'll do fine. But if you're like me, and well, don't have a business brain, this class is a challenge. You're not really rewarded for effort, but rather on performance and you have to know your stuff. if you go to the lectures and pay attention you should be fine. I actually did read most of the book, and it helped to explain the concepts, so i would recomend getting it (its boring as heck though. she does try to entertain with jokes in the beginning of class, and she even did some michael jackson dance moves for us once. she's pretty goofy, and very approachable, and i would recomend taking her.

Lindahl was amusing most of the time, but I was always left confused. The homework often seemed to have nothing to do with the tests. Lindahl was great for ECON 221, I learned a lot and understood most of what she was talking about unless she went completely side-tracked LIKE SHE USUALLY DOES, the tests are pretty hard because it goes in-depth and she doesn't. I liked her enough to take ECON 222, but it SUCKED! I regret taking her for macroeconomics, because macro is harder than micro and her tests have nothing to do with her lecture. I suggested her going more in depth about the book and the topics she lectures about and I end up getting some bullshit message back saying she lectures this way delibrately...so she talks about her kids on purpose? she talks about god knows what on purpose? She makes you buy an 80 dollar book, a 35 dollar Aplia subscription and a 25 dollar iClicker, so the class is very expensive which sucks. The tests aren't that hard if you study for them and she boosts your grade with homework assignments and iClicker questions. With that being said, she is one of the sweetest porfessors at Cal Poly and truly cares about her students. If you do the reading you will be fine. She tends to switch the syllabus around every quater, but there are daily reading quizzez, hw, a debate (if you have a pulse, you'll get an A on it,) one midterm and a final. If you are enrolled in Professor Lindahl's class, do anything and everything in your power to drop the class ASAP. Don't enroll if you have the option, or take it another quarter. I ended up with an A in this class, after hours of teaching myself the book and taking the practice quizzes. I never paid attention in class because all that Lindahl does is ramble, try to talk like a gangster, and play Fergie during the break. She is ridiculously unorganized, extremely ADD, and very frustrating to listen to. Class is required via clicker points which are about 15-20% of your grade. The questions asked on both the final and all 3 midterms were never once discussed in class and much too conceptual for the minimalistic approach that she took towards actually teaching and helping her students. I studied more for her exams than for my required major courses, because she expects her students to have perfected macroeconomic theory without ever taking the liberty to teach it to her students. OK, I know I got a D in the class, and I'm not on here to say that she is a horrible teacher and I didn't deserve a D because if I'm being honest with myself, I really did. I gave up on the class after the second test, never went to her office hours, and decided since it was an elective, I didn't really care about it. Here is what I have in my notes from 10 weeks of class. Keyes: Demand side economist Adam Smith: Supply side economist As demand increases, supply decreases the economic problem: Unlimited wants, limited rescources. GDP=C+I+G+X(n) Scribble graphs about aggregate demand and some other crap. And that was it. The thing is her tests are HIGHLY detailed. A quote form her syllabus is, "I do not wish to spoon feed you material you can find in the book." So, if you don't get it you suck. I felt like I was taking crazy pills on the second test, and like I was in the wrong class. I got a C-. So I decided I didn't give a sh*t and IMed, facebooked and did other homework in the classes I did decide to show up to, if it didn't conflict with my drinking schedule (6-8 pm TR). She takes the questions out of the awful book, very painful and confusing because each chapter is 30 pages of over-explaining concepts and just making your brain all jumbled. I\'m not sure if any of the first level econ teachers are good, and a lot of people did well in her class, but I\'m not the best test taker in the world so who knows. I just know I hated that class with a mad passion.

Honestly, a terrible teacher. Her lectures are really boring and uninformative. I found the textbook itself 10X more interesting than her lectures. You could never go to class and learn all you need to know from the book. The problem is she has the i clicker questions. The tests aren't too hard if you study the textbook a lot and do practice quizzes on the portal website. Overall worst teacher I've had at Cal Poly, yet not necessarily that hard. The only positive of this class is that the textbook is interesting.

I definitely would not recommend taking this class with Lindahl. Bad lectures, that are not even originally hers, (she copies and pastes pieces from other professor's lectures) and in general she is just bad at explaining even basic concepts. You definitely can get a good grade in this class, but be prepared to use the textbook and teach yourself.

