I love Keeling. I am not a science-person at all and would\'ve failed the class if she weren\'t so understanding. She lectures really quickly but it\'s important to pay attention because she gets a lot of her test questions from lecture. The only downside is her final is cumulative and the other section teacher\'s wasn\'t.

Dr Keeling is quite possibly one of the best teachers i have ever had. his lectures are interesting and fun and his enthusiasm for the course really motivates you to study. he cares a lot about his students and makes difficult concepts easier to understand. his chem class was the highlight of my fridays!!!

Tests are reasonable. If you pay attention in class, take adequate notes, and do the book problems, you should easily earn a good grade. My classmates and I have really enjoyed being in his class, so much so that they won't take chem with anyone else, they'd rather wait until they can get him. Personality wise, he's funny, active, and really cares about his students. I strongly recommend him.

dr. keeling is an excellent person, but his tests are not straight forward at all. the multiple choice questions are extremely tricky. i had an A going into the final and came out of the class with only a B. also he does grade on a pretty big curve but i feel that getting an A in his class is incredibly hard. although if you are only looking for a C this is your class. good luck if you want any grade higher than a C in his class without studying your ass off. i studied freakin hard for that final and i only got a 78.5% on it. which is freakin shitty!! i reccomend coumbs, his tests are so much more straight forward and fair.

Professor Keeling is an awesome teacher! He always has a good attitude and trys to help each student any way he can. He even makes it a point to remember EVERY students name in his lecture of 96+ students! Although at times he went a little fast during his lectures, if you take good notes and look them over every night you will understand what he taught perfectly. He has practice tests available for each midterm, and the midterms themselves aren't too frightening. As long as you know your notes, nomenclature, and calculations like the back of your hand, you can get a good grade. Oh, another thing...NO collected homework! He does assign problems from the book which are always helpful in reviewing for tests and making sure you understand the chapter, but he doesn't collect it. One word... FLASHCARDS!! These definitely helped me in memorizing hte neverending formulas and vocab. For all you chem majors out there, my advice would be to get to know Dr. Keeling! Show him how interested you are in chemistry, and he will help you whenever you need anything! I definitely recommend Dr. Keeling!

Keeling was probably the best professor I ever had. He was always around to help even if you don't show up at his regular office hours. Yes his lecture is long and occasionally I found myself dozing off but he tries very hard to get the information to his students the best he can... after all it is chemistry how exciting can that be!

He's a professor who really cares about his students. His lectures are really great and help you understand the material. It is chemistry though, and I recommend taking SI. I didn't do any of the bookwork and was just fine. His tests are fair, you can buy his old tests from Second Edition, its worth it! Teaching wise, he's great; but in lab, he made a lot of girls feel really uncomfortable by making out of line comments and rubbing their backs, a creepy feeling. He wouldn't be allowed to do that at any public high school! I'd still recommend taking him though, he seems to be the best teacher for the topic compared to the other teachers.

Dr. Keeling is really nice and helpful. His lectures were very organized but could be pretty boring sometimes. He was pretty good at explaining the material, but he didn't have any extra handouts or anything to help clarify. The only work he suggested was out of the book. His tests were relatively hard, but he sometimes curved the scores.

Chem is a hard subject, and since the last time I took chem was my sophomore year in high school, I didn't perform well. However, Dr. Keeling is a great teacher. I had him in lecture and in lab, and he explained things very thoroughly so that his students can understand. He speaks slowly to explain complicated subjects. The best part about Dr. Keeling was his way of writing notes on the board. I love taking outline notes. I wish that his lecture and lab times could work with my schedule this quarter, but they do not, so I have to try out Neff this time around. The exams are pretty easy, if you STUDY HIS NOTES!

Prof. Keeling is awesome!! He is super nice and is very understanding. His class is pretty hard but his office door is always open, he is always willing, and excited, to help you with any problems you have. He has recommended homework problems but does not collect them, they are only to help. He has 3 tests and a final. These tests are fairly hard but he grades them really fairly and he gives you tests from previous years to help you study. Not only is he an excellent teacher he is a really great person! I became really good friends with Prof. Keeling and I am taking Chem 128 with him this quarter. I respect him greatly, he has my highest recommendations.

