Her section for discussion groups seems to require a little more work than other proffessors, but the work prepares you really well for the tests and points are easy to get, you pretty much just have to put in a solid effort for a good grade.

It wasn't a difficult discussion period, but Hanretty's teaching style reminded me of a high school class. She gives opportunities for extra credit, and provided practice quiz's which don't affect your grade. Hanretty also doesn't provide study guides for the midterms and the final, I used a friend's that took Ryujin's discussion class. I don't highly recommend taking her, but it's easy enough to get through.

Hanretty is a chill 202 discussion leader. She's not particularly easy or hard. She's not particularly easy or hard. It kinda did seem like a high school class, as others have said, probably because of the way she spoke to us. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities available. If you write the LONG Paper, you can get A LOT more extra credit. For example, my friend got a C on the paper but because he wrote the longer paper he was able to get way more extra credit than me and a higher grade than me and we had the same test average. You can raise your grade 5 points for extra credit studies if you write the long paper.

Connie's class (only the discussion) was super easy but not terribly helpful. It very much reminded me of a high school class: we would get points for mindlessly copying peoples notes (the only homework assigned), and tons of extra credit was given out. Doing extra studies, giving a short speech, winning jeopardy, or answering practice quiz questions in class could give about a 7.5% grade boost. Super easy, super chill, but really the hour discussion was a complete waste of time (attendance is required).

I had her for my psych 202 discussion and she was cool. I can't say the discussion helped a ton in learning the content but she did give us a book with a bunch of practice problems which was nice. However, we did have to fill out a bunch of short response questions each week which was a little time consuming. I didn't mind it at the time but I have friends taking it this quarter and they said that they don't have to do that in their discussions.

Great professor to have as a discussion leader. Really helpful for preparing you for tests. Didn't enjoy her lectures as much but part of that could have just been the topic she had to do. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed Psych 202 with her

What a lady. She is very sweet and cares about her students. She also genuinely enjoys her job. She makes you fill out a workbook that is VERY helpful for the tests. She also provides extra credit opportunities that you should definitely take advantage of. Loved this class.

Hanretty was an amazing discussion leader. She was fun and relatable, and the hour I spent in her class each week went by fast. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities, but don't expect them to be fair--sometimes they're awarded on a first come first serve basis. All in all, I recommend taking her. She's really nice and understanding, plus if you do all the extra credit you can raise your grade by a full letter.

Such a sweet lady. She really wants her students to succeed. She makes a workbook to help her students with understanding the material. She's just so sweet. The class is pretty easy. She made scones for our entire class one time. She also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Take this class!

Connie is the bomb. Her discussion class is basically one giant extra credit opportunity. She is so fun and interesting and cares about her students. You get one excused absence, although since the class is only for one hour once a week you really don't need to take advantage of that. It consists of doing the psych workbook which is pretty easy and actually helps a lot when it comes to studying. You can earn extra credit from turning in the workbook for checks early, participating in a research study, presenting an article to the class, winning jeopardy, winning vocab, and more. It counts for 20% of your overall psych 202 grade so doing well in her discussion can majorly bump your grade up. Definitely take Connie for your discussion class, she is the best!

202 is a super weird class where you go to a GIANT lecture of like 500 people which is taught by a different professor every class. You also have a "discussion" class later in the week which is much smaller in which you can ask questions and you work with the material learned that week. I had Hanretty Church as my discussion leader and I LOVED her. She is so intelligent, understanding, and an incredible communicator. Would recommend her to anyone! She knows what she is doing and will help you all along the way. She also offers a lot of extra credit to help you with your grades, which was really helpful for me because I totally bombed the 2nd midterm (WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE...but that isn't Hanretty Church's test, that's for the giant lecture).

Professor Hanretty-Church is not only the nicest professor I've ever had but she's also a really great one. Yes, the way she sets up discussion can seem a bit juvenile, but it really helps being able to collaborate and discuss with others, she also makes you fill out the learning objectives which makes up for the majority of the midterms. She knows how to prepare students for the midterms and I would recommend taking her as a discussion professor.