Super cool professor, understands students very well. Online quizes are easy and help your grade, midterms and finals arent bad if you study the study guide she gives you. She goes on tangents all day, leading to you not learning a whole lot in class, but its fun. Not to mention shes a SEXY MILF and often makes sexual comments that keep you paying attention to her. She also will hook it up in the end with extra credit and a curve. Take Lindahl!!

I would recommend Solina to anyone! She isn't an extraordinary teacher but she is kind and knowledgeable so if you really need help and ask her questions she will be able to give you good answers. I learned from reading the book more than anything else, but she is pretty good at clarifying things if you just ask the right questions. Her lectures can run a little off-topic and sometimes she doesn't present the material as clearly as she could, but she is such a nice lady and she does want us all to do well. Take Lindahl if you can! The homework for 222 was a learning curve online so it was graded on completion which really boosts your grade, as well as extra credit iclicker questions and we even got extra credit for voting in the election. Take her!

If you need to take Econ 222, this is the professor to take. She is nice, tries to keep the class fun, tries to clarify any confusion students may have, and ultimately tries to help her students understand the material. The test are straightforward and fairly easy if you do all the reading. Her lectures honestly just reflect the reading so it did not seem necessary to go to class other than to get participation points. But be warned, the material is boring and the class can seem to drag on forever. Overall, this class to take for Econ 222.

Lindahl is a great lady! She truly wants you to succeed in her class, and is very personable. She may have a different style of teaching, and she does assign homework; however, she provides you with practice exams and problems to work on for added support. You can always email her if you have questions as she is quick to respond. My only con would be sometimes during the lecture she would side track, or go on a tangent that wasn't pertinent, but other than that she is an awesome teacher, and I would recommend taking her.

Ms. Lindahl is a very nice lady. But that's really all the good I can say about her. Her lectures were boring and uninsightful and I felt like I never learned anything from the lectures at all. She goes off topic quite frequently, and I dont even think our class received the iClicker extra credit points. I realize all the macro teachers suck, so if you want a nice lady then she's the one for you. If not, search elsewhere.

This class was much harder than I had originally anticipated. All of the homework is done online, and you get full credit for simply doing the work. However, I would definitely recommend reading all the chapters because though Lindahl is a cool lady, her lectures are unorganized and a bit confusing. The tests are all multiple choice but they're definitely not easy. If you are prepared to put in the extra time for reading and studying to make sure you understand the material then you should be fine.

Professor Lindahl is getting WAY worse reviews on here than she deserves. She is super witty and relevant without seeming like she's trying to hard, which makes her enjoyable in class. She does go off on tangents in most of her lectures but not to a point that it takes away from the class. She always asks what the class was confused on from the readings and addresses it first thing in class. All the homework is done online and is very straight forward and forces you to learn the material. You definitely need to study for the midterm and final but for christ's sake you're in college what do you expect. take her class.

Mediocre teacher, and that is sayinf something. Having this class from 7 to 9 in the morning, the class hardly seem engaged, and it was like pulling teeth to try and get people to participate. She lectures over slides and doesn't go into too much detail explaining the topics, which makes it harder to understand when it seems like the teacher doesn't even know what she is talking about. Basically you have to do all of the reading from the book, and you will hopefully get it. I got a C because Econ is just not my strongest subject, and having Lindahl didn't help change my opinion on it. If you understand that kind of stuff, go for it, but just be prepared to learn ALOT of the material onyour own. If you're like me, you should wait to take Political Economies or something easier to understand.

Be prepared to teach yourself a lot. Luckily, her tests and homeworks seem to be based entirely off the book, so reading it well and doing the online portal practice stuff should get you through the class. The class is pretty dry and boring though in my opinion, which makes it a struggle to be motivated to teach yourself. I'm currently in a large lecture section of this class in the silo and it's almost not even worth it to go to class. I'd just recommend reading the book and going to econ tutoring hours in the business building if you need help with a concept. Also, start reviewing for the midterm and final at least a week in advance since they make up a decent portion of your grade. Homework assignments are pretty easy and there are some other basically free points you can get to help boost your grade. It seems like none of the econ teachers here are particularly good if you're not someone who's already into the subject. Also, I don't recommend putting this class off until you're right about to graduate like I did. Get it out of the way early if you can.

