For such a boring topic (Accounting), Matt really tried to keep his students interested in it. He makes jokes about himself all the time and its clear he just wants his students to like him and not fail his class. The class has 2 midterms, 3 quizzes (10 questions each), 10 homework assignments (done online and graded for completion not # you got right), and 1 cumulative final. His slides are from the book which help because you don't really have to read the book to do well on his tests/quizzes because he lectures on everything you need to know. He is quite oblivious to the fact that the homework gives the right answers if you just get it wrong enough times because each Wednesday he would go over the homework as if we didn't already know the answers. While that pretty much means you can go to class only on Mondays (it was a MW class) I went to every one and ended up with an A....so who knows maybe it helped. All in all I would retake this class with him in a heartbeat.

Soares is a homie! He probably got the funniest personality for an accountant. He teaches everything you need and as long as you read the reading assignments you will be set for one fun class. Plus he got that rich $$ swag that inspired me to concentrate on accounting! Best professor I've had so far.

Soares is an awesome professor. He wants to help his students succeed and makes accounting as fun as it can be with such dry material. He keeps the class interesting and really does love accounting. If you are thinking about concentrating in accounting definitely take him. If you are not concentrating in accounting but are required to take the course, still take him. For details about the class, read two comments below, that about sums up the course.

Matt Soares has been my favorite professor so far. I heard BUS 214 can be a pretty boring subject for some people but he does his best to make it interesting for everyone. His tests and quizzes are straight forward and he is really friendly and helpful in his office hours. I'd recommend him for any class and would encourage you to just go to class and take notes, if you do that you'll do fine.

Great teacher, explains the topic well and in an upbeat way. If you actually do the homework you should be set. He goes over the homework in class, so be sure to ask questions on what you don't understand. I did not do much of the homework and participated very little in class. Because of this I had a B- going into the final. The final ended up being harder than I expected, and because I did not put in enough time studying I ended up with a C+. However, I would definitely recommend this professor.
