Dr. Jankovitz genuinely cares about her students. Her class is not hard if you do the work and go to leactures and recitations. It's a great class. I got an A from her while putting out not a TON of effort, but you just have to do the reading and the work. I'd recommend her class to anyone.

The material for the class is just boring to anyone who's had health in high school. Despite this she tries to make it fun. Sometimes her happy attitude can be annoying, but lectures are tolerable. Going to class isn't that important cause she just puts the book into powerpoint. Suprisingly, the midterms requre you to be more familiar with the material than you would think.

This class was a joke and kinesiology and P.E. as a major is a joke. It is insulting how easy this major is. Hey all you P.E. and KINE get of your lazy asses and take a subject that requires you to think a little. I know this may be hard for some of you since you didn't have much up stairs to begin with and that is exactly why you chose P.E. or KINE as a major. And Dr. Jankovitz what the hell is a Ph.d in P.E. worth. I'm quessing nothing.

Jankovitz is a great teacher. She is very nice and she tries to make the subject as interesting as possible. That being said, it is just a basic health class, with not much to add from high school health. She does manage to get a lot of guest speakers, and also shows many videos, which are suprisingly interesting. She assigns one term paper on any health subject you want, and it isnt very hard at all. The tests are not that great, because she asks you such specific questions that you dont really remember, but other than that she is a very good teacher

If you are looking to take a GE class, make sure you take KINE 205 with Dr. Jankovitz. She truly cares about her students and making sure that they get all the information they need, especially before an exam. I specifically remember her stating that anyone could come in and re-watch the videos shown in class during her office hours. Also, being able to e-mail her and knowing that she would e-mail you right back was a bonus! Just to let you know that when she says that she is going to give pop quizzes during the quarter, she is lying. She only gave us one and told us that were were going to have it 3 days earlier. Also before the midterm and final exam she makes a sutdy guide which I higly reccomend printing out before the exam to study from. All the stuff that is on the exams is on there and nothing else!! The only bad thing I would ahve to say about Dr. J's class is the the amount of paper I had to use to print out all the lecutres, but it was worthit becuase alot of the stuff comes from the lectures on the exam! Over all, TAKE DR. J FOR KINE 250 if you can get her, but hurry because her class fills up quick and she will only take graduating senior and grad students to fill the no-shows.

This class is great because you get your requirement out of the way and it is not ridiculously hard. Basically you have a midterm, some easy credit assignments, term paper and a final. Plus there are LOTS of options for extra credit. The lectures are straight out of the book pretty much, but its a good review. Jankovitz is a pretty enthusiastic teacher and she seems to really enjoy talking to her students about the class. I recommend this class to everyone.

This class is just plain annoying. She treats everyone like fifth graders, requiring you to write a paper, turn in a rough draft, get documentation that we got it edited, and then turn in a final draft. We're in college lady, we can handle writing a paper. She also has limited knowledge of the subject material and had other people do her lectures for her a lot of the time. She often made mistakes about the "facts" she was presenting as well. She did not clarify student difficulties at all. She lectures for the whole two hours and doesn't give you a break. She doesn't remind you of any assignments, and puts much of her class online and takes the easy way out. The class itself is pretty easy, much of it is common sense. Two tests, one paper, and a lot of worthless assignments comprise your grade for the class. She needs to get on the ball, read up on the current literature, and get organized. The class is a pretty easy A, and is pretty entertaining at times, but she can be really annoying.

If you are into watching someone recite a powerpoint presentation word for word for 2 hours every meeting period this class is for you! Oh I forgot, there is an occasional low-budget circa 1980 blockbuster about flus and whatnot around every other bend. Not to get too negative, overall she is a very gitty and mostly happy teacher. The content isn't too interesting, but its all recite and receive information. Nothing difficult. Just shut up in class or you will get the ever so notorious eye rolling and shaking of the head. Watch for it... it's just wonderful. Good Luck!

She's a really nice lady, but it's hard to make a two-hour health lecture interesting. My only gripe is that sometimes the information she gave either conflicted or didn't exactly fit the book, making it hard to find what to study. Other than that, she's a good teacher. Just make sure you take great notes if you don't read.