Unless you are really confident with Econ, do not take this teacher. You spend hours and hours taking notes in for the online book, and it is just so hard to take it all in. She did not teach a whole lecture class more than 5 times. It was nice having such an easy class, until you realize that she has not taught you ANYTHING. The study guide is helpful, but unless you put a ton of time in, you will not get a good grade.

She is a nice lady. BUT she is a terrible public speaker when it comes to teaching material. It is nearly impossible to follow her when explaining a concept and she frequently goes on tangents. I am honestly she was allowed to teach at Cal Poly because I know professors at my high school who could teach economics much more effectively. I am sad to say that I definitely wasted my time and money by enrolling in her class when I could have got a much better education from another teacher. If your just looking to get your 12 units, you better bust your butt learning the material all by yourself. Don't get me wrong, she is nice and even a bit funny, but when it comes to getting an education steer clear from this teacher.

I managed to teach myself everything for this class entirely from the book and online resources. I'm quite proud of that. I pretty much quit attending class once I realized that her teaching methods were ineffective on me. I don't know, maybe some people understood her explanations of the concepts, but her tangents and ten minute long analogies just confused me. Luckily the book explained things very well, and her tests came almost directly from that. She's a nice lady and seems like a good person, but I wouldn't recommend her unless you're willing to put in a lot of time teaching yourself the material. So if you take her class and don't do well, you can blame it on her a bit maybe, but ultimately you probably just didn't put in the time and effort to learn on your own.

Lindahl is a GREAT person, no so great teacher. Her personality and presentation will keep you entertained for days. Her sense of humor is hilarious as she keeps up with current trends and slang and incorporates a couple jokes every class to keep you awake and invested. Very interesting person. As a teacher she is meh. Reads straight from powerpoints she makes without going into content. She just covers material, does not expand on it. Class is boring most of the time because of this lecture format, and her effectiveness as a teacher suffers. It's not entirely her fault though. She works VERY hard to make these powerpoints and convey ideas. She constantly asks the class if they have any questions, comments, or concerns on anything. The class just never gave any feedback and made it hard for her to know what level of understanding we were at (my class, at least). Depends on the dynamic of your class, I suppose. Recommend if looking for a fun and very easy GE (just do the hw and 1 project and you won't get a C like me lol).

What normally seems like a very interesting, informative class is so damn pointless and boring with this lady. She is incapable of teaching anything without throwing in some dumb little side joke or tangent that derails whatever point she's trying to make. Everything you learn comes from the videos and online tutorials she assigns. Class is a complete waste of time, but she forces you to show up because she does top hat and sometimes takes attendance. Even the top hat questions she asks are pointless and irrelevant. They're made even more so because she doesn't explain any of the material she covers or questions she asks. Professor Lindahl is super helpful and accommodating, she is very personable and approachable. This is college teachers aren't going to hold your hand and be there every step of the way. Read the textbook and put some work in yourself, Lindahl answers any questions that are asked and if class isn't enough then she is helpful during her office hours. Of the three tests in the quarter, she drops the one with the lowest grade. Before class you just have to watch a couple videos that help you become familiar with the subject. Ok. I'm going to make this Polyrating as constructive as possible, unlike some of these stupid ones below me. Solina Lindahl, great person at heart. There is no doubt in my mind that she knows what she's talking about. Unfortunately, in class she doesn't seem very confident when she is speaking, making it harder to absorb the information. It would help if she came in with a lesson plan so that she doesn't have to wing it. She also really tries to appeal to her students, but her approach (to swear and make uncomfortable jokes) seems rather unprofessional, making it harder to give her the respect she truly deserves. Speaking in terms of the class itself.... if you actually read the book, do Cerego, and review this material routinely, you will get at least a B. She definitely does not baby you, and I think that is a quality in a professor that is HIGHLY respectable. Another great quality is that she REALLY wants to help out, but most students don't really come to class prepared with questions. Tests not very hard: three per quarter and a final. Lowest grade dropped. Conclusion: if you are willing to put in your own time, you'll be fine. It's not easy, but it's not the worst thing in the world. Stop with the offensive comments people, she's human too...and a great one. Just because you don't agree with the teaching style doesn't mean you can let the anger and stress that you have with yourself out on her.