I took Keeling because of Polyrating's review of him and was very disappointed. I had him for both Lecture and Lab. His Lecture's are ok, but definitely overrated, he seems to make the appearmaterial simple, but when you go to do the problems you realize he often avoided the main point. He grades lab work extremely hard, and in my case unfairly which is the main reason I really don't like him. I did all my labs on time and totally complete and I occasionally got negative scores due to some improper sig figs and a lot of zeros for very minor things. Someone else I knew in the class didn't even turn in labs and they received a higher lab grade then me. I went to talk to him and it appeared he already had an opinion of me because I did poorly on the first test, he dealt with the problem very impatiently, and treated it like it was my fault. I did well on the final and pulled off a C in the class which isn't very good, and I plan to retake this class, but NEVER with Keeling.

Dr. Keeling is a great professor. He presents the information clearly. He always tries to help his students. All or most of the information he gives in class is what the tests are on. His grading scale gives people a little wiggling room. He is very approachable and will always make sure you can meet with him if you personally have any conflicts. In the lab he was very helpful as well and will always answer questions. He is very fair! He is funny too, just in his facial expressions.

There is no doubt that 127 is a pretty tough class and Keeling isn't a bad guy to take it from. Other people have pretty much covered everything there is to say but I do want to bring attention to something that only one other person mentioned. In lab, Keeling awkwardly would put his hands on female student's shoulders or upper back during an entire conversation... some girls didn't mind but I know that it made me uncomfortable. Then again, I never said anything so I have no place to complain but just be aware of it I suppose. Beyond that, the lectures were average (good outlined material and fun examples but you can't deny the boring factor) and the tests were awfully hard but I feel that he gives you a good start to the Chem series.

This class isn't easy. i had a year of high school chemistry under my belt, and i would have done horribly in this class if i hadn't already learned half of the material already. the class moves quickly! but all chem 127 classes are this way. as for dr.keeling, he is very accessable and willing to help with any question. he is a good teacher, and a nice guy. his lectures were long, but he tries to make them entertaining (as entertaining as chemistry can get). i would recomend taking him for this class.

I am so glad I took Chem 127 with Dr. Keeling. I feel fully prepared for the next course in the series. Dr. Keeling was such a great teacher and was always prepared to teach us in a manner that was easy to understand. He was so enthusiastic about his teaching and I think that helped the students enjoy his class (at least as much as you can enjoy chemistry). His tests were very representative of the material we covered in class and he gives you ample opportunities to utilize his office hours and ask questions. He is always willing to help a student in need and he is just an amusing guy. I would recommend taking Dr Keeling. His class isn't hard as long as you study and pay attention in class!

Keeling is a fantastic teacher and wonderful guy! Take the time to get to visit during office hours, and he'll be joking with you all throughout lab and the quarter. His grading policies are clear (and given to you day one), and if you remember anything from high school chem this class will be a breeze. The only thing to be warned of is that the final was harder than the midterms.

he is a saint. a hilarious, goofy saint. i never missed a lecture. want to know why? i'll tell you why. keeling made me laugh and smile, giggle and smirk, chuckle and grin 100 percent of the lectures i attended. oh and he also did a great job of teaching the material- i guess that's important too. if you go to lecture you don't even have to open the book. seriously, don't open the book, it will only confuse you and reap the threads of knowledge and understanding of which keeling has so carefully sown. he also makes it very easy to take notes, which was perfect considering i don't know how to take notes, usually the only thing i have to show for myself at the end of a lecture is the word "boredom" written in bubble letters a thousand times on my paper. this was not the case in keeling's class. if it sounds like i love keeling, it is only because I LOVE KEELING. when he walks into the room i hear harps playing. take him.

I love this guy. He is extremely smart and tries to make the most of a boring subject. A few days it seemed that he had taken one to many shots of his expresso, but that only made it interesting. Now, I took this class later then most so prob. found it easier since I knew what to expect. Tests are hard, and the multiple choice sections are a pain, but he is fair. Realize that you NEED to keep up on the reading. You will regret it if you don't, and do some of the practice problems. Good teacher, take him if you can. Final is cum. and was brain frying so make sure you are ready for it!! So do the reading, rewrite your notes, go to class (most of the time) and you should be fine.

