Katie was an entertaining teacher to listen to as she is corky and is very enthusiastic about math. I took math up through AP Calculus in high school and i struggled with some concepts she taught this last quarter. They were taught in a manner i thought was more confusing and harder to understand. Not much hw in the class just the occasional 5-15 math problems do weekly. Tests were difficult in my opinion, beyond concepts we learned in class.

Katy is a pretty cool teacher. She presents the material well, and makes it easy to understand what is going on. But be careful on the homework, it is a large part of the grade (25% I believe) and she grades the assignments very, very hard. But other than that she is a good teacher, and a really cool person.

Honestly, I couldn't have possibly imagined a worse calc teacher than Muckle. She's a young girl and she clearly has good intentions, but she fails on just about every front as a teacher. For one, her lectures are pretty damn hard to follow. She cuts a bunch of corners when she presents new material and doesn't always explain what she's doing, so if you don't ask a lot of questions, you're gonna end up with notes that provide no real help. Also, the examples she presents in class rarely match up with what's on the homework or quizzes, so if you don't go to office hours and beg her to explain everything, you're pretty fucked. Homework is worth 25% of your grade and is graded REALLY harshly. Miss a negative sign in the middle of a page long problem? 3/5. Attempt a page long problem but make an early mistake? 1/6. Also, she never makes any attempt to clear up homework issues or address them in class. Quizzes are also worth 30% of your grade. Quizzes are usually focuses on a few random tid bits of stuff from the book, and rereading notes will rarely prepare you at all. There are quiz corrections which are pretty helpful, but the quizzes themselves usually aren't very indicative of what was taught. Also, you can't make up any quizzes, so you miss one quiz and hey, say goodbye to 4% of your grade (made worse by the fact that the class was on a Friday). Overall, the class was terrible. Muckle can't teach for shit (which I guess is somewhat expected for a grad student), but she doesn't even try to make up for it with a curve or anything. Most everyone that I spoke to failed the final, and without a curve most everyone fell into C range. DO NOT TAKE MUCKLE. At least the other grad students curve... I had friends that came into the final with a B, failed, and ended the class with a B+. Just avoid Muckle...

Ms. Muckle is a really nice person and really means well. However she is an awful teacher. Her lectures don't match up with any tests or homework and she doesn't know how to meet the needs of students despite the small class setting. Her homework is graded on every problem and is crazy difficult. Also, she grades harshly on every test. You have to go to office hours and when you are there be persistent, because she never wants to help with anything.

Super nice person who means well but her lectures are way to confusing and dont help with hw or the test. Make sure to go to office hours and get the hw done early!! I always waited until the last minute to do it which made everything hard to understand.
