This teacher was a pretty weird guy, but his class wasn't hard and he could be funny at times. He definately has an odd sense of humor. His lectures are pretty long and pretty boring. He also isn't too good about answering questions. He sometimes made people feel dumb for asking and he often said, "Well, there's a couple ways to answer that question, if you meant it like this..." and never actually get around to answering your question! There are several easy multiple choice tests and a group paper which he was pretty harsh about. Despite a low group grade, I was still able to pull an A pretty easily.

I thought that he was hilarious. Though the lectures could get a little boring, he presented things very clearly. The tests were straight from the learning objectives. The group paper we had to write was graded very fairly.

He knows a ton about Behavior in Organizations and does a good job of presenting a lot of material (though not necessarily the material he puts on the test!) There is one midterm, a group project (7 - 10 pg. study of an organization) and the final. Other than that, straight lecture with a few movies.

Dr. Levi is the worst Psychology professor I ever had at Poly. His lectures are hell of boring and presents material in class that is not very relevant to the test. His first mid-term is really shitty and about half the class got at least a D on it.

I must say Dan was a pretty cool teacher, he wasnt the type that would notice or care if you didnt turn up to class at all, as long as you made it to the midterm and participated in the group project..you would definately get a good grade! Extra credit is always god if you are failing this class, as he likes to see you put *some* type of effort here..but the class can get very long and boring, i feel its more of a business type class.. he liesk to organise a lot of groupwork too, the midterms are pretty hard...either MC..which hasd realie ntipicky messed up options to pick from, or you can chose the essay type questions..which is like 10-12 questions from the a million review questiosn he gies out..so good luck!..some stuff is pretty interesting too=)

I really enjoyed the class material and the professor. He had an interesting sense of humor. The best thing about the class was that there was a choice when it came to test taking- one could take either a multiple choice or essay test. This was great because the multiple choice seemed really difficult, and essay questions fit right along with the chapter objectives that were given to use at the beginning of the quarter. Recommended!!

dr. levi keeps class laid back. you cant be in too big a hurry to learn too much, but its interesting, and he is funny if you can keep yourself focused to listen for it. the paper sounds daunting, but its really no problem (teamwork and BS, done in under an hour). hes not super stimulating but if you need the class its not a bad way to spend 4 hours a week. I would take him again.

Interesting Lectures (sometimes) and an easy course. Lectures usually dont get boring cuz at the end you talk about semi-interesting discussions and do some semi-interesting activities. Tests are probably 10% lecture 90% book. Do the study questions for the tests and you'll ace them.

Now here is a teacher that has his shit together and teaches classes very well. He's fun to listen to and has some amazing data everyone should know. He's been known to make the class laugh pretty good too and keep everyone interested and relaxed. His tests are mainly from the lecture and you are given the study guide the first day of class. To make things even better- he gives you the option on exams of essay or multiple choice- which is a great option for studyers. The project is pretty basic and he does grade it pretty good but it is pretty simple to put a nice project together with your group you pick. This guy is the best instructor I've ever had at poly and I recommend him to anyone who goes to school here.

Dan Levi did a great job with the Enviro. Psych. It is hard to teach, since there are such a diverse group of people taking this class, but he did a good job of making it appealing for everyone. He was fair with the grading, and his exams come right off the study guides. Not to mention, he gives you so many choices on your tests, you really can't go wrong. I hightly recommend him....

This guy seems a little quirky, but he knows his stuff. He is full of funny opinions and is very intersting to listen to. His tests are very fair. He gives you both an essay and a multiple choice test, and allows you to choose which one you'd like to take. He gives you a sheet of learning objectives to study off of. From that sheet, he chooses 10 questions directly from it and then makes up 2 others for the essay test. From that, you have to choose 8 and write a 2-3 sentence (minimum) essay for each one. For the multiple choice test, you just study the learning objectives and his lecture and then take a 50 question m/c test (and if you want to clarify your answer for one of the m/c questions...like if you think it could be both A or B, then you're allowed to write out an explanation on a seperate sheet and if you get it wrong, he'll look at it and see if he can give you credit for it anyway). It's a very fair system. You also have to do a project on the side that involves a 7-10 page paper and some data, but you're allowed (encouraged) to work in groups which lessen the work load a bunch. This class was fairly easy and it wasn't bad to sit through.

