Dr Iverson seems like a really nice guy and is super easy to talk to! Personally I really commend this guy for not getting upset or angry with students who ask condescending questions. In the beginning it was rough and really hard to understand his lectures, but he has been working on it and he is getting a lot better now that the quarter is almost over. Chemistry is just one of those courses that is hard therefore you have to study and work a lot on it. He grades really fair and curves everything. There is a lot of homework but it counts towards your grade and you'll need that so don't skip it.

This was Iverson's first quarter. He started off the quarter extremely unorganized, confused, and nervous. However, as the year progressed, he really took into student opinions/recommendations and formed into a decent professor. His lectures were not bad, however broad. He assigned homework, 10 for a total of 100 points, and 1 for 10 points extra credit. These are very difficult and take a great amount of time. I would advise buying a solutions book to guide you through them. Good news though, the homework questions were much harder than the quizzes and exams. Don't get me wrong, the quizzes and exams are by no means easy, but I thought they were fair and accurately covered the material that was presented. Be sure to understand the main topics well because each question is worth 25-30 points out of 150 point total exam, and if you don't know it, your screwed. So if you do the hw, study hard (read the chapters at least twice), and go to his office hours, there is no reason why you shouldn't get a good grade in this class. I honestly thought the lab was harder than the lecture. The class grading is as follows: 10% hw, 20% lab, 30% midterms (2), 15% quizzes (3), and the final 25%. On another note, this guy is sooo nice. In office hours he is helpful and seriously takes student concerns and troubles into consideration. Overall, I would recommend this class! It is moderately difficult, he's a nice guy, and it is not a dreadful class. Whether you are great at chemistry or terrible, if you put in the effort, you will get the desired result.

Dr. Iverson is a super nice guy, but not a great teacher. He's a very nervous lecturer and can be all over the place at times. Also, he ALWAYS makes errors when doing examples in lecture, which can make it difficult to learn the material. However, he is super nice in office hours and explains things a lot better in a less public setting. His tests and quizes were ridiculously easy compared to the homework questions, and he's very clear about what types of questions will be on the exams. He's new to teaching and I think he'll get a lot better after he uses this year to work out all the kinks.

Honestly, Professor Iverson is possibly the worst professor I've ever had. There were multiple times when he says and repeats himself "THIS WILL NOT BE ON THE TEST" and then sure enough on the test he has that exact topic which turns out to be like 10% of your grade on that test. He is absolutely terrible at clarifying anything during lecture. I understand everything about chemistry. I got a 5 on the AP test in high school, and I've never had an issue with learning everything. I'm not saying Iverson is a bad guy, he's just a FUCKING HORRIBLE TEACHER AVOID IVERSON AT ALL COSTS. He is a terrible lecturer, and his labs don't help you understand anything. They only made the class more confusing. His TA's taught a review session and it taught me more in an hour than he taught all quarter. Do not sign up for his class. Do not make the same mistake my advisor did for me by picking his class. I cannot get over how bad of a teacher he is. THE WORST.

Dr. Iverson is a second year teacher who is still learning the ropes as far as conveying material is concerned. It is often very hard to extract the crucial information from his somewhat scattered lectures. That being said, Dr. Iverson is an awesome individual who truly cares about student learning. Office hours are truly essential for success in this class. I went to office hours often, and for the most part, any questions that I had were immediately clarified. This class boils down to how much work you are willing to put in. Don't expect to cruise through this class.

Iverson is a great guy but I think he gets nervous speaking in front of the class. He sometimes needed to take a five minute break to clear his thoughts. When you go to office hours to see him one on one he is more comfortable and can explain the material better. I would say he is very disorganized and presents material poorly in lecture. His tests and quizzes were fairly easy for me but that is because I watched YouTube videos to learn the material. He has six quizzes but drops the worst score. He curves the class so the average is around the C+/B- range.

Do not take this class! You will not learn anything!

This class was very manageable. I hated chemistry before this course, but Dr. Iverson presents the material in a more understandable way. Although it is a difficult course in nature, his expectations are reasonable. There are a lot of labs but minimal homework. The midterms are fair but require a significant amount of studying. He is very helpful during office hours, though they are limited. As compared to my previous gen chem course, this is definitely easier, but you still learn the info.

Please, just don't. Unless you have the time to learn a majority of the material entirely on your own. He's a really nice guy, honestly, but this was a huge mistake.

Iverson is the man!!! He's the nicest guy and a great teacher! Really cares about his students. Unfortunately, he left to Claremont. Really gonna miss him!

Although he is a nice professor and knowledgeable about the subject, he is a terrible lecture professor. He does not present the material clearly at all and the only way i learned anything was when people would ask questions in lecture to try and clarify things since he was all over the map. This is the first class at poly where i feel like i have learned nothing from attending lecture. If you really want to learn anything, i would recommend staying away from this professor and taking another.

just don't do it. he is a great guy but really just doesn't know how to present the material clearly in lecture. on top of that the material is really difficult to learn on your own from the book. taking his class is a huge amount of unnecessary stress. if you do have to take him, GO TO OFFICE HOURS A LOT. thats the only way you'll learn

Dr. Iverson is awesome. He presents the material clearly, loves when students come to office hours, and he has no surprises on quizzes and tests. Whoever complains about him obviously must be taking him for a GE because he is very involved and excited about chemistry.

Iverson is a boss. Sharp, understanding, and reasonable. Very clearly outlines his lectures, and tests you on exactly what is covered on your homework. Its a shame he left to Claremont.

IVERSON IS A BOSS!!! Hands down the best professor I've had my entire time at Cal Poly. He always made the class simple and straight forward and was always available to answer questions to make sure you really understood the topic. Sadly he moved to Claremont, but I consider myself lucky to have gotten the opportunity to have had him as a professor.

Cameron Iverson is NOT a doctor. Therefore you do NOT call him "Dr. Iverson"... That always bothered me when students did so... Anyways, Cameron is condescending and seems easily frustrated by questions or misinterpretations or anything. He is a tough grader and gives tough lab quizzes (I really have no recommendation for earning a good score on the quizzes) BUT he curves the grades so all are fairly happy and can pass the lecture as well. Goodluck

Mr. Iverson is so awesome. Have him for lab currently. he's super chill and laid back, great teacher and explains things very well. He makes Ochem lab not seem so frightening or serious. Love him!

Doc Iverson is the best Lab professor I have had at Cal Poly. I had him for 316 lab and liked him enough to take him again for 317. He is very chill in lab and explains the prelab lecture really well so the lab period goes by efficiently, and you actually know what you are doing! Whenever you have trouble with something all you have to do is go to office hours or shoot him an email (which I do constantly). He is super friendly and has a good sense of humor. Since he is so approachable it will make the lab reports a lot easier to handle and you become more comfortable with the material. He is pretty young so he is really funny and great to talk to. He has a lot on his plate dealing with all the general chem-ers (who are totally biased in their polyrating evaluations because of their frustration in chemistry, probably from poor study habits!) but he always makes time for the students and to make your life easier. Organic is hard, but Iverson actually makes you understand the material and feel better about it. TAKE HIM! BEST LAB PROFESSOR!

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.