Dr. Keeling is an excellent professor. He presents the material clearly and with out any confusion. His tests are exactly what his lectures are...overall, there were no surprises. He is fair in his grading, letting the "+" people get the higher grade (an 88% is an A). Now don't think that he is an easy teacher. You still have to work for your grade, and how much you pay attention in lecture and do the problems at the end of every chapter will further your success in this class. I will be taking him again for Chem 128 next quarter, and will try to get him for any other class I can in the future.

Not too bad of a class really. Not easy, but not overly difficult. If you caught on to the material at all in high school you should be fine. A very amusing man and i'm definately enrolling in his 128 class!

Dr. Keeling is crazy but in a fun sort of way. Don't be scared of his weird gestures and pacing back and forth all the time. He is old school and doesn't use any powerpoint or online activities. He teaches straight from the chalk board and o does he use his chalk. Not only does he teach by writing it on the board but he uses the overhead projector with graphs and turns around to explain thigs with his hands and sometimes brings in demonstrations. While teaching about molecules and bonds he brought in those ball and stick figures to show and represent things. I really enjoyed having him not only for lecture but lab too. The only reason why I got a C was because I didn't study enough I'd say. The book to me is a waste of time and just focus on his lecture notes, practice problems, and practice tests and you'll do fine. Also if you can take the supplementary workshop because everyone who took it that i knew did better in the class. Otherwise form a study group! And very approachable in his office he has a lot of office hours due to his work load! so go see him and he'll help you out. Hope that helps!

Dr. Keeling is one of those professors that you should definitely try to personally get to know through the quarter. I went to him almost every week to receive help on concepts and I ended up doing very well in his class. As for his midterms, he puts A LOT of information on it and sometimes the multiple choice questions take longer than the short answer but they are fair tests. His grading on the midterms may seem unfair because a multiple choice question may be 3 points out of 100 but in the long run, he is generous when it comes to grading short answer problems. Reading the textbook isn't the most efficient way to do well in Keeling's class (fortunately for some) and he stresses the use of lecture notes because everyone on the test was explained in the notes and during his lectures. He gives practice problems in the packet at th beginning of the quarter and doing these is EXTREMELY important. He doesn't collect anything but doing it for your own good is smart. If you're not willing to be on top of things and to understand concepts, then don't take this class. I can't stress enough how important it is to go to his office hours just once a week! I spent, on average, 10 minutes in his office every week so I can refresh my memory of things explained in lecture and in lab and it definitely helped. Dr. Keeling is an excellent teacher, my favorite so far here at Cal Poly.

I though Keeling was a really good teacher. Every class he would write the notes on the board and he did a great job explaining them as he went along. He was very helpful during office hours. I continued to use everything I learned even from day one. Great teacher, I definitely recommend him!

Dr. Keeling is a very good teacher. You need to pay attention in class. If you understand all the material in class, it is not necessary to do all of the assigned homework problems, but it really helps. A good High School chemistry background will help in this class, but it is not really necessary. Just try and pay attention, and you will do well.

I had not taken chemistry since sophomore year of high school. It was also my first quarter as a freshman in college and I had no idea what I was getting into in this chemistry course. Granted it stinks that I will have to retake this course, I feel that it was good having Keeling to give me a reality check of how fast college sciences courses go. His tests were definitely challenging and required lots of study time, but the grade you got you deserved. He does not give quizzes or homework, so the tests were all of it. The final was really difficult, but as long as you keep up with each midterm (there were 3), the final should be manageable. Just be sure you have a lot of time to give to this class and go to lecture every time!!! Keeling is also a really quirky guy and is quite likeable. I recommend him!

Keeling was a great professor to start off with in college. I never took chemistry in high school so I had to learn everything that was taught from scratch so it was really difficult to keep up with everyone else. I think that if you took AP chemistry or even a general chem class in high school you can manage an A or a B fairly easily especially with Keeling. His tests are hard, but definitely not impossible. If you\'re good at chemistry and you study a little, you can pull off a C easily. If you\'re not good at chemistry, you may get a C with a lot of studying, but it\'s better than failing. But Keeling is really approachable and he makes his lectures fun and interesting. I definitely recommend taking him for chem 127 and 128. Keep up with the lectures and reading and you\'ll do fine

