Nash is definitely not the worst teacher out there, his teaching just really didn't work for me. He relies on students reading and understanding the math textbook well, which was difficult for me. This was my first time taking calc and I thought a lot of kids in the class had taken calc in high school. This class also requires you to remember a lot of trig and geometry for a lot of his test questions. I was expecting this class to be hard but never as bad as me getting an F in the class. I was lost everyday in lecture because of how fast he goes through the material. He pretty much only focuses on making sure the kids getting As in the class are understanding what he's explaining. I went to a fair amount of office hours, got a tutor, and never missed class. I definitely could have put more work in but I don't know how much better of a grade I would have received; if you want to take this class be prepared to learn a lot outside the classroom reading the textbook.

Nash is a good teacher, but he does not really like to work with anyone on certain things. He refuses to let anyone make up a quiz even if he knows before hand that you won't be able to make it. He has also snapped on students several times which I did not care for.

he has all lecture notes already made before class, so it's not tailored at all towards what students need, he's ok I guess, wouldn't take again

Dr. Nash was awesome. He taught really well and his class was overall pretty easy. He would do a quick lecture in class and assign homework for that day. The homework wasnt collected, however, he used HW questions on the weekly quizzes and on the midterms/final. Definitely take his class

Homework is not collected, but you may as well do it because more often that not a homework problem will be the weekly quiz. I'm not the best at math, but Nash gave the information clearly and it was my lack of really studying hard that brought down my grade I think. He's a funny guy and the lectures weren't too boring for a math class. He also is very helpful in office hours.

I would recommend taking Nash's class. The class tempo is very quick. He goes over a different lesson every single day but you do not have to hand in homework. He assigns homework problems and I would highly recommend doing them because they usually show up on his quizzes. Quizzes are every Friday and he drops the lowest quiz score. The midterms and final were fairly easy because he gave us a review sheet and homework problems sometimes were on the tests. He was very helpful during his office hours but make sure you have specific questions. If you go to class and work on the homework problems you will do very well.

Fantastic professor. Definitely take him if you can! If you keep up with the homework, the class should be a pretty easy A, as the quizzes and tests are pretty much based off of the assignments he gives. He gives very clear explanations and he will happily go over anything you're struggling with. Great during office hours too. I 100% recommend taking Nash's class! Too bad he's not teaching Calc 3 or 4! :(

Professor Nash is pretty darn cool! While he is a new professor and all, his class was extremely straightforward. No homework is collected, but he assigns so little that it is worth your time to do it, especially as the quizzes and tests are strongly based off of it. He doesn't waste your time on nitpicking details. His midterms and final were not extremely difficult provided that you studied sufficiently. The first time I had his class, I was extremely distracted by how much he resembled David Tennant. You might be wary of taking any upper-division classes he teaches, though, because his way of presenting material can be confusing and sometimes disorganized. Luckily, Calc 2 is, in my opinion, one of the simpler math classes, and looking back, I miss having him as a professor, awkward mannerisms and all.

Nash is an awesome teacher! He's very clear in presenting his material, and even though he's newer, he definitely knows what he's talking about and how to explain things in a way that students can easily understand. I definitely suggest taking him if you can!

Professor Nash is a great guy, he cares about his students and clearly presents information. His class was pretty straight forward and clear. The lectures weren't filled with useless information, it was organized well. He didn't assign much homework and it wasn't due at all, but usually the weekly quizzes had questions pulled straight from the homework. I still see him on campus occasionally and he almost always says hello.

Daniel Nash is one of my favorite professors at Cal Poly so far. He's super friendly, understanding, a bit carefree, and presents Calculus better than any professor I've seen. If you happen to do poorly on some exams, he drops your lowest quiz and the final will make up for your worse midterm. If you have any choice, take this man immediately. You won't regret it. You'll actually like the class.