Hanretty is such a great professor. You meet with her in a discussion once a week, and you go over so many things that will be on the test. She does make you do workbooks, but they are basically all of the learning objectives from the text. Even if you aren't in Hanretty's class, YOU SERIOUSLY SHOULD GET THIS NOTEBOOK!!! She also gives out tons of extra credit, and you play Jeopardy in the discussion before the midterm (which gives you a ton of potential test questions). You will be extremely prepared for all the exams if you have Hanretty.

She was very nice and understands much of psychology. Her part of the class was very easy and the work load was moderate. There were two specific things that annoyed me though. The first was that she had incorrect information when it came to one specific thing having to do with memory. I still got the question right on the test because on the online syllabus it had the correct answer, which was the more intuitive answer anyway. The other thing that annoyed me was that she never once changed the location of the daily double when we played jeopardy. By the end this led to whoever randomly got to go first would get double 500 points and won the game every time. This isn't a huge deal because jeopardy was only for extra credit, but still annoying. Overall, the class was enjoyable and the only hard part of psych are the exams.

I really enjoyed having Professor Hanretty for discussion. She was kinda confusing at times on what was expected from us but if you followed the syllabus you're good! She gave out tons of extra credit which definitely helped and had some super cool topics that helped us apply the material to our lives. I would highly recommend taking her discussion class!

Professor Hanretty was my group discussion leader. Great person, very helpful when asked for help. She required we fill out a work book for her discussion but she was very lax about it. She had us pass our book to our peers (when the book was due) and then your classmate just writes if you filled in all the required pages. Only issue with Hanretty is she tends to speed through lectures, especially when presenting a power point.

A lovely professor, she helps fill in missing gaps from the lectures or goes over key parts of exams that you wouldn't know to study for. She has a lot of experience and knows how the exams are done and is totally willing to help students.

Overall, I enjoyed PSY 202 with Connie. She offered a lot of extra credit which helped my grade a lot. For the class, there are 3 tests, workbook pages, a group presentation, and an essay. The tests were not cumulative but were increasingly challenging; what I found to be a big help was completing all workbook assignments before the due date. Doing this gave me extra credit and more knowledge about the material before the lecture. The group project was easy, my group was able to finish ours in one meeting with outside work by the researchers. Lastly, the essay was super cool too, you could pick your topic and it took me maybe 4 hrs to read the article and write a 3-4 page essay.

Hanretty is a great discussion course leader for the big Psych 202 lecture because she has you do workbooks. Probably more work than most of the other psych discussion professors but they're super effective for studying for the exams. They are basically just the learning objectives and they really help you to get the important information out of the textbook without doing all of the reading. The online psych syllabus is also super useful for filling out the workbook and finding the learning objectives so you barely even need the textbook.

Despite the fact that I am most likely going to receive an A in Connie's class, I highly recommend avoiding it. I want to start off by saying I was really excited to take the class and thought it was going to be interesting. Now I honestly dread going to class because most of the lecture is listening to Connie ramble on about her experiences working in the 80's. Most of the class feels highly irrelevant and a complete waste of my time. The class consists of daily reading quizzes, journal entries, 2 book reports, a midterm where you have to interview a professional, and the final is a 15-20 page paper in a group of 9 or 10 people which is ultimately a pain in the ass. The only redeeming thing about this class is that some of the guest speakers are interesting to listen to. I cannot wait until the last day of the quarter so I don't have to listen to Connie talk about her kids, her outdated work in the 80's, her music that she plays in the background of class, the annoying way she changes her voice, her patronizing attitude, and most importantly I no longer have to waste countless hours of my life.

Missed the first day, went to the second day. Went to the midterm. Went to the Final. Three days of class total. I got a B, easy. This kind of shit gives our school a bad name.
