Mr. Hunt is such a sweetheart... Although he is not the best lecturer when it comes to presenting information clearly, he's enthusiastic, especially in his labs, and is devoted to helping the students learn. He may go on tangents once in a while and tell totally off-the-wall stories, but they're great. He does always have his goals for us in mind and is willing to help us out in any way. No matter what your experience level, you WILL learn something new about horses from this cowboy.

Mr. Hunt definately knows what hes talking about and I believe he tries very hard to get information across to students. Although, he favors students that have past experience with horses. And if you don't, its going to be extra hard for you to succeed in this class! If you don't understand something- go talk to him during his office hours. He LOVES WHEN STUDENTS GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. If you go in to take his tests uncertain about anything.. you will do poorly. He puts on a lot of trick questions that require you to fully comprehend the subject matter. This may be a piece of cake for any student who grew up with horses.. but if you're from the city like me, you're definately going to have to work extra hard to keep up! This will NOT be an easy A or B class for you.

Mr. Hunt is your average Ag teacher. I learned absolutly nothing new, only HIS WAY of doing things. He teaches his class so HIS WAY is the ONLY WAY, this was fine for my friend in the class who had zero horse experience. But for me who has been riding, and showing english for 12 years, not that his ways are wrong, but I've never hobbled a horse before, nor do I think I ever will. I tie my knots differently, I use an English leather halter, I thought it was ridiculous for me to have to learn his WESTERN ways.

Mr. Hunt is kind of a pain in the ass, but thats okay.. You can pass his class if you have experience of not. THE KEY to passing is to pay perfect attention to the BS that he gives you in class. Understand that it doesnt matter if a horse gets loose because there are two oceans to contain it, realise that you smell like mcdonalds and accept 'that is for sure' and youll be fine. Pay attention to his half baked lecture and memorize everything you learned and youll pass. You will learn a lot from his class reguardless of your experience level if you keep an open mind.! Make sure to ask questions so you'll learn what you want too.. the guy is like a horse encylopedia, and his classes will introduce you to a lot of interesting concepts in the horse world!

prof. hunt is a good guy, but he has his OWN LANGUAGE...if you don't understand what he is saying, chances are he no one else does either. he knows alot about horses, and if you pay attention and are patiend with him, then you'll do fine. you don't have to be a horse person to get an A, im the perfect example of that. quiz everytime in lab, and 4-5 tests in lecture(not difficult, just study the night before) i definelty learned from him.

Hunt doesn't present the material in an organized manner, so the test and quiz scores tend to be lower than expected. Unless you know all about horses, don't expect to get an A without studying. If you're not familiar with horses, good luck! He expects students to know about horses, so he doesn't explain the basics in the lectures. But he loves it when you go to his office hours, and he's completely willing to help you. He'll spend the whole hour explaining things to you if you need it. Lab participation is important, as is the lab grade, so don't ditch all the labs. Hunt is a sweet old man with a soft voice who's great with horses.

I will start off by saying that I have had slim to none experience with horses. However, Mr. Hunt assums that everyone has experience, making a beginning class much more difficult than it should be. Based on my grade, anyone could tell that I had a very hard time in this class, even though I studied my ass off. There is no serious homework, not that I can remember anyway. His test are hard (for a beginner) and consist of about 25 multiple choice questions and 20 matching. If anything, he's not a very fair grader. The classes are boring....extremely boring. But, it's funny to count the amount of times he says "That's for sure" in a class period. However, I will say that he is a nice guy and really cares about his students, he just can't teach worth a damn!!Best of luck to you if you are a beginner and have him.....!!

Mr. Hunt is quite an interesting character. To do well in his class you have to memorize everything he says and spit it back out at him in exactly his same words. Don't use your own words--he doesn't like them. I only had him for lab, but we had weekly quizzes. I got ahold of a friend's from the previous quarter--they were exactly the same. If you have past experience with horses, don't get cocky. If you are willing to learn and don't act like you know everything, you will get along with Hunt. To sum up his personality--OLD SCHOOL COWBOY.