Dr. Jankovitz is a nice lady. The course material is pretty basic and the notes are pretty much the book put into powerpoint. At times it can get boring because she explains the notes in great detail and what could be an hour class turns into 2. Go to class- she often has unanounced guest speakers who always show up on the test and they usually aren't too bad to listen to. Reading isn't that important- just print the notes from blackboard and you're set!

This class was an absolute joke. If you can take it to fulfill a GE i would highly recommend it. Dr. Jankovitz is the nicest person in the world, and the class consists of her reading off her power point presentation which you can print out ahead of time so you can just sleep through class. You have to write a research paper on a topic of your choice, and if you even barely half-ass it you'll get a B on it. The midterm and final are questions straight from the book or notes. Easy, fun class and some interesting info, all extremely easy to learn. Take this class if you have the opportunity...you wont regret it.

Jankovitz is alright. This is such a bologna class, I probably could have pulled a C- on the final without taking the class. She is one of those lazy powerpoint only teachers, which I hate. She makes you print out a ton of these horribly organized handouts to copy notes onto and she thinks she is doing you such a huge favor. To some, she is really nice, but she came across as unbelievably fake. Take her, its an easy class and she is pretty hot, but don't expect much.

This class was a very easy class. The assignments took about 10 minutes and there was only a few of them. Stay on top of those and do a little extra credit and this class is no problem. Most of the lectures come straight from the book, but I recommend not missing class because she shows videos often. There are a lot of questions on the midterm and final from these videos. I also recommend looking over the midterm before the final. It helps a lot and there are a lot of questions from the midterm on the final. This class should be easy, so don't stress!

This teacher was able to present material in a clear way. She provided powerpoint notes of the slides she used during class and left space soyou could take more notes. It seemed like she knew exactly what she was talking about 99% of the time. This class was filled with valuable information that I will always remember. The only downside was it was held in a 150 student lecture hall, so it wasn't very personal.

This class is a joke. I would go to class and find myself ALWAYS falling asleep, and ended up taking off half way through most of the time. If you've taken health education before, then you know what this class is. You get to learn all the same things over again. This said, class is rarely useful except for the videos which you should ALWAYS see because she tests extensively on those. I never read the book, just glanced over my friends' notes with them and did fine. There is a reasearch paper that she makes you do which is fairly simple and you get to choose the subject material. Put a little into this class and do better than i did, what else could you ask for?

She has a positive attitude and is always bizarrely cheery, except if your class doesn't shut up when she wants you to and then she gets all sarcastic and actually pretty funny. Same as everyone else has said. If you're looking for an easy GE class, this is it. The lectures are so boring but if you can make it through most of them you should get at least a B. She's really peppy, which gets on your nerves when you're at a class early in the morning that you really don't want to be at, but other than that she's really nice and helpful. The material is basic stuff that most people should know already so you don't need to study too hard. Jankovitz is a nice teacher, very peppy for 8am in the morning when half the class is sleeping through her endless slides (myself included). Overall the class is pretty darn easy if you put a little time into reviewing the notes. Stock up on paper before hand because you go through a ton printing out all of her slide lists. There are a few misc. assignments at the beginning of the quarter that are extremely easy, there is one short paper to write and is also pretty easy, she gives you a list of things to study for the midterm and final which helps a lot, and on top of that you can earn up to 15 points of extra credit by doing really easy things. Don't bother to get the book, I opened it once and read about a paragraph before I was bored to tears because so much of the material is common sense. I really didn't put that much work into this class and got a B and could've gotten an A if I hadn't been an idiot and screwed up on my paper but that was my own fault. So if you're looking for an easy GE class I would definately recomend this one and Jankovitz is fairly nice and helpful if you need help.

