Professor Mogull is an awesome teacher! He's always available to help, and is in the tutoring center almost everyday. He's easy to talk to and is truly trying to make you a successful student. You have two midterms and a final, (no quizzes). He doesn't try to trick you on tests, he's very straight forward, and his notes directly relate to the homework. Homework load isn't bad at all! You have one homework assignment a week. I would definitely recommend him!!

I have no complaints, while I found the class frustrating, it wasn't due at all to Mr. Mogull, it was my lack of initiative. He presents the info clearly, doesn't load you with homework, and tries his best to help you succeed outside of class at tutoring. He's a nice guy in general as well, I'd definitely recommend him.

He asked our class one morning, "Who would take me if I was teaching Calc 2 next quarter?" Before he even got to finish his sentence, every arm in the room went flying in the air. Great professor who is very clear in lecture, dynamic even at 8AM in the morning, and provides excellent notes. Two midterms and a final, all which can be somewhat difficult but very fair; he truly wants everyone to do well so he'll walk you through everything prior to the tests. Homework (20% of your grade) can get extensive, but you get an entire week to finish an assignment. Overall, 4.0/4.0. I wish I could take a professor like him for all my classes.

I enrolled for Mogull's class because of the unusually high rating he had. After taking his class, I have developed the pro's and con's for this class. To start with the pro's, Mogull does an effective job conveying new material. Calc 3 is a hard subject with plenty of new materials. That being said, the con's to this professor is his grading policies. The midterms usually ranged from 30-38 points total, meaning there were usually around 7 questions usually 4-5 points each. The problem with this grading method is that Mogull marks off points for each mistake he sees on that problem. For example, Taylor series usually has around 5-6 parts to the problem (therefore worth 5 points on that problem). However, if you were to have an arithmetic error or you didn't put +C at the end you could be docked off 1 point, because he doesn't give out partial credit. So, for that specific problem you could end up getting 3/5 points even though you had the right work and right answer. That is why I believe Mogull's grading policy is flawed. On the bright side, he is a genuinely nice person and solid teacher.

Mogull is so good. Totally recommend him. Super nice and throws in bits of humor with it. I love him. My ideal teacher. Calc III is very difficult and he made it not so bad. HW is worth 20% of the grade, which is a bit much IMO, but that's his policy. Surprised I didn't get an A- but B+ is fine too. 2 midterms and 1 final. He doesn't put any tricky questions on the exams- just questions that make you show that you know the general idea. Super great guy and even better teacher!

Haha Mogull. He says "as n goes from zero to infinity" really funny, and he says it like 100 times, it's great. But in all seriousness, Mogull's a good teacher, but you can't really count on him to carry your weight, you have to do the homework and also just know you stuff when you come into class. It's easy to fall behind in any Math class. His midterms were fair, and he collects homework by the week which I always like. He's so easy going when it comes to office hours. if your stuck between mogull and another mediocre teacher, you'll have fun with mogull, theres a sense of humor about him.

He is a great professor and does a great job making sure his students get the fairly difficult material. I loved this class and he made the math interesting. The only problem with him is that he isn't a very interesting guy, he is often monotone and uninterested.

Mike is very not only extremely comfortable and knowledgeable on the subject, he is a great teacher. Somehow I learned more about calculus and how to use it in real life, yet the class did not seem unnecessarily difficult. If you go to class, do the weekly homework, and try, you will do great.

I don't like math, but I actually really enjoyed going to this class. This is an excellent teacher...he presents the material very clearly and shows all his work...he recognizes difficulties students may face with certain topics and it makes it easier to learn. He's the perfect teacher in my opinion.

Finally a good professor at Cal Poly! If you aren't a complete idiot at math this class is easy. Show up to class every day and you'll be fine. The tests are fair and are very similar to the questions he uses as examples in class. The tests were always easier than expected. He curved the 2nd midterm and final, we also got an additional 5% added to our final for completing the poly reviews, and we almost got 3% added to our second midterm if more kids would've taken the course eval. He's a chiller.

I think Mogull is a fantastic professor. He tries really hard to get the students involved, but it is not his fault that most of the students taking this course are not statistics majors, so most everyone is dull in this class. His slides are beautifully organized and I feel like I could easily find the help I need easily on PolyLearn. He has lecture slides with examples and explanations for each topic. They are all very easy to find. He is very helpful during office hours. I can tell he has a passion for stats and he is willing to be very patient with students so that they can understand the material well. His exams cover everything without any major surprises. His grading is completely reasonable and I think anyone can be successful in this class with a bit of work.

Professor Mogull was a very clear statistics professor as to what he wanted from the class. The class consists of homework which is graded by a grader, 2 midterms, and a final. A tip for the homework is that the grader can often times be harsh, but if you go to him and explain your logic, you will often time get those points back. Mogull presents his notes all in slideshows and talks you through it. Sometimes it would be nice to see the notes on the board, however if you have any questions he answers them on the board. I also wish he gave out practice tests before each exam. Overall, if you study for each exam and go through all your notes and concepts you will do well in the class.

Professor Mogull, is not very passionate he seems super angry all the time, and goes through his slides pretty quickly. His follow along chapter pages don’t have answers to them on polylearn so if u couldn’t go to a class you are pretty much fucked. Also my class asked for a study guide but he said he doesn’t believe in study guides, which is pretty fucked up considering Statistics is probably the least major or minor course chosen at Calpoly. It’s a difficult class unless you put your mind to work the entire fucking week.

Too. Much. Homework. Currently writing this review as I'm struggling through homework that is taking on the verge of 3 hours for one assignment. The material isn't hard, he just assigns too much freaking homework. He also says that at the beginning of the year he doesn't assign that much homework, well spoiler! He does. The homework isn't hard, just super repetitive to the point where you go insane (like me right now). Besides that easy straightforward class, I'd take him again, but he needs to cut down the homework.

Do yourself a favor and take Mogull for this class. Print out the lecture notes and write down what he writes on the board. All the quiz and exam questions are very similar to problems done in the notes (no surprises on the exams). So if you study the notes, you should have no problem doing well on the quizzes/exams. He also lets you have a cheat sheet for the exam; aka write as much as you can on the cheat sheet. If you do this, then this stat class should be a relatively laid-back class. The only thing irritating is the copious amount of homework that is due each week--and none of it is very relevant for the quizzes or exams. But if you get started on the hw in advance (unlike me), then you should be fine. He's also a pretty nice guy and is understanding of student struggles.

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!