This guy is the best teacher I\'ve ever had by far. He knows his material, and presents it in a way that makes you actually want to go to class. I hate chemistry, but he gets that the people that need to work a little harder then most need the extra attention. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. you WILL learn something. and go to class, you\'ll also learn something. So, if you think this will be an easy class. its not. I have never studied for any class this hard, its a \"weed out\" class so i think he said at the beginning of the year that only 60% pass the class (and thats will a C- set at 60%) Overall keeling teaches the material very well and if you pay attention in his class the material should make sense. The man does mean well, but i had him for lab also and some of the comments he would make are outright rude and hurtful which was one of my biggest problems with him. He would be demeaning and make you feel stupid. Honestly all the chem 127 classes are very challenging, if you want to learn the material well Keeling will be a good fit, just have thick skin and dont expect to get an A very easily.

I think I must have gotten a different Dr. David Keeling. He does give practice tests and recommended problems. He was very clear and straight forward in his lectures and notes. Chem 127 is a difficult class and chemistry is my worst subject. So yes the tests are hard but if you study all the material he gives you, you should be fine. But wow could he be rude and condescending. In lab I remember multiple occasions where I didn’t see why he had to be so discourteous. The couple times I went to office hours he did help me with problems I had but I always left in amazement at how impolite he could be. Sorry Dr. K, can\'t believe I inconvenienced you to ask you a question. After all, it\'s so easy \"a child could do it\".

Dr. Keeling is the most precious man! He is SO excited about chemistry and just wants his students to learn it and love it like he does. He is very animated in class and gives excellent examples that are helpful for his tests. Although he is a great teacher, his tests are hard so you have to be prepared for them-rewrite notes, redo problems in notes, do practice problems, and go to his office hours, he\'s super helpful! If you can, try to get him for lab too because he\'s a great lab teacher because he actually answers questions in lab, unlike many lab professors. The lab section he is not very helpfull or enregetic about helping you he would rather just sit there and watch you struggle. i think he was just oblivious to the fact most the kids in the class did not get what was going on. the labs should really take an hour and a half but he will sit and watch you struggle and you will be there all 3 hours. overall the tests were abnormally really hard and i would NOT RECOMEND!

Dr. Keeling is a very interesting person, to say the least. This translates to his unusual mannerisms during class that sum up to a pretty entertaining lecture most of the time. TIPS: Write down everything he says and try to follow along (although he goes very fast and does not take many questions). Redo your notes and write down any questions you do have and go to his office hours (be specific), also, make sure to complete and understand the practice exams and questions. Overall, Keeling is a fair grader and clearly passionate about chemistry, I wish I could have gotten him for chem 128.

I have no idea why everyone is saying he is such a great professor. If I had not already taken Ap Chem in highschool, I would not have passed this course beacuse he is a terrible teacher. His lectures put you to sleep. He writes the notes on the chalkboard in outline style for the whole 2 hours. I'm more of a visual learner and like it when teachers use powerpoints or atleast show some pictures to explain the concepts they are trying to explain. So if you are a visual learner DONT TAKE HIM. He also is very bad at answering people's questions in class and doesn't understand what people are asking half the time or even know the answer himself. The midterms will kick your ass but the final wasn't as bad. That was the one thing that saved my grade. DOn't take him cuz he has a high polyrating beacause HE SUCKS!!

keeling basically sucks as a lab instructor...if u ask him questions he will not answer them, rather he will make you feel like an idiot and then walk away. he tries to play it off like hes this nice old grandpa man...but really hes a totall jack ass. if u have a calculation question he will tell you that he is not a math teacher and walk away. if u ask him at the end of the lab to look over and see if you did something right, he will look over and then say it is ok and when you get your lab back dont be suprised if it is a 4 out of 8. he gives these rediculous lab quizzes every week that are totally pointless and he takes points off for the most anal little deatails. dont take keeling for lab if u have a choice...hes a jerk...esp compared to the other chem teachers out there who really want you to succeed and will help you actually understand the material (like schoonover) the bottom line: avoid keeling at all costs...esp as a lab instructor!

I had Dr. Keeling for lab, and for about the first 8 weeks I really hated him. I was getting, and so was the rest of the class, F's on all the quizes, which are every week, and was getting very frustrated. He knows the material well, but has a hard time presenting it. He's a really quarky guy, but kinda funny. Don't hesitate to take him, but there are better lab professors out there.