When this quarter started, I tried taking notes and listening in class and all that shit that you would normally do in class. Then, I quickly found out that you don't learn literally ANYTHING in class. Everything you learn will come from reading the textbook and doing cerego quizzes online. The only reason anyone goes to class is because of top hat, which she grades for participation and whether or not you get the question right, which is fucked. As an instructor, Lindahl is easily in the bottom three I've had at Cal Poly, the other two being a philosophy professor who showed up drunk to class every day and a political science professor who barely showed up at all. She might honestly be even worse than both of these guys. She has no lesson plan, is terrible at winging it, tries to make up for her piss-poor teaching ability by telling shitty jokes, and she spends the whole two hours filling in space with youtube videos and random, on-the-fly lecture examples that do a poor job of answering student questions. I'm sure she's a wonderful person, but as a teacher, she fucking blows. Also, if you end up having to take her, DO NOT take her at 8 am. You will actually want to kill yourself.

Before all else, I would like to say that I am not salty because it's too much work on my own. It's not too much work and I am in no way complainimg about the workload or that she isn't "spoon feeding" me the meterial. Professor Lindahl is a very nice lady and sometimes funny, but the class makes me want to slam my face into a brick wall. The fact that we had to not only pay for the four hours of wasted time per week and literally learned nothint at all, but also pay for an online learning course that does 100% of the teaching is absurd. Just about anyone could show up to the first or second day to get the code or whatever and then just pay the $12 for cerego and have learned everything a student who is paying for the class and wasting his/her time and also not have to worry about a grade. Not only is this class a complete waste of time and money, she does this stupid phone questions where we send in our answers for something she has written on the board and then we get graded for it. Most of these questions are (like the tests) poorly worded and more confusing than they need to be. She really shouldn't be forcing people to show up to class if all she is going to do is swear, tell bad jokes, play random youtube videos and fail at answering questions while she wings it. It should be up to us to do well on the midterms if all our learning is online, not in class.

I WISH I HAD KNOWN THAT HAVING AN OLDER TEACHER DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE BETTER AT TEACHING. I thought that by taking Lindahl's class would be better than taking an unnamed staff's class because she probably had tenure, but I was so wrong... I honestly learned more from the online programs that we used (Flip It Econ + Cerego) than I did from her lectures. She tries really hard to make things relatable but it instead ends up being a sad attempt at being hip. I don't really appreciate her cursing in class and showing videos of twerking instead of teaching me the material I pay $85 a class for. If you end up in her class, read the textbook and do all the programs she gives you. There's honestly no reason to come to class apart from exams.

Although Lindahl's lectures sometimes go off track, she never fails to cover the material planned for that day and try to answer everyones questions. The people who rip on this professor are probably the ones who either don't show up for class or don't pay attention. Lecturing in front of 200 people is not an easy task for anyone, especially it primarily being a GE full of first and second years, so the people leaving nasty reviews need to calm down. If you do what is expected of you (online homework before and after each class as scheduled, showing up to class and taking notes, and participating in Top Hat questions) you should EASILY be able to do well in this class even if you absolutely hate Econ! If you still feel like leaving a nasty review of her after you have done all of those things, then maybe you should reevaluate why you're in college and taking classes because NO professor is going to babysit you and give you a good grade if you don't put in your own effort. ESPECIALLY in a class of 200 people.

I have nothing against Lindahl as a person, apparently unlike some of the other reviewers on this site. However, I highly recommend that you choose a different professor for Econ 222. I felt that Lindahl wasted a solid portion of each class going off on tangents, or not staying on task. The fact that the class was 200+ people doesn't help this since it makes it even harder to follow what she is saying when everyone else is confused and trying to follow as well. The majority of your learning is done outside class by watching video lectures, therefore it isn't hard to grasp material if those videos make sense to you. But if you are confused, her lectures in class can make you more confused and lost. I ended up teaching myself the material from Kahn Academy videos as well as other websites, and I still did poorly on each midterm.

