Very nice lady, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRIIING lecturer. She knows the material, but just needs to work on presenting it. There are far better PSY professors out there (i.e. Slem, Ryujin), take them for recitation instead.

This teacher was a great gal. She was well-spoken and quite organized in presenting her material. She was sweet and very accepting of all comments or questions. The tests were very fair and pretty simple if you study all topics covered in lecture. Not only was she a good teacher, but the class subject was very eye-opening.

Dr. King is NOT a very good professor. This class (Psychology of Women) could have been really interesting, but it wasn't. Dr. King came to class late every day, and would take two hours teaching us material that could have been taught in 30 minutes. Her lectures were dry and boring. When students asked questions, her answers seem very weak and subjective. It was as if she was not very knowledgeable on the subject. The one positive part of this class was the testing. The tests were pretty easy. All you had to do was go over the lecture notes and read the chapter summaries (not the whole chapters) and you can get an A. I don't mean to be rude to Dr. King because she seemed like a very nice person, but this class sucked. If you want and easy A, I would recommend it. But if you really want to learn something, take another class.

Dr. King was easily the worst professor I've had in college. If you look up the word "undisciplined" in the dictionary, there will be a huge picture of her right near it. First of all, she missed three weeks (!!!!!!!!) of class because she was sick with what would have kept the average person out a week at most. And when she did come to class, she was never on time, NOT ONCE. Totally pathetic. She submitted the class grades late. She returned our tests late. And to make it worse, she is the worst lecturer on the face of the Earth. She is sooooooooo boring, I fell asleep numerous times in her class and spent the rest of the time trying not to fall asleep. She just sits up there and talks at you in her monotone voice that just makes you want to kill yourself. And to top it all off, she is a total man-hater. All she did all quarter was unfairly rip on men and make them sound like monsters. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASS, IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE.

Dr. King was such a sweet lady. She missed a lot of class and had subs (is that really how college is?!) to cover for her while she was gone. The class drags on because she has a very boring voice and most of the info is totally common sense. But at least her tests are easy and you don't even have to read the book-just the summaries. Not a bad choice if you have any common sense.

Dr. King is a sweet lady but a little flaky. The class is super easy and recommended as a nice break from more rigorous psych classes. The material is interesting although somewhat obvious at times. Good, easy class. There are three midterms and the final, and you have an optional paper and she gives an extra credit assignment.

Just because a person is nice, and educated in their field, they do not always possess the talents needed for a person to be a good instructor. Dr. King is very inconsistent about grading, flaky on handing back assignments and/or providing feedback (she still has assignments from last quarter), she is consistently late to class, or doesn't show up for class (for midterms) while requiring students to adhere to an attendance policy. It is unfortunate to have to sit through ten boring weeks of your college career, and then feel bad about how nice a person is, because you think they are a horrible instructor.

I also had Dr. King the same quarter for PSY 305, and got a B+. She was very good about warning us what the format would be for her exams, and what we were expected to know. She had some personal issues the quarter I had her, but was very organized, and was very willing to assist students. She takes student questions very seriously, and students shouldn't be embarrssed to ask her questions.

This teacher is extremely disorganized, she rambles on and on about nothing for almost 2 hours. I say almost because she never made it to a class on time. She was always behind in her lectures by at least 2 days. She says her tests are mainly based on lectures but she doesn't really lecture about anything, so if you want to do well on the test you need to read the book sumaries. She also assignes this paper which is pretty easy. Each midterm there are selected papers that you have to be able to answer questions on. I think in total she canceled 3 classes, one of which was a test day. And she had a sub on another day, who i think gave us more info than King ever did. Overall i felt as if going to class was a waste of time.

She sucks. She shows up about 15 minutes late to every class, even on exam days. She misses class quite often. She takes incredibly long to return papers and tests. Her lectures are complete nonsense and usually consist of her rambling about irrevelant information. She is such flake and often forgets to bring materials to class, such as copies of the exam. Duh! She sometimes even forgets what class she's teaching and talks about things another class covered with her. She is not reliable, dependable, or even very interesting. I don't know why anyone would subject themselves to this torture. I refuse to take another class with Professor King. Quite frankly, she sucks.

Just read what the others said. It's all true. She's constantly late to class, does NOT plan ahead, is fully unprepared, and (in this class at least) teaches you "Absolutely Nothing". She is by far the worst professor I have ever had.

