Super easy professor, but you won't learn much. He makes many mistakes and spends a lot of time making excuses for his lack of skills. The exams are a joke (super easy compared to other professors exams), but his grading system is unfair and very misleading. The syllabus doesn’t specify the grading criteria so you don’t know what to expect. He will not fail anyone, but you won’t get an A, unless he likes you. HE PLAYS FAVORITES! My advice… make sure he likes you.

Terrible professor, but an easy class. Two exams that I studied for about 2 hours each. Just go to class every day and pretend you care, at the end he considers participation and "interest" while giving final grades. The easiest "A" ever!

One of my easiest classes so far in college. If you just want to get an A without much effort, take his class! The exams were easy, final was a joke, so just do a little reading now and then and review the lecture notes which he posts online and you will be fine. He did the grades by just splitting our class into top and bottom half where the top half got A's and the bottom half got B's

He's an older guy and Fall 2013 was his first quarter teaching, so he's still getting the hang of it. That said, his class was pretty easy: a few quizzes, two midterms and a final, a short HW assignment due about every other day, and some reading. He's pretty funny and he'll probably regale you with stories from his time at USC with OJ. Go to class every day, do the HW, make a notecard for each test, laugh, and, whatever you do, DO NOT YAWN in class. It really throws him off his game.

This dude ran for Congress! If you ever have trouble, just tell him Hannah (pronounced like fauna) Johnson is your friend. He'll give you an A. Also be warned: if you get the highest grade in the class, he will call you out and tell the class you're responsible for breaking the curve. Laugh a lot and you'll be fine. Don't steal anything from him, he can and will chase you for hours.

This is by far the worst teacher I've ever had -- including high school. First of all, he's a psychology major that claims to be a "world class statistician" but doesn't actually know how to solve any problems unless he uses Excel or JMP to do the shortcut formulas for him. He is unorganized, inefficient, and wastes at least half of each 50 minute lecture preaching about various topics (such as a parking ticket he got in the beginning of the quarter). Going to class is a complete waste of time but he takes attendance so you have no choice but to go. His lectures are terrible and confusing, and his "explanations" are even worse - so we watch Khan academy almost every day. Although there is little homework in this class, all of it is on Excel and you are graded on how much he likes your formatting. He didn't know that there was only one week left in the quarter, so we went through dead week "learning" two lectures per day. He teaches things that no other classes cover and claims that you'll need to know it because he has "real world experience". He also claims that students don't actually learn statistics until their second stats class. Overall, this class is a complete waste of time and this teacher is horrible. If you want an easy 'A' or 'B' then this guy will probably provide (although he doesn't actually show anyone a grading scale, so how he comes up with grades is a mystery). However, if you actually need to learn some statistics and not waste an entire quarter(including tuition money) then AVOID THIS MAN.

Honestly, I want to write a good review about Dr. Uebersax....but I can't. He seems to only be teaching statistics as a way to get his own personal opinions across to someone since no one else will listen. I tried to be patient with him but receiving my final grade really pushed me over the edge. I got high A's on both his midterm and final yet still ended up with a B+ because I didn't do 1 homework assignment and missed class 3 times. Biggest hypocrite out there; he ranted on for a quarter about how the grade system is broken, yet gives me a B for missing class a couple times and not doing 1 HW assignment? Give me a break. What a joke of a teacher.

You won't learn a thing from him, exams are super easy but if he thinks you don't deserve an A he will curve you down. Participation is 10% so he can take those points off if you miss a couple of classes.
