I wouldn't recommend taking Christy if you haven't taken dance before or if you're uncoordinated. I think some people mistake her bitchiness for energy and sass. She gets very impatient and tends to yell a lot, especially if you don't catch on very quickly. It's supposed to be a beginning jazz class! It's a fun class if you can dance well. Some of the girls in my class had a hard time keeping up and Christy seems get very annoyed with them. She teaches the class like it's you have no life and don't have any homework from other classes. She teaches the class in very stressful manner. Overall as a professor/instructor, she's pretty bad. She doesn't really cater to the different dance levels of students. You either get it or you don't. Take the class only if you can handle stress and can dance well!

Christy's beginning jazz class changed my life by making me fall in love with dance. I had the privilege of taking this course several quarters in a row (I was not comfortable or ready to move on to intermediate after the first try! I had no previous dance experience). I started off having A LOT of difficulties picking up even the most basic techniques, and Christy would never fail to recognize what I could do to improve. She puts so much effort into pulling struggling dancers to the side and working with them for a bit one-on-one. She is also tremendously skilled at remembering how each individual dancer operates (i.e. She would always remember I tend to lean to the right when I pirouette, and she would remind me when I continued to do so after showing me how to fix it.). She has played such a beautifully positive role in my life with her optimism, energy, and fiery passion. I am not only a better dancer, but a better person and student, after taking her dance class.

Christy rocks!! This class isn't super easy, but even if you put a minimal amount of effort in you will get an A. There is weekly homework, but not a lot. The first half of class is exercising circuits or yoga generally and the second half is lecture. Christy does a great job of keeping the class engaged and making learning fun. The tests are very easy if you go to class. She is also very helpful if you are confused, so ask for help!

Christy is one of the most professional and knowledgable dance instructors I have ever come across. Her passion for dance is contagious and I look forward learning from her every time I walk into her dance room. The work load is appropriate and she works with each student to make sure they improve throughout the quarter. I would highly recommend any class she teaches!!!

Christy loves dance, and her students love her. She really is an amazing teacher of dance and truly inspirational. I enjoy nearly every moment spent in her class. Her warm up is amazing, and her choreography never disappoints. However, it feels like she picks favorites....and she doesn't do a good job of hiding her distaste for certain students. She gives feedback A LOT to a specific few, and not at all to some, and sometimes to a small number in a way that comes across as plain mean. I think she has a hard time sometimes leaving personal qualms at the door and can be really unfair in class. Definitely take this class, but be sure that you are on your best behavior. Be professional. Don't talk. Work hard. If you are a good student, she will take a liking to you.

Really fun class, just make sure you have dance experience before being in an intermediate class! Good music and instructing and choreography! She doesn't have high expectations when it comes to flexibility or anything too difficult which is sooo nice. She focuses more on staying on the counts and traveling and trying your best so grading is very fair. I recommend the class, I took it for fun and didn't count for an elective or anything for me but I would take it again!!!
