Dr. Higgins is truly one of the most dedicated professors I have ever had. In addition, she presents the material very clearly, and at the right pace. She knows what parts of the class are tricky and slows it down while recognizing when students are struggling. For a 7am class I never understood how she had so much energy but she definitely does everything she can to keep you awake. Go to class, because if you don't do the in class assignments it will kill your grade, if you do do them they are easy points that will make sure you pass.

Higgins is a good teacher. Yeah she is young and new, but she really knows her stuff. This class is not going to be an easy A, but you definately will learn alot. I think she is the most dedicated and best marketing teacher at poly hands down. She invests time in the class, she is there to help you and will go out of her way to, you just gotta ask!

Good professor. Time consuming class though, gotta go to class and participate and do all the homework. Not an easy A but still very interesting class!

Higgins is by far the most dedicated professor. She tries above and beyond to meet the needs of her students. Go to class (easy participation points). Weekly online quizzes. Textbook needed and is a terrible text. Knows her material extremely well. Tough class needs time dedication for review and studying but if you put in the work easily passable. Extremely approachable and friendly person. NON-PRINTER FRIENDLY LECTURES. Full of pictures and contain close to 30-40 slides but take good notes.

Loved her!! Sweetest professor I have had at Cal Poly so far. She gives just about 40 points of extra credit throughout the quarter so it makes up for the tests. The lectures get a little bland at times but if you go to class you get points for being there. The tests are hard but if you study the study guide you should be fine. She is very fair and I would take her again if I could!

Higgins is awful. Her Classes are long and boring and her grading is very harsh. She pretends to be a nice teacher but in reality she is awful and so mean.

I tried so hard to like Professor Higgins because she is in fact, nice and willing to talk to you, however by the end of the class I realized that Professor Higgins is a horrible human being. Her teaching methods are very poor, she acts like a know it all, has very boring lectures, and her tests are simply too hard to get the grade you want no matter how much time you study, I studied 25+ hours for a midterm and got a 58% on it, and still have no idea why I received this grade. All in all, Higgins is a very shitty person and teacher do not take her.

Higgins is the worst teacher i've ever had in my three years at Poly. She is extremely vague on just about everything she says, her grading is harsh and biased, she is a sexist and always gives girls an easier time. My friend and I (who is a girl) compared one of our essay questions and we both agreed mine was a more accurate answer yet i got a 4/10 on mine and she got a 7/10 on hers. I also found her to be short and vague in her office hours. Higgins expects perfection from her students, which is fine but she is far from a perfect teacher. She is also a very bad public speaker. Pretty nice lady, but bad teacher.

Dr. Higgins is a very sweet person and one of my favorite people in the department. I'm surprised at the negative reviews on here. Sometimes she's a little vague regarding what she wants you to know for a test, but that may have changed considering I had her three years ago. 301 is one of the first upper division classes that people take, and there is a big difference between all of the upper divisions (except maybe 401) and the lower divisions. Just show up to class, study the powerpoints, and go into office hours if you're struggling. I didn't even do that well in it but that was my own fault for not putting much effort into it. Despite getting a C back then, I'll gladly defend Dr. Higgins on here.

Just because Professor Higgins is passionate about Marketing does not make her a good teacher. Just because Professor Higgins is nice on the outside does not make her a nice person. Higgins does not present course material clearly and is even worse at recognizing students difficulties. Overall, Higgins is someone who wanted to be in marketing but failed and chose to teach, SHITTY TEACHER

Great teacher, very nice, very considerate. The only thing with this class is that the tests are abnormally and unnecessarily difficult. Marketing isn't that difficult, but her tests were ridiculous. Class is also very conceptual rather than teaching how to properly market a food product. Class in general is kinda stupid lol. nice teacher though very understanding.

