Schwartz is seriously a great guy. His attitude during lecture shows that he genuinely cares about his students and their progression through school. Sometimes during lecture, he will stray off into a speech on the importance of hard work, time allocation, etc. For those paying attention, it truly does provide a lot of insight on the value of your education at Cal Poly and what you want to make of it. Work load is very low and he is an easy grader.

Dr. Schwartz is my favorite teacher!! He is very knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to help students if they are willing to put in the work. He is very kind and helped me with anything I needed and really ensured I loved my major. BRAE 128 is a lot of work but very worthwhile to find out if you like the major and career path you will most likely go into. Definitely take Dr. Schwartz!!

Schwartz is ok. His classes are normally pretty fun and lectures are not boring. He's just kind of a jerk when it comes to any personal issues that you may have during the quarter.

Schwartz is the man. His passion for energy and sustainability is infectious and it's never a dull moment in class. He can be a little scatterbrained and unprepared at times, but he's man enough to admit and make a joke about it! He's funny, humble, and has no ego or negativity. This dude seriously doesn't have a bad bone in his body. He also offered lots of interesting extra credit opportunities that really make you think. Energy for a Sustainable Society should seriously be a required class for all students. You'll learn so much important info about renewables, non-renewables, and the future of energy. And Schwartz does a great job leading the way

I was in the first class he ever taught at Cal Poly, and BRAE 203 the next quarter. The transformation that took place in Dr. Schwartz from his first quarter as a professor to the second is astounding. He is a living breathing embodiment of learn by doing. If something is too hard, he'll work with you, if something is under explained, he'll extend a deadline, make sure everything is crystal clear, and do everything in his power to help you succeed.

Dr. Schwartz is a wonderful professor & overall person! He cares about his students, is super understanding and easy to talk to, and encourages student participation. He does his best to explain material clearly, and is very helpful when you are confused. The subject is interesting in the first place, but his excitement & passion for the topics make the class all the more interesting. I'd definitely recommend Schwartz to anyone!

Professor Schwartz is hands down one of my favorite professors at poly by far. He explains the material very clearly and always makes sure no student is lost, if you are he'll go above and beyond to help you until you understand the material! As for tests, he'll never throw a curve ball at you and is always straight forward with his expectations. I'd recommend taking any class with Schwartz that you can!

Honestly Professor Schwartz is awesome !! I really wish his class was a required GE for everybody at Poly. He'll teach you a really crucial basis for understanding how you impact your environment and the world as a whole. He's super understanding, very approachable, and really funny. He'll memorize your name super quick and get you pumped up about taking care of this world !!

As the other reviews say, Professor Schwartz is a great guy. He is kind and understanding, and has a great sense of humor. You couldn't ask for a more affable teacher. His knowledge of the subject is pretty solid, but I wouldn't call him an expert necessarily. Assignments and tests were incredibly easy for me, but then they almost always are. The one genuine complaint I have is that he is not at all good at answering questions. He often gives an answer that indicates he didn't really understand what was being asked, or didn't understand the main point of the question as opposed to a minor detail. Several times I had to prod him for a better answer after he failed to effectively answer my questions, and other students had to do the same on occasion. Overall, Prof. Schwartz is a great guy and a good teacher, and I highly recommend BRAE 348 with him. Just make sure you ask questions as clearly and specifically as possible, and don't accept a poor answer. He's always willing to keep trying if you're not understanding or if he's not answering you very well.