Dan is the Man! To all the students who gave him bad reviews: my guess is that you are the type of student who thinks that if you try hard, you will receive a good grade. Dan does not grade in this fashion. Your grade is much more dependent on your level of maturity and the intelligence of your comments. Sorry to burst your bubble, but at this point simply showing up for class isn't enough to buy you an "A".

Dr. Levi is really laid back. However, I did have some problems with him. He pretty much tells you everything you need to know. My only problem with Dan was he talked sooooo much. I never knew when to just listen to what he was saying or if it was important. He\'d go off on tangents and I never knew what I should pay attention and take notes on. I think he liked to talk just to hear himself talk.

Dr. Levi was an amazing professor. Classes usually involved him lecturing most of the time and incorporated some sort of group discussion or activity. Occasionally, we watched a slide show or a video. He does not write down notes on the board really, so listen to what he is saying and jot down good notes. The class is based on 2 midterms (one is the final), a group project, and also a poster and group evaluation. He offers the test in multiple choice or essay form. I would suggest the essay! The essay questions are almost exactly what he gives you for the study guide. Do the study guide, practice what you would say if it were asked on an exam, and you'll get an A. The group project definitely takes time and effort but it was enjoyable! Ask him for help if you need it; he is an understanding guy. Take Levi if you get a chance!

Overall, he was a pretty good teacher. As stated in other people's evaluations your grade consists of two exams and a project. On the exam you can take either the muliple choice or essay part and you can look at both on the day of the test and decide which one you prefer to take. I choose the essay part which was pretty easy because in the beginning of the quarter he gives you a sheet of questions about what we are supposed to learn from each chapter and he pretty much takes the exact essay questions from there. You choose ten from the twelve that he selects and you don't have to write very much either about five sentences or so. The only thing I did not like was that he was really brief on everything that he talks about and sometimes he was not clear so I went to his office hours and got clarrification on some things. The project was not bad pretty much everyone got a's or high B's. But overall as long as you show up to class take good notes read the book to add to your notes you should get an A no problem!!!

So this class was overall pretty interesting and Levi is a pretty passionate speaker and definitely trys to make the class interesting which is really important in a professor HOWEVER this guy is a dick. He talks about wanting the class to be a good environment to speak up in, but if you answer a question "wrong" he is so condescending and rude to the student which is completely contradictory. I've had some bad professors at poly who just don't seem to want to be teaching, but Levi is worse than all of them because he is so arrogant and snide. He needs a psych course on respecting your students.

i have mixed feeling about levi. overall it was a pretty straightforward class, you get a study guide at the beginning of the course and the short answer exams are taken straight from the study guide so its very easy. levi seems pretty nice i guess, but he's kind of hard to talk to. overall pretty easy and you dont have to pay that much attention in lecture

If you pay attention in lecture, you will do well on the midterm and final. Levi is a very straightforward professor and gives you the option to take the midterm and final either as a written or multiple choice exam. For the multiple choice (if you decide to take it), if you are stuck between two answers (or three) he will let you write down why you chose the answer you did and argue for it, and if he likes what you wrote he will give you points for it even if it is technically incorrect. He is very passionate about the subject which makes going to lectures enjoyable, along with his kooky sense of humor.

Really liked Levi, he's very intelligent and has a very applicable background to teach on the subject of environmental psychology. He isn't the most sympathetic dude, but his lectures are very interesting and you'll walk away from the class with a good perspective on the world which is quite valuable. I valued that he brought up issues on sustainability and some of the causes behind negative human behavior in our world. Midterm is really straightforward - he gives a study guid in the sylabus and you have the choice of doing a mc exam or a short answer exam. One project late in the quarter - group project and not too bad. Levi is a great teacher, and his lectures are really insightful. Would recommend.

