I believe it is Schafer's first year teaching and he is such an awesome guy. He can seem a little passive at first, but he is a really approachable professor and genuinely wants to help his students understand the material. He also alludes to T.V. shows like Lost and Pokemon in his homework which is cool.

Really great teacher for his class. Lectures are straight forward and he is very good about repeating himself to make sure everyone understands the concept at hand. Tests are right out his notes and there is no reason to do poorly. Really helpful during office hours too. He gives you a five percent grade boost in whatever section of his class you did the best in which really helps as well. If you take him for 251, don't buy the textbook unless you are certain you will need additional help/examples. His lectures provide all the information you will need to do well so the textbook isn't a necessity. I really hope he stays here at Poly for a while because he possesses every quality needed in a teacher. Highly recommend!!