Keeling is both a great guy and a great teacher. I admit that his lab this quarter was difficult, but I did learn a lot more than I did when I took lab for 127 with another instructor. His lab quizzes are very difficult, but he adjusted the grades at the end of the quarter to make it more fair. Another nice thing is that he gives you copies of the previous year's tests to help you study and to give you an idea of how the tests are. The suggested problems, though, don't always help too much for the tests. I had Keeling for 127 and 128 and got Bs in both classes. They are challenging, but he's great, has outlined notes, and is very available to help during office hours. He wants you to do well and makes himself available to help. He is a great teacher and I'm taking him for 129, too. Of course the class is difficult--its Chemistry--but try Keeling!

This guy is a dick. I liked him at the beginning, I really did. He's hard, but he's a good teacher. However, he's not very good at simplifying things. I like teachers who oversimplify. He teachers straight out of the book and if you ask him a question in lab, he'll give you a question back. What the fuck, right? If he doesn't like you, he won't pass you. He started to not like me at the end of the quarter because I have ADD and found him very boring in lab. He could've at least failed me. Now I have to retake it and have my grade averaged together. Fuck that old man though.

Professor Keeling is a great instructor, he explains the material very thoroughly outlining each topic on the board. It is very helpful to go into his office hours. I am one of those students who dread going to office hours, but Professor Keeling actually is very approachable and enjoyable to talk to. I highly recommend going to office hours for the lab section, he

I took Dr. Keeling's CHEM 128 lab and I thought it was a pretty typical college course. There's a quiz at the beginning of each lab which is fairly difficult, but if you read the lab and studied the previous lab for a few minutes before class, you should be fine. The labs and reports themselves are pretty simple. I never stayed the full 3 hours, and most of the time we were done within an hour or and hour and a half. Keeling says he is required to have a class avg of 75-80% so bonus points are given out (usually 1 pt on each quiz, 1 pt on each lab, and 5 pts at the end of the quarter). As long as you don't screw around during lab and attend each lab, this section was a piece of cake. I got a 93.1% by spending a half hr. the night before the lab was due filling it out (ie answering questions, doing calculations, and filling out obs data) and fifteen minutes before class studying for the quiz.

Dr. K is the most adorable old amn in the world. His lectures were always interesting: "The humpliness is just different for diferent reations" "...if you smooch down..." "...conatinerize..." "Whoop!-you could freeze somebody in place..." "The legitimate science of making a cold explosion" "Bet your booties" "Here's how you get one [change in entropy] for your very own self" "Work those problems out and see if you can't make them work" "Algebra, algebra, algebra" "I expect you to out them in the right friggen' place every time" "Now I think the easy part is over" "I get more silver on my fork" "...have a devious plot to get me some flourine gas and threaten to unleash it on the world" "Big computery kind of thing" "I have more than my fair share of quirks" "I taking the time to say thank you if you said nice things and if you didn't say nice things then I'm not thanking you" "Damn I am good" "I am just have to say three awkward things then we'll get going" "...just have to get Mr. Creepy [evaluations] out of the way" "Students call it a trick, insructors call it 'I wanted to if you can think'" "Ok, ok, ok" In short take Keeling if you can

Dr. K is by far the best prof ever! he is absolutely amazing. some people think his tests can be difficult. but if you study his notes and know them really well, then the tests shouldn't be difficult at all. He explains everything so clearly, and he makes the material extremely easy to understand. Sometimes his multiple choice questions are hard, but when he realizes that no one could get it, he adds points to everyone's test. He also has a preset curve, with a 60 being the lowest C. If you have the opportunity to take keeling, DO IT. you won't regret it. the one thing people have to understand about chem, is that you HAVE TO STUDY no matter who you have. if you find keeling difficult, it's probably because you didn't study enough. overall, i would say he is a wonderful prof. no one is better!

Dr. K has a great way of presenting the material. His lectures are very structured. Comparing his exams to other teachers however... he's pretty hard. He gives you problems from the book and tells you to "study your notes, study your notes, study your notes" I spent a lot of time on this class and barely passed. I studied my notes a lot, rewrote them several times, read the book, went to the SWS, did all the problems, bottom line if chem isn't your thing you'll be better off taking a different teacher. Lab is not so bad, he grades hard on sigfigs and be prepared for the quizzes.