Worst class ever. This teacher thinks everyone is in 1st grade. One time she spent 10 minutes describing what an acronym is. Her lectures could be summed up in about 5 minutes, she expects you to print out 15 pages of notes for each day of class but you can just write them down on one page cause there aren't any notes to take cause she doesn't have any content to her lectures. She seems nice during class but out of class she is really mean. Her tests are ridiculous, her questions are either really obvious or completely ridiculous, she expects you to memorize lists and numbers that are impractical. I highly recommend not taking this class. I know she is the only teacher for KINE 250, so take psychology. Her tests are 115 questions, so instead of the normal 100 question scantron you have to get a 200 question scantron for 15 extra questions. No big deal, but on her test she had a question that said FREE POINT

i took this class fall quarter of my freshman year. it wasnt too bad. she gives barely any "real" assignments that count for anything. go to class and take notes from the book, pay attention to the study guide because almost everything she tests on is from it. the term paper is a big part of your grade but if you make sure you give her everything she asks for you will be fine. her aids grade them anyway. overall a pretty easy class especially if it isnt your first quarter at cal poly. she is a really nice lady and is passionate about the material she presents, even if it gets a little repetitive. it sucks getting up at 8am but i think that going to almost every class is what made me understand all the material and do well on the tests.

I thought this class would be fairly interesting and easy but it has ended up being the most annoying class in the whole entire world. Professor Jankovitz has her students waste more paper than anyone I've ever known in this whole world, having you print enless pages of lectures to bring to class every week. The lectures are so boring, and she is dull and repetitive. Also, never go ask her a question or anything, cause even with the simplest question she'll find a way to be a complete bitch. Taking this class was the worst decision I've made at college so far. Dr. Jankovitz is the most annoying teacher/ person in the entire world. I started out thinking this class would be a fun, easy GE that I could go to stoned and get an A but the class made me want to kill myself. I tried going to class high and it was horrible. I tried going to class sober and it was worse. Not only was this class annoying, the tests were ridiculous. They weren't hard but she would cram a billion chapters into one quiz so you'd have to study all these health terms and it takes hours. First off, the person below me is a complete idiot. I took this class fall quarter and i found it very difficult to wake up and go (it was from 8am-10am). Because the class is so large she does a 2 hour power point and it can make you fall asleep (so bring coffee and snacks!) her quizzes aren't that hard at all, but you have to be in class for the movies (she loves to ask tons of questions on those). he midterm and final aren't bad, she throws in some questions like "mark c for this number". overall the class was boring, i thought it would be interesting when i registered for it, but it is an easy b. jankovitz has a lot of energy and offers some good extra credit opportunities, her term paper is bogus (i really don't think she reads them!!). i wouldn't take this class again, but i am glad i got it over with!

Dr. Jankovitz is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. After reading all of the evaluations this professor had from the others, I was expecting some old hag to be teaching this class. Instead, I got an extremely lively teacher that gets very excited about healthy living. I took this class over the summer so it was extremely impacted, but the way she presented the material made it more bearable. Yes, the powerpoints are a little tedious at first, but she has some fill in the blanks so you'll need to pay attention in class. The final was amazing if you have a photographic memory. It is cumulative but the questions regarding the old material are all old test questions. The problem I had was that I studied everything i thought i neede to know and she provided a study guide, but there were things on the test that i could not possibly remember unless she told us we needed to know it. they werent on the study guide or on anything she lectured. Pay attention to the videos VERY CLOSELY. The questions get very specific and hard. She was a good teacher, but didnt prepare enough for tests

Professor Jankovitz is an amazing teacher. She is so enthusiastic about health its ridiculous, it actually made me want to pay attention. Your grade is composed of 5 online assignments which each have a quiz, survey, and discussion question component, your behavior change project, one midterm, and the final. The midterm was relatively easy, as were the online assignments and behavior change project but the final was quite difficult. This class is worth taking if you want to learn a lot but to be honest, there are much easier classes for this GE requirement.

I would definitely recommend this teacher. You are pretty much guaranteed an A if you put in a small amount of effort. There are easy online quizzes (the answers can be found in the book), she gives lots of extra credit, and she is an easy grader for the blogs and behavior change project. It is also a very interesting class. The only problem was that the midterm and final were a little tough but having extra credit and high quiz scores will boost your grade.

This class is a joke i only went to the midterm, the day to turn in behavior change project, and final. If you have to study for these tests you are a damn retard and shouldn't have ever been accepted to cal poly.

Great teacher, but man is this a STUPID course!! I can live healthily on my own without having to get graded on it, thank you very much!!! That the State of California thinks I need to spend 4 hours a week going to this waste of time is insulting.

