Jones, Bobbi  

Dr. Jones is rude, arrogant, and condecending. She constantly degrades all other disciplines in business: marketing, finance you name it - yet she doesn't offer any explanation as to why. Her teaching skills are so primitive going to class provides little value. e.g. a lot of time is spent going through quiz questions in which a student reads from the text then answers the question. This goes on for what seems like forever. Could this not be assigned for outside homework and she actually TEACH something while in class? If she spent less energy on being rude to anyone who doesn't adhere to her "accounting is everything" montra, and more on educating I'f feel like I learned something. Is this the best Cal Poly can do?

Honestly- she is a little scary and totally tries to be intimidating. I don't really know if what I learned in that class was based on her lectures or whether it was more out of the book. She is pretty condescending I would have to agree... and cocky. Her exams are ridiculously difficult. You can study for hours and hours and still get a D or a C on them. Luckily, she is very BIG on curving. I'm assuming she has to be the way she grades tests. Do your homework and come to class b/c she does give decent lectures. This is a REALLY hard class, but there is a bright side...she brings candy.

I took this class when it first came out, and I liked it. I was in a good group so overall, the class was fun to go to. Dr. Jones has since changed around the structure of the class, but I recommend this class since it's not as hard as your typical accounting class, and it introduces you to something new. In my class she was a fair grader, tests were not very hard, and she really tried her best given the material (SAP).I do think though that if you have to take the CPA test you should take Anderson's 420 class because I learned a lot in his class this quarter.

I have had Dr. Jones for several classes and she is so rude you would not believe. If you go talk to her and she tells you something, do not expect her to remember it a few days later. She will repeatedly deny something even if there are witnesses. Because students don't know anything in her eyes. She is always talking about how the COB is horrible. She compares Cal Poly to other schools she has taught at and talks about how cal poly does not stand up. Anderson is not easy but at least he is helpful if you have a question. If you have a choice don't take 429 although, I think that the accounting department has decided to make it mandatory. Sorry for all of you that have to take this class. Good luck to you all.
