I am a soon to be graduating senior and this is (unfortunately) my first time filling out a polyrating on a professor at Cal Poly. Since Eric doesn't have a polyrating yet, I thought it was important for people to know that this is the guy to take for IME 143 lab. If you don't know, he is a past Cal Poly graduate that is now in charge of Mustang 60. He relates really well to the students in the class and is fair with the coursework and the grading. There's two things in particular that I really like about him. 1) There are certain aspects of this class that are b.s. and he is fine with doing them in ways that are better. 2) He's clear about the areas where people make stupid mistakes and even if you still make the mistake, he doesn't shove it down your throat like other professors (Rainey for instance). Hopefully he keeps teaching the labs for this class because he is the best choice by far of what I've seen. I haven't interacted much with him in Mustang 60 but I'm sure he's just as approachable there if you need to go in with any questions on projects.

Awesome instructor, no bullshit. One somewhat annoying thing is that you can't leave until everybody is totally done cleaning up, which means you sometimes leave a few minutes after the class is supposed to end. Not a big deal and he usually lets people who have a class right after go on time. Fair grading, but not as much babysitting as the other IME series classes. If you mess something up, you will lose points for that mistake. Gives the option to write why you messed it up for a few points back.

This guy is a chill-ass dude. He knows his shit and is good at getting you to know your shit as well. He doesn't mess around with busy work like some professors do, which was awesome. I had never even seen a lathe in my life before taking this class, but I ended up falling in love with machining and even ended up getting a summer job in a machine shop after his class. Take him, he's a badass.

Pulse is pretty much everything a shop teacher should be. He did demos for everything and has the mentality that you should be thrown right into it, which is perfect for this kind of thing. He doesn't follow things in the lab notebook that are stupid because he knows how we should learn to use a lathe or mill. Sometimes he expects us to know things that are basic but many in the class still didn't know them (for example how to tap a hole). I definitely recommend taking Pulse. He's a really cool person too. And it's easy to get a good grade.A

Eric is very knowledgeable. He doesn't mess around but he's the perfect teacher for this lab. Great guy, I recommend his class.

Fun guy. Total machinist personality (straight forward and literal to a fault). Very helpful. Follow directions and ace with a few trinkets to take home.

Pulse did a good job making lab both instructive and practical. He takes the labs that are standard and teaches to those, but also adds his own flair to the delivery and content. Gives extra credit if you remind him to remove his ring before he starts working on any machines. Pulse graded fair, and there was little to no work that couldn't be accomplished in the lab time. Would recommend.

Eric is awesome. He is a great teacher and is very knowledgeable about the machinery you will use in the class. Not only does he know a lot about the material, but he is hilarious. Never a dull moment in class. Very chuckle. Much good times. Remind him to take off his ring to get extra credit (he will explain). Also, very fair grader and easy-going with late work. My favorite class of the quarter, fo sho.

only doing this bc he complained he rarely gets polyratings (SO HERE YOU GO BRO). this dude is a g. very chill guy. i have zero experience in the shops and Eric made this lab my favorite of the quarter. he clearly demos how to do shit and is always open to questions. one thing is when he's pissed he can be pretty asshole-y but he's really just mad bc you did some dumb shit so just don't do dumb shit and you're chilling

He thinks hes cool and he walks around like hes hung like a horse but his beard looks stupid as fuck and we all know he got a micro peen. tbh hes a good teacher tho and its an easy A but hes an asshole sometimes. thought Id share my negative review because his polyratings is too high he dont deserve no 3.9 wtf