Jankovitz is a decent teacher. Healthy Living is a wasteful class. Jankovitz seems to think Healthy Living is the most important class anybody could take in their entire life. Last night I finished my homework, 4 online surveys (one of which required a 5 day food diary), an online discussion board essay, and a 50 question online quiz. Today I finished printing out my 46 page behavior change project. This class is unbearable, Jankovitz makes it twice as unbearable as it has to be. Take a different professor.

AVOID at ALL COSTS! There are such easier KINE classes that you can take. She gives absolutely ZERO s*hits about her students, and would rather see her students fail than succeed. Everything that is on the midterm and final is complete BS. She does not go over any of it, so have fun. I'm so glad this class is over

Jankovitz is a decent teacher for an ok class. I definitely learned something from the KINE 250, whether or not I will ever use it is up for grabs... -She sticks pretty closely to her syllabus. So even though it is like 6 pages long, I'd read it through at least once. -She's not very approachable before/during class, but very helpful in office hours (the one time I went). -The Final was harder than I expected, so if you really want to get an "A" you have to read the book. -Also, Jankovitz uses "Healthlab" online and had trouble with the technology at the beginning of the quarter. Fair job at what she is given with, but if I could do it over, I might opt for Phych 201 or Personal Health KINE 255 (to get the USCP out of the way) instead for GE D4.

Jankovitz commits the cardinal sin of GE classes. She assumes that her material is new and that it is vital to your college education. If you took high school health, this class offers nothing you haven't heard, at least in general. Jankovitz is a good speaker. I never begrudged the time in lecture, just the time outside of class. However, she does know her statistics. I don't know if she was making them up or not, but she had a number for almost any question. Her tests go beyond the lecture. She'll mention a statistic in passing, and it will show up multiple times on the test. Everything is done online. There are several sets of quizzes, surveys, and discussion topics. All of these are from an online service. She gives a beast of a project. It's a behavior change project that requires planning, weekly logs, and busywork. So much busywork. If you want to explain why you choose to exercise more a dozen different ways, you'll enjoy the project. As a side note, if you're gay or lesbian, the sexual health section is worthless. You'll be mentioned once or twice, as an STD statistic. It focuses exclusively on avoiding pregnancy and guys date-raping their girlfriends. The syllabus implies that it would be otherwise, but it's all hetero-normative. If you're trans*, you'll be as marginalized as ever.

First off, Professor Jankovitz does not demand much of her students outside of class. The only homework is the online learning modules whcih usually consist of a few surveys, a quiz, and a short discussion board assignment which she does not grade very harshly. If you want to succeed in this class though, YOU MUST GO TO CLASS! I cannot stress this enough. The big Behavior project which she assigns is not particularly difficult but it is very time consuming so start on it early. The final and the midterm are based on pretty much everything presented in class. Finally, pay attention to the guest speakers that come in because those are very helpful. Overall, an awesome teacher who makes class enjoyable and interesting. Even for a GE, I enjoyed this class.

first off, she takes this class too seriously(we're all taking it for a GE). she's like a high school teacher in the way that she throws a fit if you pack your bags early or have to leave the lecture early. she also seems unorganized/unprepared when there are technical difficulties(she ain't tech-savvy for shii). BUT, she loves her area of study and that is what i respect. guaranteed B. go to class, take notes. midterms will be mostly lecture. read the book! she puts some random stuff on tests from the book. and do your online stuff...it could help you get an A.

She is passionate about her subject and is extremely knowledgeable. Her class may be boring though and she herself seemed unprepared in the event of technical difficulties. She also takes the class wayyyy too seriously, but that may be a boon for certain students who finds the class interesting. Overall a very knowledgeable professor, just not the right person for me who wants an easy GE.

AWFUL CLASS AND AWFUL TEACHER. I worked my ass off, did all the homeworks and quizzes, showed up to class, and studied really hard for the final and could still only pull a C. There was so much busy work that it ended up being one of my hardest and most time consuming classes when I was expecting it to be an easy A. Jankovitz is a psycho and takes the subject matter way too seriously. She also never updates our grades so I had no idea what I had in the class until after I got my final grade back. I would recommend not taking this class if it has to be from her.