Someone else commented that her lectures could be condensed into two 45-minute sessions and I totally agree with that. 4 hours of this class a week was such a waste of my time, and I learned more on my own than I did sitting in that room. Her use of Cerego, FlipIt, and TopHat is all extremely confusing in the very beginning, which doesn't help the start of the quarter. I want to start off by saying that if you put in the time for this class, you will be able to do well. Lindahl is a sweet and funny lady (great person), but I didn't feel that her lectures reached me in any significant way. I didn't find the course material that difficult, but I did put A LOT of time into reviewing on my own. You pretty much do all of the learning for this class at home through different online platforms that I thought were helpful. DO THE "OpenStax" READING AND TAKE GOOD NOTES ON THE CHAPTERS. This will help you SO much; it definitely did for me. The unfortunate part of this class is that if I didn't understand something when I was reviewing on my own, I would have to use outside videos and sources to seek explanations. On the bright side, even if you don't do too well on the exams, your grade is split up into different categories. Go to class and answer "Top Hat" questions, and make sure to keep up with your Pre and Post lecture work! She offers extra credit and drops your lowest scores in every category of grading which was clutch too. I earned an 82% average on my midterms and got a 78% on the final studying the night before, and still finished the class with an A-. Although the class itself, and going to class, is generally frustrating... put in the time and it's possible to do well, I promise.

I hate this class. I hate this professor. I am not exaggerating when all Lindahl does in this 2 hour period of lecture is drop the F bomb every two sentences, play useless Youtube videos that are not funny or even EDUCATIONALLY RELEVANT for that matter, and ramble about her life. Even though she is unable to present the material clearly in class, her class is pretty easy to get an A in if you do all of the homework assignments and show up to class to answer to REEF questions. She drops the lowest grade from each category (homework, participation points, even a midterm). She is willing to answer any questions and would spend most of the period lecturing about one thing, which is what makes the class seem inefficient. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities so it should be an easy A/B.

Lindahl has good intentions, but she honestly can't teach well. Her lessons were never structured, and she relied more on online assignments than anything else. There was no textbook and her lectures were always very confusing. After doing the online homework you'd have some grasp of the topic at hand, but she would completely kill any confidence in that subject during her lectures. Nothing made sense to anyone, and she always seemed overwhelmed. She seemed to make up the lesson plan as she went, skipping randomly through various powerpoint slides and hand-drawn lessons on the board. Also, she seems to hate capitalism. Lindahl really tries to be friends with her students but honestly her voice is just annoying. She goes off on tangents and when a student asks a question sometimes she doesn't know how to answer it so will make something up quickly or she'll just pretend like no question was ever even asked. If it wasn't for her REEF questions (an app that you have to answer questions for and also a way to check for attendance) I would never go to her class. It's such a waste of time because you never learn anything. If you study her practice tests well you'll do fine on the tests. She uses an online website for all homework and never tells you when she's changing the due dates so if you're not always keeping an eye on the site, you're screwed. I lost some points from that. This class you solely have to teach yourself everything. I hated the class, but in all honesty, the Econ 221 & 222 professors all are pretty shitty. Guess you'll just have to get this class over with.

Well... she is a character, to say the least. I can't really say I learned much in class to be entirely honest. Most of the stuff you actually learn is on the videos you have for homework, and those are not very helpful on midterms and tests. She has a beautiful heart, and she really is a nice person (plus she gives a ton of extra credit if you take advantage), but as a teacher, you never know what you are gonna get with this one. The one thing I will say: I have heard she is the best option for Macro. So... take that as you will. But ya, it was a struggle for the four hours of class a week.

If you took Macroeconomics in high school you will be fine. If not, good luck. Going to her lectures are pointless unless you have specific questions you want clarified. You do not have a text book and Lindahl teaches you close to nothing, the only thing you learn from are videos on FlipIt which aren't too helpful. She's a cool lady, however she rambles on the whole class about things totally not related to economics and you will learn nothing from her. It was my least favorite class but getting a B is easy and an A is definitely attainable.

