Sanchez is a good guy. His teaching is so-so. I have taken a bunch of spanish before this class hence why I did fine. But, for a lot of other students who had not taken spanish before they his teaching is not very helpful you really go to ask him to clarify stuff and be willing to study on your own. Other than that would recommend him.

Professor Sanchez is very reasonable. Just make sure you know when the online homework is due...he doesn't tell you until it is too late! A lot of students complained in this class simply because they were actually learning (OMG!). He is a really good teacher who means well. Sure his english is a little hard to understand at times, but he is trying hus best. Give him a break.

Profesor Sanchez is a very engaged and thoughtful professor who really cares about his students and wants them to succeed and learn as much spanish as is possible in just one quarter. This was the only class this quarter that I attended every day simply because I liked the professor and the way he taught the subject. He also brings current events and rock references into the class for when we read articles in spanish, and that made me so much more interested in the material.

I loved Sanchez so much he's been my favorite professor so far. The class was the easiest A and there was little to no work. I miss this guy immensely, and will probably take another class he teaches just to get him again. He's straight from Mexico so he knows his shit! love him forever

NICEST HUMAN EVER. Fernando is such a nice guy- he’s funny, likes joking around with the class, and grades generously. He was always so happy to help me and answer any questions. For his class, you have to do online activities through MySpanishLab, and mine wasn’t working. He was so chill about it and totally trusted me to have been trying. I also actually feel like I got better at Spanish because of this course. He was a great professor!

If you are looking for a pretty chill class that does not demand much from you then this class is perfect. The midterm and final are taken online and there really isn't much homework. If you are trying to actually learn though then is definitely not the class to take.

if you are looking for an easy A, take this class. If you are actually wanting to improve on your Spanish, I suggest getting another teacher. Really sweet and understanding man, but he taught barely anything and spoke in English for most of the class which is super frustrating because we are all at the level of Spanish where we could understand him if he spoke Spanish and we all want to actually improve on our Spanish. But it was the easiest A I've gotten at Cal Poly

LOVE PROF SANCHEZ!! Such a good guy and class was super easy. Midterm and final were online, one video project about yourself at the end of the year (everyone got A's if you semi tried), minimal homework, class time was fun and we always got out early. He teaches Spanish in a more communicative way with watching videos etc instead of just doing pointless worksheets during class. Take him he was by far the best Spanish teacher I have had in college. Class was cancelled a decent amount of times too.

I haven't written a professor evaluation before but definitely feel Sanchez deserves one. He is easily the best spanish teacher I have had for any class in high school or in college. He really understood student difficulties and made an effort to make everyone feel included. His assignments and grading were extremely fair, and were very appropriate for a 200 level class. I would take him again for any of my future spanish classes here at cal poly

While I understand that Professor Sánchez is new to Cal Poly and is probably still adjusting to the differences, he never demanded my respect as a professor. The first day of class, he was 15 minutes late and almost every class for the remainder of the quarter he was late. The class consisted of 2 tests (a midterm and a final, both written), 3 2-page essays, 1 4-page final essay (a summary of the course themes), a "presentation" on what we learned in the class, and weekly blog posts. I found the class to be extremely irrelevant to the topic (Mexican Literature). We spent most of the time learning about the history of Mexico and looking at art. His in-class assignments didn't really pertain to what we were learning and were often confusing. Professor Sánchez is also very unclear with what he expects and in helping us review. During the review for the first midterm, he kept getting frustrated with the class because we would ask questions as clarification to the study guide because we had no idea what the study guide questions were about. Professor Sánchez was a nice guy and tried to be funny in class. Overall, I think with time he can be a better professor, but I was very unimpressed with this class and felt like it was a waste of my time because I didn't learn anything.

I really like Sanchez. You might not learn as much, but the class is really easy (Note that I'm a native speaker of Spanish). Take him, you won't regret it.

Sanchez is awesome. Span 307, with Sanchez, was probably the easiest class that I have ever taken (and that includes HS classes). One 3-4 page essay (3-4 hours), one 6-8 page easy (like 7 hours to do), 10 blog entries (easy)(max 10 hours), and one easy midterm (studied 2 hours): That's it!. You could easily get an A in this class by putting 22 hours of your time during the entire quater! This is a film class, so you get to watch a lot of movies (most of the movies are horrible (story-wise) though). I am a native speaker, so it was easier for me. Take him! He is Awesome!

This was the first professor I had that actually had his mind turned on at Cal Poly. An extremely deep and personable character who actually felt for his students. Thank you Fernando Sanchez, and I'll see you soon

Sanchez is one of the best teachers I've had at Poly! Being a Spanish speaker, I could immediately tell he knew what he was talking about. He's very good at understanding student difficulties and is always in a friendly mood. The class is very straight forward, and he actually wants you to learn. He cares about how you're doing and what you're struggling with. His Spanish is also very clean; it's great for people learning Spanish! Take his class!