I had Jankovitz for Kine 250 and 265 and both classes were pretty pointless but required for Kines. A lot of the material was common knowledge and was repetitive, but Jankovitz was a pretty good teacher. She knows a lot on the subject and was able to explain everything very clearly. She was also super helpful in office hours, but I feel like she sometimes treats students like they are in elementary school.

This was my absolute least favorite class. Originally, I felt bad for Jankovitz because she teaches a boring subject to a bunch of rowdy freshman and can never get the class' attention. However, after reaching out to her in office hours, I realized that she couldn't give less than two shits about her students. She preached to me about how awful our generation is and how "we only memorize things for tests" yet her tests posed to be extremely nitpicky minor facts from lecture that were impossible to memorize. Her lectures are awful; everyone stops going after the first few weeks. The bottom line is that she doesn't care about her students nor their success. This class made my first quarter living hell. I would strongly advise against it.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER FOR A GE. The book and presentations are easy to understand however her tests are absolutely impossible. She takes the smallest pieces of information and expects everyone to memorize them. It is extremely difficult if you are taking this class for a GE because you are expected to know the entire anatomy of the body and the exact functions of everything; even if there was only a sentence on it in the book. The tests are 70% of your grade and they are not reflective of the course material. If you are not a kinesiology student, you are setup to fail this class.

Dr. Jankovitz made this class worthwhile. A lot of the material is common-knowledge, just-use-your-head kinda stuff, but she made it interesting and spoke on not just the basics but she went indepth on a lot of subjects - not stuff you need to know for her tests, but interesting nonetheless. I recommend going into her office hours after each midterm to look over the questions you missed - for us, the final consisted of the SAME questions on both midterms plus a little extra from the material from the end of the class. If you do the reading and take notes in class, you'll do fine. She lets you know via email what she expects you to know on her tests AND quizzes, and she doesn't put much else on them, which is nice. You know what to expect, and what to study, so really all you gotta do is put in the effort. I wouldn't say it's an "easy" A because for some reason not many people got As, but I think people just thought it was a joke of a class (which is unfortunate) and just blew it off. This is a class where your grade will DEFINITELY reflect the amount of effort you put into studying/preparing for tests, so my advice: Just do the work, and you'll do fine.

one of the biggest bitches in the world! i didn't learn one damn thing. i wanted to go up to the front of the room every morning and slap the shit out of her. first of all, when she taught, it was boring, long, and she was al over the place with what she said. i went to every single class and i still got a B, and i am a 4.0 student. secondly, she makes a million times harder than it should be cause all the information that she teaches you is basically comes sense, like "don't smoke it;s bad for you" and shit like that. i guess i went into the class thinking it would be easy and it really wasn't. so don;t think this is just an easy GE class, CAUSE IT'S NOT

Jankovitz is a nice enough lady. I disagree with some of her personal opinions, but overall she does a good job presenting the material. Her lectures are very boring; I tried to take notes for the first 3-4 weeks or so, but by week 5 I was bringing my MacBook to class just to make it through without falling asleep. That being said, I think it is important to go to lecture for this class. I've only missed two lectures all quarter, one time the class ended up being cancelled anyway. About half the class shows up most of the time so she has given us some extra information about the final, and even allowed us to write our own question for the final, that the other students who don't go to class won't get. If you have taken KINE 266, then you will find this class very similar. There is one midterm, three online quizzes (which you can Google almost every question and find an answer to), three homework assignments, one 3 page essay, a group presentation with people who wrote on a similar essay topic as yours, and the final. She's a very easy grader and is also willing to offer help. She puts all of her PowerPoints online, so if you study those and retain some info from the online quizzes and the guest speakers you should do fine in this course.