Higgins is very nice, but not the best teacher. She's very vague and nonchalant with her lectures but somehow expects you to be able to do much more detailed and difficult work on projects and assignments. To make it worse, her grading is brutal. I will say that she gives good, detailed feedback and really takes time to grade assignments. However, it seemed like most of the time you are marked down on material she never taught in the first place... All in all, a nice lady, boring/ vague lecturer, harsh grader 3 exams, various in-class assignments, homework, and labs One major final presentation and final research report (which you work on throughout the entire quarter)

Higgins is awful. She is a brand new teacher and nice but VERY VAGUE ON EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. There are labs every week that take forever and are supposed to help you on your final presentation but once the end of the quarter hits every is changing everything about their labs. Her grading is very harsh especially on presentations. There are two presentations, one easy wine article and one huge presentation where you make up your own winery or develop an existing one. DO NOT MAKE UP ONE. She gives no help to those who are creating a winery and she will give you a shitty grade because of it. Classes are long and boring, just making it through them is worth an A in itself. Drinking in class helps, but the class is still a nightmare. She isn't the best public speaker but expects you to be perfect. Please reconsider taking her unless you want to learn nothing and have a horrible end of the quarter.

Higgins was great! Not only was she extremely CLEAR about her expectations in all of the required assignments, she is a young and enthusiastic professor! I'm not sure who the other person is who wrote a review, but clearly if you would spend half as much time as you did writing your pathetic review complaining about a professor who was challenging her students to be more than mediocre; maybe you would have been more successful in this class. I also might recommend you consider choosing a new career path if you are only capable of a C in a 400 level required major course. Not only does Higgins spell out her expectations in her lectures and on the course website, she also makes a point to highlight them in multiple lectures throughout the quarter. I didn't find her to be boring at all, and while she may have high expectations of her students, it is nice to have a class that is actually preparing you for the real world. This is not an easy A class, but let's get real it's a 400 level class and she expects you to perform at that level. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I don't know who the person below me is, most likely higgins herself or someone that doesn't have a life and probably spent every day in her office, but this is one TERRIBLE professor. The entire class revolves around creating a marketing plan for a wine brand. She has absolutely no experience in viticulture, but acts like she knows everything. I will say that she was accomodating with her office hours, but what kind of teacher are you if your students have to go to your office every time you give them an assignment? So glad this is over, worst decision of my life. Check ya later Higgins

Dr. Higgins is a great professor! She is very passionate about what she teaches and does a good job of explaining the subject matter! She is sweet and very easy to talk to! You are pretty much doing group work throughout the whole quarter and the labs were extremely easy. I don't understand why some are giving her bad reviews, I thought she taught well and always has her door open and she is also always willing to help. Get over it if you didn't get a good grade, it was most likely your fault, you probably were one of the students never went to class. How can you say she is a "HORRIBLE" professor when there are jerks like Slezak out there! I mean, how long have you been at Cal Poly? Dr. Higgins is far from horrible and you won't regret taking her class! The midterm and final were very easy and nothing was unexpected. This class is a lot of work, but the bottom line is that Dr. Higgins is a great professor and if you work pay attention, work hard and ask questions, you will certainly do well in the course.

Higgins stop commenting on your own poly ratings that's illegal there's no way someone believes she's a great teacher. Had no idea what was going on all quarter but studied my ass off for an A. Don't take her.

This class was a time consuming class. If you are not interested in learning how to develop a full blown marketing plan on a winery of your choice then dont take the class. For all those who are giving horrible raitings, thats sad. Just because she is a new teacher, does not mean she is "horrible". She is very passionate about marketing. You just HAVE to go to her office hours if you want to fully understand the assignments and learn as most you can. I would take her again.

Tough class. If you are not actively paying attention and taking notes in class, and do not go to office hours for clarification this class is very, very difficult. Dr. Higgins is a young, cool professor, she just won't hand out grades. All of her tests are 6 essay questions, and you get to choose 5 to write about. Not a fan of that testing style.

This class was absolutely amazing. Dr. Higgins expects the best out of her students, but will be there when you need help every step of the way. She knows her marketing and I highly recommend this class to everyone.