Keeling is the best chemistry teacher EVER!!! He is able to present info clearly and simply. And he has a sense of humor which is always a plus. There are three midterms and one cumulative final. The midterms cover only lecture material (read the book anyway). Def take Keeling!

This is an amazing teacher. He makes chemistry so much fun and he sounds like YODA. One of my favortie teachers i have had at Cal Poly. Definately get him for lab to because he know chemistry like it is the back of his hand. However, his test are definately diffcult, so don\'t think you don\'t have to study. I didn\'t study at all for chemistry 127 but for chemistry 128 i had to. CHemistry 128 is supposed to be the hardest of the series but keeling is the best at teaching it.

Dr K is great, im definitely not a chem person at all but i learned so much from him even though my grade does not reflect it. His tests were indeed hard but he has very straight forward and clear notes and bases a lot of his tests off of concepts and off of his lecture notes. 3 midterms 1 final, the final was rough, lasted the whole 3 hours, but like i said chem is not my thing. His lab was harder than other sections the quizzes especially. if your decent at chem and put forth some effort youll at least get a C. Dr K is extremely helpful in office hours as well. Really nice guy!

I dont know what all you people are talking about, Keeling was SOOOOO HARD. ESPECIALLY his lab. DO NOT TAKE HIS LAB, IT WILL KILL YOUR GRADE. I realize hes a funny, personable old guy, but he has trouble getting the picture clear often, and in class he usually doesnt finish his examples and leaves the entire class confused. His tests were super hard, and theres 3 midterms instead of two, which made the suffering even more awful. Lindert has a worse polyratings score, but i thought she was WAAAAY better and easier than keeling.

I am terrible at Chemistry, I earn a C no matter who I take, but Keeling's been my favorite to flounder with. I actually gave a shit about chem, taking him. He had his boring moments, but I could stay engaged in lecture 85% of the time. He's extremely helpful and understanding in office hours and review sessions even if you're asking stupid questions. He curves his test generously. If I'd had him for 127 and 129, maybe things would be different for me and chem. I think we could've worked it out. (Key)ling's the man.

Dr. Keeling's Polyratings were sadly deceptive. I took him for 128 hoping that he would be an amazing instructor and was disappointed. Dr. Keeling is unorganized, sporadic about his teaching topics, unhelpful and condescending during office hours, and unable to effectively relate to his students. He is also somewhat full of himself and his ability to teach. He is passionate though, and that does count for him. But overall, I was disappointed in his class. I am a reasonably good student and had to work exceptionally hard in his course to receive my grade. In the end, he only presented 4 out of 92 students with A's. His tests are brutal and frustrating, especially the multiple choice portions. If you do somehow get stuck with Keeling, write down every word that comes out of his mouth in lecture because it is all fair game for the tests!

I had Dr. K for 128 and 129 and I absolutely love him, he is very organized and writes all of his lecture notes on the board which really helps. Make sure you do take notes not only on what he writes but also on what he says. He is a hard teacher, but if you go to class and actually pay attention you'll do well. Amazing teacher.

I love Keeling! He's tough, but fair. I'll admit I struggled to get a B in the class, but it was worth the effort because I actually learned the material. He has a strange sense of humor and what at times might appear to be a difficult personality, but he really cares about his students and will take the time to help you to succeed. He explains himself in a thorough and entertaining way in lecture and answers questions clearly (but make sure it's a good question). I loved him for lab because he explains the experiment in depth and will help you whenever you ask for it, although it may take the entire three hours to finish the lab. The quizzes were sometimes difficult, but always doable. As for his tests, expect to study A LOT. You'll need to review notes, read the textbook, and do as many sample problems as you can. The midterm and final were hard, expect to take all the time available. That said, I hate chemistry, but I found Keeling's class extremely rewarding and even enjoyable. He's a fun guy who cares about his students and teaches his subject extremely well. My favorite teacher thus far, I highly recommend him. Also, he kind of has a Frank Oz-esque voice and it's really amusing.