Dr. King is a knowledgable woman who just doesn't get how to transfer that information to her students. Instead of giving clear lectures she tells extended stories on simple concepts as if they need more explanation. This is a developmental class, meaning that you should have already had basic psych and general developmental psych. If you don't understand concepts from these classes, you shouldn't be here, but she'll coddle you even if you are. If you have the choice of taking different classes I would highly recommend it. Otherwise the class is realtively easy if you can keep yourself interested enough to take notes or not nod off. There are three tests and three papers (which are really hard to mess up) and she's very lenient on the grading of tests if everyone makes a fuss about an answer.

I really enjoyed Dr. King. She worked hard to teach the information necessary without trying to be the messanger of bad news. Child Abuse and Neglect is a very depressing subject and she managed to find a balance where she didn't oversimplify or make light of the subject but she didn't make the classroom black either. Her lectures were clear- watch for her to repeat herself and say "Take note of this" etc because she will put it on the test. Also she will tell you to look at certain tables in the book- look at them it will be on the test. She doesn't believe in suprises. It helps to study with people (our class congregated outside the classroom about a half hour before and we talked through stuff).

Dr. King was very informative and objective about this difficult subject. You really need to pay attention to both her lectures and study the book well. She will tell you what to expect on the test. Knowing the correct verbage for the subject is also very importaint.

Where should I start? Dr. King is THE WORST professor I have had at Cal Poly. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure she is a very nice person, but she has no business teaching a 400 level psychology course. The class itself is easy; the reading material is manageable, the subject is interesting, the information presented is useful, the tests are all multiple choice, etc. (With that in mind I would highly recommend taking this class). My problem wasn't the class, it was the professor. First of all, Dr. King doesn't even show up until 25 minutes after the hour. Then, she wastes the next 15 minutes of class making announcements and and asking if students had questions from last class. By now, half the class is over and she gives us our "five minute" break. Well, 20 minutes later she calls the class back to attention. At this point, with 40 minutes left in the period, she begins her lecture. She starts off with a "review" from last class. This review ends up being a word-for-word recall of the previous lecture. It is not until the last five minutes of class that she realizes she better move on to the next subject. So, in sum, you spend the first hour and 55 minutes of class picking your nose, then you write as fast as possible to catch the new material (oh, but don't worry, she'll review it all next class). Spending four hours a week in her classroom was the biggest waste of my time. To make matters worse, she doesn't return your test or paper grades; you never know where you stand in the class unless you constantly hound her to e-mail them to you. Good luck with this one.

ACK! Don't bother. If you don't sign up for the class, she won't be able to teach... and she can do something that better fits her. A role that requires as much responsibility as being a professor IS NOT her calling. 1.Always late to class 2. Never returns stuff promptly 3. Wastes class time on chit-chat 4. Makes you want to SCREAM There are so many excellant psych professors. Take a different one for a different class. It could have been a great class; the textbook was really interesting. But, she's not teacher material...

Ok, the quarter isn't even over and I already now my opinion. She has canceled class four times and often comes to class late. And has had a proctor give her midterm, which doesn't seem that bad...but when you take tests as ridiculous as hers, you need her there so you can ask questions. After each test, there is at least 4 questions that everyone is questioning. She doesn't use powerpoint or an overhead....she just talks. It really seems like she doesn't want to be there. I'm very disappointed because this would be a good class if it had a good instructor. But with King teaching, it's not even worth it so don't take it.

Dr. King is a very easy teacher. Her lectures are boring and tedious at times, but nothing complex. It is very easy to miss her class because you can get the notes. There are two midterms and a final, all the material is directly from the book and the lecture notes. Paper is due dead week, but she is an easy grader. The good thing is the book is interesting and this information will help you in grad school (required to take Child abuse & neglect seminar at most schools.) Take if you want an easy A!

Honestly I don't understand why her ratings are so awful. I mean I wouldn't say she's excellent, but she definitely isn't below average by any means. She presents the information and encourages class discussion. She is usually right on time or a couple minutes late, but who cares? So are most students... The class isn't very hard and the material is pretty interesting.

She's also very helpful in her office hours. I didn't do so well on the first midterm, so I went to talk to her and she helped me narrow down where my problems were. The next midterm I got an A easily. She did cancle about 3 classes, but she took out some chapters to compensate for the missed time. She was always sure to notify us by email if class would be cancled. Overall, I would definitely take her class again.