Contrary to some of the prior reviews, I found Dr. Levi's class to be rather dry and uninspiring to attend. The class consisted of traditional lengthy lectures and small group discussions. When students participated in class, Dr. Levi often responded in a rude and condescending manner. Despite this, this class is straightforward and its reasonably easy to get an A in. In this class, your grade is made up two midterms (each 50 points) and a group project (50 points). Dr. Levi provides a detailed study guide for both midterms. For each midterm, he offers a multiple choice or a free response version of the exam. On the day of the each midterm, you can choose which version of the exam you would like to take. For the 50 question multiple choice exam, the material comes from the lectures and textbook reading. However, for the free response exam, the material comes entirely from the textbook. I chose to do the free response exams and got an A on both midterms. For the free response exam, you write a paragraph response to 10 short answer questions. If you choose to do the free response exams, attending class is not at all necessary. For each of the exams, I spent ~4 days completing the study guide and preparing for the exam. According to Dr. Levi, students who do the free response exam tend to get a higher score than students who do the multiple choice exam. As for the project, he lets you chose your group and gives you three different project options. The project can be quite interesting and enjoyable. My group spent a total of ~4-5 days preparing the project, writing up the project paper and making a poster. The project is very manageable if your group splits up the work appropriately. In addition, Dr. Levi is a very lenient grader; my group got 100% points on the project, even though we didn't follow his instructions perfectly. Overall, this class was not outstanding, but it was a decent class to fulfill the D5 requirement. TIPS FOR GETTING A GOOD GRADE: fill out the study guide thoroughly if you want an A on the midterms, allot at least 3-4 days to study and prepare for the exams, only attend class if you want to do the multiple choice exams, ask Dr. Levi to review your group's project, allot 4-5 days toward the end of the quarter to work on the group project

I really enjoyed Professor Levi's class, but I'm biased because I love psychology and the environment, and so environmental psychology is fascinating regardless of the teacher. The other reviews describe his test methods in pretty good detail - I chose to do multiple choice for both tests and aced them both easily. You do have to study however, because he does include a fair bit of material from the book. If you fill out the study guide (work with others on a google doc!) and review your notes a few times, you should get a pretty good grade. The group project was pretty low-key and easy. The lectures can get a little bit long, but Prof. Levi does give you breaks and usually there's a short video or discussion activity each class to break up the lecture monotony. TAKE DETAILED NOTES - he only puts up an outline on the board, so it is essential to write down the things he's saying rather than just what's up on the board. You will find yourself not able to remember what things meant if you don't take detailed notes. Overall I liked the class a lot. Prof. Levi is definitely an odd guy, but he's fairly nice and clearly very intelligent. I would strongly recommend this class if you're at all interested in the environment or psychology.

Levi is a solid professor, he makes a point to tell you at the beginning of class he bases exams off the Learning Objectives for each chapter he covers and this is the truth. If you review the Learning Objectives before the exam you'll be ok. Possibly read the Chapter after it's covered in class and answer the questions at that time or bring a printout of the learning objectives to lecture because he'll cover most of them. Be warned Levi is fairly picky at what he wants to see if he asks for something in written form (unless you are a professional writer, I would not recommend taking the written tests even if you normally do better on written verse multiple choice exams). That being said, assuming you choose the multiple choice form of the exams... The only difficulty you could have in this class is with the group project. I would strongly recommend once your group has finished the paper to show it to Levi. Ask him if there are any sections he needs clarification on or doesn't understand. Other than that, just have fun... the activities are interesting if you give them a chance. It was definitely a nice break from a normal programming class (I'm a SE Major).

First of all, this class is a waste of time. I still don't get why SE majors have to take this class, I understand that some of it may be relevant to how groups operate but I don't think we need a whole class about it. His lectures seem to be very redundant as I felt there was a week where we kept talking about the same topic but in different chapters. I thought the test were hard because he chooses 30 questions out of the learning objectives of the chapters and there is like 80 total, so it was hard for me to know them all. Your WHOLE grade is based off one paper that you do as a group. My advice is to choose a topic that is easy and one that he likes. I don't think he liked our topic much nor did he think our topic was going to be easy. I liked my group and thought we had a solid paper, guess not.