Well, Hunt, He is a Natural Horseman. I have been working with horses for many years and went into the class thinking I would get an A. But I found that he was a natural horseman and had wacky ideas about horses. His tests are 20-30 points, so you miss 2 and you get a B. I found that what I know about horses was correct but not what he thinks, and in the end he wanted his point of view. If you have been with horses before, still pay attention because you WILL disagree with what he says but you will have to regurgitate what he thinks on the tests. Other then that he is a nice guy and will help you out in his office hours if you need anything.

I'm pretty bummed, I would've gotten an A in the class if Mr. Hunt hadn't given me a 74% in the lab. I don't understand why I got that. I went to every lab and did pretty well on the lab quizzes, and I always participated. Oh well. Mr. Hunt talks kind of slow and can go off on tangents sometimes, but he's really interesting and knowledgable.

Mr. Hunt is a different teacher - he talks very slowly, and makes it clear what is going to be on the quizzes, but unless you reguritate the answers exactly as he said them you might have a hard time with the quizzes. He is one of those teachers that is not very interested in what you think - what he says, goes. If you want to do well on the quizzes, just write what he says and you will get A's - just remember, he doesn't want to hear what you think is right, just what he thinks is right. If you can accept that, then you will probably get an A in the class. Nonetheless, I did find his class interesting and enjoyable most of the time. Just plan on spending the entire 3 hours in lab - you will never get out early.

I thought Mr. Hunt was a great instructor. I had the riding class with him. I am a begining rider and I learned alot from him. I have alot more confidence around horses because from this experience.

Mr. Hunt knows about horses, but I don't think he knows how to see the difference between a beginning riding class (presumably a FUN class) and a lecture/lab "serious" class. We sat around for the first week and a half of Beginning Western Riding while I know other sections were already in the saddle. He is a little overconcerned with safety it seems. (That's "good" but not very interesting) He tests you a lot on nit-picky little things (like if you don't tie a knot in exactly the same way he does or if you don't use exactly the same motion he would you don't pass the test) He also favours people who already know how to ride and lets them get the most experience, while he chastices you and doesn't let you try certain drills if you don't know. (Is it just me who thinks that is inconsistent with the whole concept of a BEGINNER'S course?) You will learn about horses' personalities and not very much about actual riding.

All that I can say is that this guy is an ass. He sexually harasses and favors all of his female students (I am one by the way). A lot of people that I talk to seem to like him; maybe we just had a personality conflict or something. I just felt that he was really fake and pompous. His "tests" were aweful, totally out of left field. He's really good with horses but not so good with students

I took this class thinking it would be a fun elective to have under my belt. I went into it as a beginner, knowing nothing about horses. I think Mr. Hunt is a nice man, and really good with the animals, but he also may care more about horses than he does his students. His quizzes are really hard, and he can be very stubborn. I did almost everything he asked, such as get up at 5 am to feed before class, but I ended up with a C. This is an elective... come on. Now I can fully consider this class a waste of my life. Dont take it unless you have a natural knack for riding, and LOVE horses, even being knee-deep in their feces.

I loved having Mr. Hunt as a teacher. I agree that he can go off on tangents, but he knows what he is doing. i feel that everyone in my class enjoyed it and he even did one-on-one with students that felt they needed it. I would suggest him to anyone.

I think Mr. Hunt is a great instructor and people who don't do good in his class it's their own fault. I mean he is a great teacher and describes things to detail.

Most students either hate or love Mr. Hunt. Halter Fitting is a perticipation class and if you dont come he knows even if he does not take roll. Every student that came to class and tried was highly respected but half that class never came. Your yearling could be an ass all quarter and you will still get an A if you try. Most people tend to not like Mr. Hunt because they do not understand him. Dont be afraid he is a genuinly nice guy!!