Professor Lindahl is a really sweet lady, but not a very good professor. She set up her class to be a flipped class where you're supposed to learn the material outside the class and come in with questions for her to answer, but often her answers to questions were more confusing than they were clarifying. She wasn't organized at all and never had lectures or powerpoints prepared so she would make them up as she went along, and she'd get distracted and go off on tangents often. Going to her class always felt like a waste of time to me, but she gives group assignments or REEF questions (which she used to check attendance) for the second half of class most of the time so I always felt like I had to show up. There was no textbook either; we used online assignments, but they weren't all that helpful because they tried to condense complex information into very short videos and often failed, and the things she tested on were not always covered in the online material. All that said, as irritating as this class was, if you study on your own (I'd recommend finding an online textbook and taking your own notes), show up to class and do the assignments/homework/REEF questions, study the practice tests, and take advantage of the extra credit she offers, it's pretty easy to get an A.

She's actually not a bad teacher. She's also super nice and if you go to her for help/ ask questions, she'll definately be more than happy to help. The 2 midterms and Final were pretty easy and most of the questions were pulled review she put on polylearn. A B+ is a pretty good grade for someone who was barely in class. And I mean BARELY. I went once every other week.

Lindahl is funny an entertaining but she really does not do too much to help students. She assigns online videos instead of an actual textbook. I struggled with the material and going into office hours did not help at all; she treated me like I was an idiot because I did not understand the concepts fully. I failed both midterms, got a C on the final, and the only reason I passed with a B is because she adds in a lot of little participation points in at the end of the quarter. I was genuinely afraid of failing this class, all the homework and participation points saved me.

Lindahl's lectures involve her "reviewing" content from online that you are expected to have read before class. Her timing on due dates is off sometimes because of time zone differences. Her lectures often involve her going off to unrelated tangents, and her explanation usually convolutes topics you thought you had a pretty good handle on. The tests aren't too bad if she hasn't completely lost you on all of her lectures. Honestly, her teaching method just isn't the greatest.

Solina knows a lot about Econ, but can get very distracted during lectures and strays from the main topic a lot, so her lectures honestly aren't very helpful. As long as you do the sapling work online (quizzes, homework, etc) though you'll do fine. She also makes videos on the topics which are actually helpful if you really don't understand anything. Also no textbook, she used the free sapling program which is really nice.

Solina does not give organized and effective lectures. Even though her syllabus would give the impression that she is organized she contributes very little to the pool of meaning in her lectures. This class left me feeling unmotivated. I dreaded going to class. If you have to take this class just bear through it. You'll survive, but it will be painful. Perhaps that's a bit of an exaggeration. This course was pretty much a hybrid course with all of our homework online through a program called Sapling Learning. She did not really help clarify any questions and was really more confusing if she tried to. The professor also went on rants about politics a lot. Going to class was not worth it other than to get points from Reef/ iClicker. I had to teach myself all of the course content in order to get a good grade. The overall class grade is curved at the end of the quarter.

To preface this, I am an econ major. Lindahl was fine, but nothing to write home about. Her class was annoying because there was a participation requirement that was worth like 5% of your grade. Every now and then she'd say something worthwhile, but usually she was just obnoxious and boring. That being said, DEFINITELY TAKE HER! Even though she annoyed me to no end, the online stuff she has you do is super useful and worth all her pointless lectures. I just watched the assigned videos and learned everything I needed for the tests from those. Her grading is very fair too because she drops the lowest midterm and gives EC opportunities if you need it. Plus the online stuff is easy to do and is worth enough to really tip your grade if you need it. All in all, I didn't like her, but her textbook was next level awesome. Make the right choice

To me, the most difficult thing about Lindahl's class is trying to find out what material I needed to know, and what I should have ignored. Her lectures, which are often sidetracked by her rambling stories about random topics or by her political ideology being crammed down your throat, often contain different information and highlights from not only the textbook, but the required videos and quizzes as well. This makes studying for her midterms and finals exceptionally difficult. Add in vague study guides and practice tests which don't go over crucial information, and you have a mid 70% class average on tests. If I didn't take this class already in high school, I would have been ripping my hair out over how little I would know, much like my fellow students I sat next too. On homework, expect 4-5 video/quiz hybrid assignments with another summarizing quiz at the end.