Dr. Nash explains everything very clearly and knows the material very clearly. He didn't feel as personable or approachable as other professors, but that doesn't change the fact that his teaching style is very clear and fair.

Dr. Nash is a very nice and reasonable guy. He assigns very minimal homework, and never collects it, however you should DEFINITELY do the homework since the quiz questions are taken straight from the homework. The tests and quizzes were very reasonable, verging on easy. I would recommend Dr. Nash to ANYONE!

Nash is a generous grader. If he sees that you understand a concept, however are unable to fully solve a problem you will receive solid parietal credit. I walked away from both midterms thinking I would "hopefully pass" and received a B on both. His lectures are great. If you seem unsure or lost in a lecture. Go try homework problems. If you copy what he puts on the board, you will see its all extremely helpful. Take Nash if you get the chance. 10/10 Hes also shy and awkward for no reason and its super funny.

Nash is an excellent math teacher. He has a gift for conveying material clearly. I can't say I totally understood everything we ever learned in class, but he did a pretty damn good job. My only excuse for not getting an A was that I seldom did the homeworks which were not collected so I probably underachieved on the second midterm and final. But remembering I mostly just payed attention in class, I got a 94 on the first exam. So clearly the guy can teach. Absolutely take him if you get the opportunity and be sure to do the problems he assigns. Form study groups!

Nash was pretty good. I really struggled with series and sequences but vectors and 3D calc was easy and he was pretty clear. DO THE HOMEWORK! It isn't graded but he takes problems from the homework and puts them on the quizzes. If you don't understand something, go to office hours. He will do what he can to make sure you understand. Kind of a nerd but a very personable guy.

Nash has a very straightforward teaching style. He is very knowledgeable and I highly suggest taking advantage of his office hours. Also, do the optional homework!! Often times, quizzes have problems directly from the homework with numbers changed. He is a little awkward, but that doesn't affect his teaching abilities.

Awesome prof. Definitely recommend him. Easy to follow and very helpful in office hours, as long as you come with questions. Do the hw, as the quizzes will be based on the hw, and you can get an easy 100 percent on them if you do the hw, or at least know how to solve for the answer.

Dr. Nash is the man! In the past, I took a MATH 161 class and was incredibly confused because the professor only taught us proofs yet expected us to know how to solve problems. By contrast, Nash's lectures are straightforward and always include step-by-step examples of how to go about solving various types of problems. He also does an incredible job of clarifying any confusion students may have. Dr. Nash is also incredibly funny and good spritied. The last reason Dr. Nash is the man is that he cares about student success; during dead week, he came in on a Saturday to host office hours. Maybe that's not that unusual, but I really appreciated it. If you read this Dr. Nash, thank you for sparing me an F and giving me a C- instead!!

Nash is possibly my favorite Math teacher at CalPoly. He's super nice, friendly, and explains the material in a way that is easy to understand. Please take him if you have the chance!!! The atmosphere in class is so chill and casual. His quizzes are made up entirely of questions from the homework, so as long as you do the homework you're golden. Plus, some major exam questions come from the homework as well, so you'll regret not doing them if you're the type to slack off. On another midterm, there was one question I recognized from the homework and had somehow memorized the answer to, so when I got a different answer on test day I knew to check my work. Lo and behold, I'd made a calculation error and corrected myself. Ended up getting a 105% on that test. (For that one midterm, there was some ambiguity so he just gave everyone an extra 10%. Man, give this guy an award.)

This was my favorite class in my first quarter. He made really funny and nerdy jokes that made the whole class laugh and I learned the material well. He was a little bit awkward but nice. The work load was manageable and his office hours were very helpful when I was struggling with any course work. I got a C on the first midterm but started putting a lot of effort into the class and ended up getting an A.

Don't hesitate to take him! I notice that most of the Calculus teachers have the similar teaching style, Nash is one of them. They all generally explain you the concept and follow up with an example to prove the concept. It is an effective method, but the effectiveness depends on the professor. Nash is kind of an awkward but cute person, makes nerdy/awkward jokes that lighten the mood up. He is very approachable and helpful.