This was a hard class, but if you pay attention, read through your notes, read the book, and do the recommended problems and practice tests he gives you then you'll have everything you need to do good in his class. He is also very helpful in office hours. Chem is hard, so you'll have to put in a lot of work no matter which teacher you get, but I thouhgt Keeling did an excellent job of teaching everyone. I wish i could have taken him again!

So I has Keeling for both lecture and lab. He is a super crazy, energetic, and fun teacher. He is always very helpful and basically the sweetest dude ever. His spaziness will keep you alive and thriving in lecture. Also he's super chill in lab. We often got out an hour or so early. The only issue was his exams. OH MY. They are sososososo hard. The free response itself is not bad, but once you get into the multiple choice questions you feel like an idiot. So you should take him....but study study study!!!!

Everyone knows that chemistry can be a bitch for most people, and Keeling can help make things a wee bit better. There are two major problems with him as a see it. 1) If you are a person who tends to get drowsy in the late afternoon, don't take. Every now and then his lectures are sheer *boredom*, to the point that I feel asleep in class one day (the first time that ever happened to me!), and I wasn't the only one, evidentally that day (which he happened to be describing new stuff for the exam the next class meeting) half the class (some 35 people!) were in and out of la la land that day! As far as his tests are concerned, he *does* give you a practice exam, but be warned...the practice exams (old tests from about 5 years ago) don't cover everything that may be on the exam; there was one exam where only half the material was on there! Also, he says not to really focus on stuff in the book...yet he doesn't give you any other practice problems so all you are left with *is* the book! That being said, he's a sweet guy and very good in lab, plus his exams probably are easier than Gragson's. While not the best prof, if you study your ass off, he certainly isn't the worst either.

dr keeling is an excellent teacher. his enthusiasm for chemistry is contagious. to prepare for exams you can buy a copy of his old exams at 2nd editions and use them for practice. however, he is known to make his questions really difficult. if he goes too fast in his lecture, make use of his office hours because he will clarify any of your questions there.

Great teacher, take him if you can for Chemistry (his section always fills up first). I really don't like chem, but he made it bearable and explained everything very well. There are three midterms (Weeks 3, 6, and 9) and a cumulative final. All of these are hard, but fair. I had to study my ass off to get an A, take the S.I. class if it's offered. My best advice is keep up, everything builds on top of the last thing. I found lab was the hardest part, be prepared for his quizzes. Mostly, I felt in was nice to have a professor who both understood the material well himself, and could explain it too (he's very helpful in office hours).

This guy is great. I thought the class was fairly straight-forward. A lot of my friends hated him because the class was hard but I think Keeling did a great job presenting the material. His grading was not that bad; he tried to give partial credit when you got answers wrong. He is also a very animated person which helps if you are a person that has a hard time staying awake in a chemistry class. Take him if you can.

Dr. Keeling is by far my favorite professor at Poly. He's very straightforward in class and his tests are always exactly on the notes so be sure to study them. He really cares about his students too. If you have time, stop by his office, even just to chat. He takes great photos and usually has new ones put up outside his office every once in a while too so it's nice to walk by and see some great pics. If you get the chance to take keeling for general chem or upper divis chem class go for it. He's the best!!

Dr. Keeling has so much experience teaching; you can tell. Dr. Keeling is awesome. I wish he was my uncle because he'd be a riot at a family reunion. I had class right after lunch so I am not sure if I was sleepy from having a full tummy or that he tends to drone on a little, but he's not a major snoozer. I enjoy Keeling's class because he explains all of the material well. He has a tendency to pretend he's an electron or a molecule and bounce off the wall to demonstrate how they move. He is approachable in his office, lab, or anytime you run into him. He always has a smile on his face. As far as grading goes, he usually bumps up grades 6-8% if he feels he didn't cover something sufficiently. I love his "Science News" on Fridays. He makes class extra fun with fun useless facts. His tests are very straightforward. There is always a practice exam handed out a week before any exam and he only tests on what he lectures. There is nothing extra from the book on the test. It makes studying easier to concentrate on if you know what's not going to be on it. I plan to take him for all of the 127, 128, 129 series. He's a good one.

He hasn't kept up with what's important in analytic chemistry instead he teaches the same old bullshit and gives all the girls who wiggle their butts at him A's. He's no fuckin good.
