Ahhh Damen Ho. I really didn't enjoy this class with him. I wouldn't take him again, if I had the choice. He spent the hour class periods going over one simple problem. you think you get it, and then he sends you home to a bunch of homework problems that are significantly more difficult than the problems he does. And sometimes he messes up the problems in class! He doesn't really prepare for classes or labs. The labs are very unhelpful and pretty much pointless. He has pop quizzes occasionally. He grades homework every class period, and it takes a couple hours each night, and he grades really unfairly. Even though you get the right answer or if you showed an intense amount of work he won't give you full credit. He doesn't help if you ask her questions in class, he doesn't help if you go to office hours. he's one of those professors that asks you what YOU think the problem is when you're the one who asked the question to begin with. I figured he knows his material. He just doesn't present it well. He hasn't been teaching the class very long, he's straight out of cal poly, and i really wouldn't suggest taking him.

I think that Damen presented the material very well. The tests were not extrememly hard, they followed the lectres and the assigned homework very well. As long as you actually did the homework and looked over it before a test, you should not be surprised at what shows up on the midterms/final. Overall he was very approachable and helpful if a student did not understand, and was always willing to help in office hours. I would recommend him to anyone looking to have a professor who is helpful and gives tests that are straight forward... either you know it or you don't.

This guy is a great teacher. Take him, if you have the chance. He is young and easy to get a long with. He really encourages people to come to his office hours and ask for help. He is helpful as long as you know what you are doing, so be prepared when you ask him questions. Sometimes he made me feel really dumb trying to get help. He knows his stuff really well, and it makes perfect sence in lecture. But homework is another story. He assigns a few problems every class, due the next class. There are occational quizzes, two midterms, and a hard final. His grading policy is not always by the book. If you show improvement and finally understand the stuff by the final, you can still pass. For this class I suggest that you do all the homework, go into office hours regularlly, and hope for the best.

Be prepared to fail this class. I know many people who had to repeat it, including myself. Damon was the only teacher available this quarter for ARCE 221, so I had to take his class again. He definitely knows what he's doing, but his ability to convey his knowledge isn't fully developed yet. One of the biggest complaints my friends and I had was the fact that he doesn't fully complete problems that he'll start in class. Just "getting us started" on something wasn't enough to help us understand the entire concept. The grading policy was shaky this quarter; our entire class struggled on the midterms, so "student progress and improvement" was taken into consideration at the time of the final. Homework is assigned every day, and it takes a lot of time. My friends who took this class with other professors were assigned homework once a week. There are pop quizzes, although not too many. Damon is willing to help his students in office hours, but the class is still insanely difficult- especially if you don't do well on tests.

Damon is a professor that grades fairly. Even though i got a C in the class, i felt like i left this class with a lot known. He taught the class sometimes on the goofy side, but other than that, i feel that he is a good teacher. He collects homework every day, but i think its a way to keep you on track. i suggest him for ARCE 221. =)

Ho is a great guy and really cares about his students. He is readily available to help and really goes out of his way. However, he has trouble preparing you for the super-hard exams he gives you. Basically multiply anything in class by 5 and there is the midterm to that point. Be prepared for rapage. Otherwise, I liked the class...

Ho is great. He's a fair grader and understand students difficulty. There's homework every day, it'll probably take an hour or so to complete them if you understand the material. the midterms are really similar to homework problems, each midterm is an hour long and the final is like two midterms combine. Ho does a good job in explainin the materials. You could probably pass the class with out reading the book, but i suggest reading it. He have review sessions for all his midterms and final, i think they'll help although i havent been to any of them. I highly recommend him!

Damon Ho is THE worst teacher at Cal Poly. He lacks all together the capability to understand or even listen to his students. The material on his tests is not too difficult, however, he does not give you enought time to finish. Now, this would be understandable on the first midterm. But he continued to do this on the second midterm and the final. He is very arrogant and has a certain prejudice against those who are not ARCE majors. I hoped that because he was a new teacher he would bring new and exciting material to the class, but he failed to do this. His lectures often consisted of a single problem he would work out the whole time and not even finish (and then he expects us to do three times as much in the same time limit). I highly recommend that everyone avoid Ho as much as possible!!!!!!!

I thought Damen was an exceptional professor. This was my second time taking the class so the material was a little more self-explanatory or review. His homework is very manageable and never overwhelming. He explains most subjects thoroughly (sometimes too slowly and thoroughly)and attends to the needs of his students. Quizes are simple and test are upfront, never misleading; just as long you do practice problems. Overall I thought he was good teacher and I would not hestitate to take him again.

Damon has adapted very well as a lecturer in the ARCE program. I have had class with Damon during both of the quarters he has been here. Damon has become an excellent lecturer. He presents his material in a fashion which is easily understood. Myself and my classmates have thoroughly mastered the material Damon has presented to us in the past two quarters. I highly recommend Damon as a lecturer, you will leave his class with a thorough knowledge of the subjects he teaches.

I am very impressed with the progress that Damon has made over the course of the last two quarters. While, I would not reach to the extremes that the first evaluator did, I would agree that initially, Damon experienced some trouble with the clarity of his lectures and his overall organizational skills. However, he has never been closed minded to suggestions regarding his teaching styles, and will always pause a lecture in order to assure that certain points are driven home. If at any point you do become lost, it is simply a matter of voicing your confusion, and Damon will make sure that you understand before the lecture continues. In addition, he makes himself very available in office hours, and is an all around approachable and likable guy.

Before i walked into this class, i considered myself computer illiterate. Damon has not only taught me what i needed to know to go on to the next series, but he also proved to me that anyone can learn the different programs in computers, apply it to our major, and enjoy it. A lab report is usually due once every week. He is very clear in his lectures; if you have a question, feel free to ask; he is a very approachable guy. I would definitely take him again!!

ARCE 351 with Damen was easy, he handed us easy labs, but at the same time, really taught us Excel very well. I now have a good knowledge of Excel, even though the labs he assigned were straightforward. Damen knows the subject well, and understood my questions. I would take him again for another course if I could.