Jankovitz is a very nice lady and grades fairly. I did well in the course, but the course is pointless. It is a repetitive or redundant course that I believe is simply taught and offered to appease Jankovitz because she has tenure. Everything taught is taught in more detail and more effectively in KINE 298 and 266. She is horribly organized, assigns an obscene amount of busy work with pointless assignments, projects, and quizzes. It is an obnoxious amount of work and shows that she does not recognize that we have other classes. She is horribly unorganized and will send you articles and assignments to complete for class the day before they are due or even the morning of. She is constantly changing assignments and directions, and even when she does this the directions remain unclear, and confusing and even going to her office hours it is obvious that she is not even sure how to explain it. She says one thing but wants the other. Do not take any more than the minimum number of classes to remain full time when you take her class because you will not have the time to do all of the work. And she will not teach you most of the semester so in order to learn anything and do well on the exam you must read the entire book for each of the 3 exams or you will fail. The only positive is she is a fair grader.

I have mixed feelings about KINE 265. Your grade is made up of 5-6 small written assignments, 4 online quizzes, a group presentation, a multimedia final project, midterm written exam and a final written exam. Conceptually the class is not hard--you just have to stay on top of the large amount of information and when assignments and quizzes are due. Dr. Jankovitz is very well versed on the subject of Public Health. It is clear she is very passionate about the topic and wants her students to succeed. She is accommodating if you talk to her personally--she even let me take a quiz late. She makes detailed study guides that prepare you for the midterm and final. In class, she even talks about what will be on the exams. On the downside, the class itself is very disorganized and a waste of time. Jankovitz goes completely off topic a lot and can ramble on for 30 minutes straight. Most students skip class a good portion of the time or bring their laptop to entertain themselves during class. On top of this, Jankovitz changes the dates and requirements for assignments frequently. Also, it doesn't help that the polylearn page for this class if ridiculously disorganized. TIPS FOR GETTING A GOOD GRADE: constantly check polylearn to see what is due, skim the book and polylearn powerpoints for the midterm and final, allot two to three days to study for the midterm and final -- know everything on her study guides, go to her office hours and talk to her about your final multimedia project, and make sure to do all of the online quizzes (they close at midnight)--quizzes are easy points because all the answers are on quizlet!

Going into this class, I thought it was going to be cake being a transfer student. Boy was I wrong. One of the most boring, annoying and irrelevant classes I have ever taken in college. If it wasn't a required course for my major and I knew then what I know now, I would have ran far away from this class. Jankovitz is hard to listen to because she talks so much about pointless things you'll never use in your life and talks to you like you're in kindergarten. Her assignments and readings on poly learn are so disorganized and has you do a bunch of busy work with it. Also, you have to do a couple major class projects that take away from you being able to actually study for her midterm/final and for your other classes. Her testing is ridiculous, be ready for a lot of writing and stuff you didn't learn in lecture on her pointless midterm and final and although you get a study guide before it, it didn't help me one bit because of it having so much information and her saying not to memorize things. If there's another professor teaching this course, take them as quick as you can, otherwise good luck.

Dr. J is very into busy work. She will make you print a lot of information. She seems nice, but can come across as fake and insecure. Do not get on her bad side, it will not be a pretty sight. This was an okay class. There are a lot of assignments, mainly busy work. If you're not going to be doing health promotion-related stuff in your workplace, then this class is not that helpful. There are tons of papers and a big group project (that can be interesting, but a lot of work) due. Dr. J, however is very very nice and extremely concerned about her students. She's a good teacher, I just am not going to be doing health promotion, so it seemed a little pointless. Just study her slides and handouts and memorize a lot of steps and you'll do fine.

I feel bad for all other kines students who have to take her. She does everything she does just to fulfill objectives, she doesn't care about the learning outcome of the student. Her classes are all basically the same outline and reuse so much information, if you want to call it that. These classes don't hardly apply to kines and she holds herself with self righteous bullshit above everyone and only knows to read off of slides for two hours straight. she admitted to our class she was having psychological issues because of her medication and tried to apologize. This class has very little to do with my career path and I'm sad my GPA had to drop so much from such a unnecessary and bland class. That's not to say she's a bad teacher, but she makes such an easy class into such an ordeal with busy work galore, so much waste of my time hearing and rehearing same thing over and over. If you have to take a class with her just make sure you try and be on top of the syllabus, even though she changes it without notice and expects you to only be enrolled in her class and none others. Tests are not very demonstrative of the class itself and its important to study the online quizzes before mids and the final.
