For taking this class in the fall quarter, she looked like a really hard professor in the beginning and she claimed she graded hard but then she didn't at all. In the beginning of the class i did not want to be in there. In the quarter she was really disorganized and at the end of the quarter we got hit with like 4 different essays to do and she wasn't organized. And then just remember to keep up with the readings and do all of the essays. At the end of the quarter you have a exit essay so be ready to write a really good essay in the matter of 50 minutes. But in the middle of the class when she knew that we were bored out of our mind, she would crack a joke she would be like " i know all of you don't give a rats ass for being in this class but then you have to take it" and then she just really made us laugh. But then whole class was really good she said and we were one of her best classes ever. So then if you have to take her for 102 take her - she is great and she really helped me with my writing. The really good thing about her is get on her good side because she grades really fairly, i feel sorry for the people who had to have her for engl 114 during the fall quarter because all i hear are nightmares. But overall this teacher is really good and she cares about her students and wants to see them improve in the end, i can actually say that my writing improved a lot because of her. Also her conference appointments really help and she cares about the student and how they are writing.

Great teacher if you aren't very good in english to begin with. Goes over essay writing like hell. There are 4 essays to write throughout the whole quarter. That's basically your grade right there. Quizzes are extremely easy if you read the material. If you really need to improve in your writing, you've come to the right professor. Clear with what she expects. Clear with her lectures.

This teacher is extremely difficult. She is very unfair and stubborn. If you are looking to earn a good grade DO NOT take this course. She only gave out one A out of all her classes, and even bragged about making more than 2/3's of her students drop out of her class. The quizzes are easy, and there are very few essays, but in the end no matter how hard you work you will not be rewarded. This teacher is simply a "Bitch with a Masters".

Mrs. Henry is not what I thought a College English Professor would be. She has her way of doing things, and if they aren't done exactly that way you can expect a D. I have never been so happy in my life to get a C back on an essay. She assigns 4 or 5 essays over the quarter, and she grades them severly. Personally I don't think taking her course made me a better write, but it did the complete opposite. I found myself writing in a style that was not helping me improve my own capabilities. She didn't give me any advice on how to improve my style, but she was quick to tear every paper I turned in to pieces. She is very stubborn, and boasts that she only gives out one A per quarter, so don't expect one. I was a good writer in High School, but she seems to have her own feeling on the subject. Whatever you do, don't get on her bad side at the beginning of the quarter, your grade will reflect it. Take my advice and take another teacher if possible, and if you have to take her, drop it and take it over summer term at a JC. Good Luck getting another teacher.

This is another teacher who does not teach here any more--why are her evaluations here? (What would the polyratings stats look like if they removed the ratings of the teachers who don't teach here any more?)
