Great professor. He is very chill. He knows all his construction material! People dont like that he does not push you to turn in stuff and actually study. HELLO!! Welcome to college!

Hal is a horrible teacher. Ya, the CM students might like him cause he's lazy, but everyone's grade suffers. His tests are horrible. The reading is dry, but you have to do it because he wrote the book. The class is based around a mock project in which the class is divided into subcontractors, contractors and designers. The project never succeeds. If you want to make Hal happy do a lot of paperwork, even if you don't know what's going on. If you are a minor, he will rag on you the whole quarter. He has some kind of superiority complex about the CM department and their contribution to the world. You can't get around having him for a teacher, but talk to more students to get the shortcuts for the class.

You definitely won't get much direction as far as what you should be doing in class. Also, you won't get any sort of definite feedback about how you're doing in the class. I think if I were running my own business, Hal would be a good person from whom to get advice. However, he is not the best at communicating material in his classes. Hal doesn't expect much from his students, so you end up not having to do a whole lot to pass. But, if you actually want to learn something useful, do the readings, go to all the lectures, and ask lots of questions. Hal has a lot of hands-on knowledge, it seems.

Hal is a good guy, he knows alot about the construction industry and he is always willing to help if you talk to him. He is lazy because the students are lazy. It is impossible to get anything lower than a B in his class unless you are a DUMB ASS..... opps i just saw someone with a D. Bottom line get to know Hal, he is a good source of info, besides companies always call him to ask about the students they interview so if Hal knows you you are set. TRUST ME

Fucking awesome. Hal knows his shit and loves talking to you about it. Take him if you want to learn the real world aspect of construction. Yes he rags on basically anyone who isn't a CM major and even those of the female gender, but it's hilarious and makes the class quite entertaining.

Hal's lectures have no structure, he is habitually late to class (if he even shows up), project material is unexplained...I do not recommend this instructor if there are other professors available

Lazy man. ALWAYS late to class. He knows the material but does not present it properly. It is a shame there are no other teachers in the department that teach this course. I do not recommend.

Hal is all about the real world. He doesn't feed you a bunch of theoretical Bull Sh.. like so many other professors. If you pay attention in class, ask questions and participate you will take a lot from this course that is usefull in the building industry and earn a good grade. The homework load is fair and balanced. Hal is one of the last "Old Shool" guys remaining in the CM department, take advantage of his knowledge. I wish the CM department still had more "Dinosaurs" like Hal.

Avoid Hal as much as possible. He assigns work but never gives you a clear description of what to do or how to do it. Never gives anything back. Don't expect to know your grade until after the quarter. Even though we had we already had a project due, he decided to assign another during dead week