This class seems overwhelming at the start because its a huge class and Professor Lindahl comes across as pretty disorganized initially. She's a super nice professor but gets pretty side tracked during lectures. As the quarter progresses you can get used to her teaching style and the class gets much easier if you do so. She is very informed about the topic, just presents it in a chaotic way sometimes.

If Solina Lindahl was in an alignment chart she would be chaotic good. She has lots of knowledge about economics and is a helpful lady but presents it in a roundabout way that takes a lot of tangents but always comes back to the initial topic. She does not teach a lot in class but reviews the material from the online homework that is due before class everyday. There is the online homework 3 days a week, clicker questions, one midterm, and one final (which was really hard). Overall if you want an extremely interesting class which is not much work take Lindahl.

Professor Lindahl is a really chill and helpful professor. The class is fairly easy if you come to lecture and do the homework, as are the exams. There is a 3x5 notecard allowed on the final, so as long as you buy a thin leaded pencil and spend two hours on the notecard, you'll pass :).

This is a good class and Lindahl is an okay/good Microecon teacher, but be prepared to do a lot of reading and self-teaching. Her lectures seem to drown on, and occasionally she\'ll throw in a joke that she most likely pre-planned. Sometimes she confuses herself when people ask questions, but overall her class is manageable if you do the reading at do all the homework (online through Aplia). Her exams are difficult, so don\'t slack off. There is homework due every Tuesday and Thursday, but she never goes over it. Also, you have to buy a $25 \"iClicker\" to answer pop quiz questions during class, and since they count for points, you can\'t miss class AT ALL. She is a very nice lady and I would recommend taking her, just expect to put in some effort.

Lindahl is an amazing person, and understands the struggles of students. She took the best midterm (out of two) and then gave us extra credit (20% boast) which could switch a letter grade on the class. Be ready to read the online book yourself, you teach yourself everything but pay attention to what see teaches on the slideshows because that's how she formats her tests. She also gave 3 other extra credit opportunities. On my first test I got a B then ended the class with over 100%. Learned a lot but be prepared to teach yourself

Lindahl is charming and she is passionate about what she teaches. HOWEVER. Do NOT take this class, at least over summer, with her. I'd like to know what her 10 week class is like, because I was not satisfied with the outcome of her summer class. She was not present for the first week, and then we only met MW even though we were scheduled for M-TR. For Tuesdays and Thursdays she would post material on PolyLearn. Given the format of her class, you would think that that would mean we would be learning new material aside from the PolyLearn material on Mondays and Wednesdays. But no, instead, we came to class on Monday and Wednesday mornings going over what we were supposed to already have gone over the previous day, and then would proceed to go on a tangent for a majority of the class. Scheduled at 8 hours of lecture a week, we probably only really had about 2 hours of lecture a week combined. She often did not explain things thoroughly and never got to the point of what we were actually supposed to be going over that day. She also made her political views very clear and did not seem to 'like' the other side of the spectrum. Overall, the class was easy, I mean I am getting an A, but it took some dedicated study time to teach myself the things that I thought I was going to be learning in class. If you are also good at teaching yourself things and have some intuition, go ahead and take this course. If not, proceed with caution.

I've been at Cal Poly for 4 years now, and I've taken about 4 classes per quarter. Out of all the professors I've had, Lindahl is easily the worst. Every class I attended felt like a complete waste of time. The professor clearly doesn't prepare for class, each "lecture" she rambles, taking 10 minutes to explain one simple concept. Her assignments are also ill conceived and often unrelated to the material. Do yourself a favor and pick a different professor, or if you're already in her class drop ASAP.

Lindahl is one of the strangest professors I've had at Cal Poly. During the first class, I got the impression that she was a personable and interesting professor who would be able to present the material well. However, throughout subsequent classes, it became apparent that she is extremely uncomfortable lecturing in front of students and would often nervously ramble about completely irrelevant things for large portions of the class. In addition, she assigns reading quizzes every day based on the readings you were supposed to do before class and gives them first thing in class. I found this frustrating because if I had questions on the reading, I wouldn't be able to have them answered until after I was tested on the material. Solina is a textbook example of a smart person who's a bad teacher, I'm sure she knows economics but does a poor job of explaining the material to her classes.