Im not sure exactly why everyone loves Nash so much, in my eyes he was more of a 2.0 rating. For lectures he is a robot that reiterates the book, and does not get very involved or passionate. Every test given is fair, and reasonably helpful during office hours. If you are better at learning by teaching yourself this class will be great. If you need a professor that will act as a translator between you and the book, take another prof.

This was my favorite class to take this quarter. Dr. Nash made the class very easy to understand and follow. Nash is one of the best math professors I have had at Cal Poly, and I have had professors with high ratings too. His lectures are very straightforward, mostly mirroring the book but presenting the material in a way that was significantly easier to follow/understand. He does go pretty fast sometimes. For Calc 4, he spent a lot of time proving things, which was useful to a point but not really quite as much for some of the material. Maybe that was just the nature of calc 4 rather than his particular teaching style, as a lot of other professors seemed to be doing this too. He never collects homework but DO IT ALL because the quizzes are pulled directly from the homework. The exams are pretty straightforward, not difficult if you do the homework and his study guides. Take this professor!

Dr. Nash was an excellent math professor. He really cares about his students success, and tries to make sure everyones understands the material. Your grade is based on quizzes, midterms, and a final. The quizzes are questions directly taken from the homework, or very similar. So make sure you do it! The midterms are also straightforward if you do his practice sheet. (He also puts homework questions on the midterms). The final was straightforward as well if you remember everything from the homework and review sheets. The reason I got a C was because I didn't do the homework, and missed lectures. But it is quite easy to get a B if not an A if you put in the work. Overall, I would recommend him.

Fantastic professor. Nash explains material very well and goes over many examples so that you fully understand the material. His finals and midterms are very straightforward and aren't too difficult provided that you study. The key to being successful in the class is doing the homework. He doesn't assign that much so it really isn't that difficult. Also he pulls the quiz questions straight from the homework.

Professor Nash was incredible! He explained the concepts clearly and really helped break down triple integrals into really easy concepts. The homework was optional, but at least take a look at the questions. The tests and quizzes are almost directly from the homework, and there aren't any trick questions. Also, the lowest quiz gets dropped from your grade. I never had to go into office hours but he seemed friendly and more than willing to help. I HIGHLY recommend Nash, and I seriously regret not taking him for Linear I as well.

Nash is the best!! I honestly love him. I had him for his first time teaching Linear and he killed it. In office hours I would get frustrated because he wouldn't tell you how to do the problem, he just asked you questions, but he was so helpful and it helped me out more by not giving me the answer right away.

I thought Nash was a really basic professor, he knew his stuff inside and out which is a plus. I have gotten A's in all the other calc courses here and when I had Nash I felt like I was going to get an A once again. However, quizzes I spent a lot of time studying for just to get a minor mistake off on one of the two problems leaving me with minimal partial credit and an 8/15 on that quiz. So if you perfect all the quizzes you should get an A, he will give medium difficulty problems on tests and really wants to see what you don't know. I spent a lot of time preparing for midterms and especially the final and still found that the one type of problem I couldn't do perfectly was always on the exam. I would avoid Nash in the future personally only because I know I would have to put in a lot of work just to get a B.

Nash is a wonderful professor, really responsive on questions in class and office hours. Hes super nice and knows the material well. If your class is all asleep and doesnt even respond to his questions, then he'll get frustrated (understandably). If you want to just sit on your phone and expect to understand the concepts - then you're in for a bad time. Do the suggested problems!!! They help a lot!!!

Dr. Nash has to be the best linear analysis teacher out there. Linear is a difficult class, but his notes were phenomenal, tests very fair, and he is a generous grader. I had him at 8am four days each week, but it was absolutely worth the early wake-ups to actually understand the material so well and be properly assessed on it.
