Ah, the infamous AERO 300. This class consumed my life for 10 weeks. I lost 10 F***** POUNDS that quarter. Go into the class with no MATLAB/programming experience like me, and be prepared to spend every weekend partying in the library. By the time you finish linear algebra in this course (1st 3 weeks), you're barely learning how to add matrices in MATH244. Course covers Linear in 3 weeks, DiffEq in 2 weeks, Calc4 in 1 week, PDE's in 2 weeks, FourierSrs in 1 week, and the last week is dumb. Dr. Yoon's lecture is straightforward... Come in to class for 50 minutes 4 times a week, write down what he writes on the board for 52 minutes and learn it on your own. Due to the course load he needs to cover, he has NO time to explain it/ go into detail. His example problems/hwk problems are VERY SIMILAR TO exam problems (except for 1 gnarly problem that rapes everyone in the face). Office hours are your friend. Don't know how else to rate this professor. We literally spent all of lecture writing notes for 9 straight weeks, and he barely finished presenting the material. It was his first time teaching the course, so if he does teach it next quarter, he might become more efficient. One thing is, he loves to talk to the board. This class is hard and I get the vibe that Yoon genuinely wants to help you pass the class, he even helps debug your code line for line if you catch him in lab hours. GRADE DISTRIBUTION: 15% HWK 25%LAB 25%MIDTERM 35% FINAL. MATLAB WILL CONSUME YOUR LIFE!

Yoon genuinely tries to cram all the material within the given time, without acknowledging student's difficulties. The whole time in lecture you will be copying down the notes he writes on the board and trying to understand him while he is speaking toward the board. Besides that, the lab was not too bad. Side note: Go to the Aero 300 Review sessions the weekend before the midterms. Those review sessions really help.

Yes Aero 300 is just a really hard class, but even more so with this professor. His lecture was basically identical to the book so I spent hours reading it attempting to understand. His midterms weren't as hard as I expected but there was not study guide to speak of. He pretty much said read every chapter/section we'd covered(A LOT OF MATERIAL). Went to office hours twice both times he couldn't help me and just repeated the basics of the problem that I already understood. Nice guy, but not a good teacher.
