This class was actually pretty enjoyable. The ENTIRE class is all based around a large-scale simulation where you and and a group run a shoe company business against other groups in the class. It's actually pretty challenging and pretty competitive. He gives a few open book tests/quizzes that are pretty much easy A's. A lot of your grade is based on the simulation and how you do, but he offers a lot of bonus points and extra credit opportunities that can bump you up if you don't do well in the simulation. He's a pretty cool guy, owns a few business in the area as well.

Porcher is an excellent teacher for this class. He owns a bunch of Jiffy Lubes, so he has the real-world experience for business strategy. He's a great guy and likes to bring snacks and joke with the class. The class has 2 open book/team online tests that are easy A's. Your group also has to answers homework questions each week, but those are basically credit/no credit. Also, a large portion of your grade relies on your team's performance in the business simulation. I would definitely recommend Porcher for BUS 401. It was not too large of a workload and I really did learn a lot about strategy from the class, plus the simulation was super fun.

Porcher is the man, the class is pretty much based completely around an online simulation in which you and your group run a business (our class was a shoe company). Needless to say it was a lot different than any class I had ever had but as long as you took the simulation seriously, showed up to class, and reviewed the chapters before each test you were guaranteed an A.