I liked lindahl a lot! She’s not an a**hole like a lot of my other professors I’ve had. Her class was pretty easy too. If you do the reading you’ll be chillin. She told us to read Nickel & Dimed and I just read the ending chapter of it and did fine. There was reading quizzes every class which we would take individually first then as a group after. The midterm and final were not hard at all. She pulled a lot of the questions from the reading quizzes. We had a debate project which was between a group of 5-6 people and wasn’t hard at all. Overall, I really liked the class and learned a lot about race and discrimination.

The BEST ECON professor to take for a support ECON class. She is a very down to earth, witty, and intelligent woman! It is clear that she is very invested in the material and is extremely knowledgable of economics. I was weary of taking this course because it can be a very liberal subject and I am more on the conservative side, but she made the class so interesting and enjoyable for me! From my perspective, she presents material, gives students relevant information, and allows them to gather their own opinions on it- like a professor should! Hands down one of my favorite professors at CP.

I’m currently taking the 5 week summer session with Lindahl and I can’t explain how great of a class it is. She teaches with lectures but also has a bit of a flipped classroom dynamic where you also are working in groups and learning. The class is so relevant on things that happen today and she presents the material very clearly and without bias. Honestly she just has a great energy and is hilarious making class fun, but I’m actually learning a crazy amount. I literally call my parents after each class to discuss the topics we talked about. This class was the best class I have taken at Cal Poly. In fact, this class motivated me to minor in Ethnic Studies. Professor Lindahl was very understanding and a very good professor. For this class you will be required to take quizzes almost every day. You won't know what days she will quiz you so you have to read and do your assignments every single day so you are able to get a good grade on them. Also, after doing the quiz individually you will be put into groups to answer the same quiz and will also have to do a group debate and present it. So hope that you get a very good group because you will be interacting with them on a daily basis. I was stuck with a group who ignored me half of the time unfortunately. She gives extra credit opportunities, which you should really take advantage of. You will also be required to do around 12 hours of service learning. I really enjoyed the material and I felt like I learned a lot from this class. Honestly aside from the group I was put in everything else was great.

Bar-none, the best teacher I've had at Poly. She is into what she is teaching, makes it interesting (of course, how can Econ NOT be interesting), is funny, is fair, gives good tests, is outgoing, cares about if the students "get it" or not, is young enough to relate well with the students, and grades liberally. You can't just skate through the class without any work, but there is very little "busy work". You learn something new every class, and she mixes the political and economic aspects well without bias. She presents the material and allows the rational students to come up with their own conclusions. I would highly recommend Solina Lindahl to anyone taking a Econ class.

Lindahl is all over the place. I felt like a learned a lot about the world, but lectures tended to be a little disorderly. The class consisted of 5 writings (1 page, 10 font, singles spaced) based on readings from the book and outside articles, 5 multiple choice questions sets that you make up, 2 midterms, a group project, and a final. The writings take a long time, but I found I learned a lot from them in the process and they make answering essays on midterms easier. All 3 tests are 30-45 multiple choice, 2 shorter essays, and 1 or 2 longer ones. Group project was a joke. Overall, this class was pretty chill and take her if you can, she will most likely be easier than any other instructor teaching it at the same time.

The class was easy as hell, but I wouldn't recommend her to someone who wants to learn econ. I had her for 222 and like her and didn't mind the fact that she was all over the place, like most people complain. For a 300 level class, though, there was simply no depth. If you are looking to take 200 level classes or are a business major who doesn't care about econ, she isn't bad. Take Lindahl for your 300-400 level econ. This is significantly easier than the other options and is very interesting at the same time. Lindahl is funny and knows her stuff. The guest speakers were a little too much (nearly 2 weeks dedicated to them) but otherwise I learned a lot from this class and have a greater sense of Economics as a whole. Basically to succeed do the required readings before class, spend a day before the midterm studying and you will ace the tests! 1st test was all essays, 2nd was 20 MC, short answer, and one long essay.
