The lab is pretty easy and it's fun. Just out in the little amount of work you need and you will get an A on it. The lab, along with your final project is 50% of your grade. The tests are somewhat difficult. If you can memorize everything on his slides, that would be good. Just a lot of material, but he is a cool guy.

I would grade him at a C+ for the quarter. The class is 3 midterms, a project, and your lab grade. The lab is fairly enjoyable and usually doesn't take longer than an hour and a half, and the project is interesting enough. My problem with him: his tests are the most memorization based tests I have ever seen, especially at a university level. How he believes the questions he's asking are important is beyond me. Basically, any percentage or statistic that appears on one of his slides is going to be asked on his MC tests. Why in the world he thinks the question of "how many cans are produced annually in the US" or "how long does the eye take to register a package" are good questions for a university class is difficult to understand.

Saha is a very nice professor, he's entertaining during lectures and knows what he's talking about. The class moves very quickly and is VERY content heavy. It's a hard class and you have to be prepared to memorize most of the slides for the test because the questions are extremely specific. The lecture has two midterms (15% each) and a final (20%), the final isn't cumulative. Focus on getting a good grade in lab to help boost the grade in lecture because half of your overall grade is what you get in the lab section of the class.

He is really funny but the tests are all memorization from the slides he presents in class. If you memorize them, you will ace the test but it is not easy and there is A LOT of information. You don't even need to show up for any of the lectures because he just reads off the slides.

I took Saha Winter 2016. He is a very straight forward professor. Just go to all the lectures and pay attention and you will do fine. Memorizing the material on the lecture slides is really important as he does ask specific questions. Yes, this may require a lot of studying but it is really easy to get a good grade if you just put in the work! He is great with answering questions in class and took the time to explain and slow down the harder concepts.

Not my favorite professor by any means. In this lab there is an overarching project you must work on and you must get it periodically checked by Saha especially if you want to leave the lab. Generally most groups finish the lab and make progress on the report in an hour and a half to two hours. Saha will then leave class for hours on end only leaving the TA's which means that on most days groups sit in the lab doing nothing waiting to be checked by Saha who is not present. He then rushes into the room does not read reports and checks groups in under 5 min each. On top of the sitting and doing nothing just cause the professor leaves his own class the labs are graded very hard with no explanation on why points are taken for many markings. There are lab guidelines, however, points are still taken off for things that are not on those guidelines. There are periodically pop quizzes that attempt to coincide with lecture material but clearly Saha and the lecturer don't communicate because they occur weeks after material is presented of before it has been presented at all. Don't take this class if you don't have to the lab is 50% of your grade so its not a small aspect and it is not worth it. Also the entire class is about cardboard boxes so its pretty much the most boring lecture you could possibly imagine.
