Go to blog.ratemyprofessors.com and look her up... it basically explains everything. She clearly does not have a well rounded knowledge of the equine profession. She is oblivious to basically everything. Example: During foaling season, she did not know most of the TB mares had caslicks procedure done... She thinks she knows everything and it is futile to try and tell her different. She is VERY opinionated and most of what she thinks is not valid at all. Her favorite phrase this quarter has been "I don't know how to do that". I would advise not taking her for any riding classes. She is not a very good rider and doesn't have strong horsemanship skills. You do however, want to get on her good side, she is the manager after all.. If you can avoid her, it is best to do so. She is very under-qualified to be the manager of the horse unit. She does like to talk...alot about what she think she knows.

Sally was a substitute teacher two days during my 344 riding class. She knows nothing about horses and doesn't understand the concept that some horses have a different training style than others. She sits there and yells at you for not listening, when it's impossible for you to do what she's saying. Plus, she says that you're doing things wrong, but won't tell you what to do, to fix it. She had no business subbing for this class and I honestly think my riding suffered those two days. As manager of the horse unit, she is terrible. She doesn't care about the horses or the boarders. Her lack of knowledge is terrifying and I worry about the horses up there; mainly those belonging to friends and the dressage and equestrian teams. I am astounded that cal poly would hire someone so deficient, incompetent and just plain hard to deal with. She's disorganized, impossible to get a hold of and generally hard to talk to. She ignores obvious problems like lack of feed and horses being cast in front of her and pretends to know what she's talking about. She lacks an important affinity for horses and is completely under qualified to manage the horse unit.

Sally is a new professor to the animal science department and is the head of the equine unit. I have her for the foaling enterprise and honestly she knows nothing. I think that she was given way more responsibility than she is qualified for and I think that there are other teachers that are way more qualified to be in charge of the equine unit. She herself claims to have experience but constantly asks the foaling enterprise manager questions even I know answers to (and i have never been involved in any way in foaling a horse or breeding or even owning before this enterprise). She is very distant and although she will attempt to answer questions she does not do so well. I honestly think that the equine unit is in jeopardy with her in charge because she is making some bad calls that even someone with a lot less horse experience recognizes. Also, on another note she also teaches some riding classes...but she cant ride to save her life she is awakrd on a horse and has no confidence. In addition she doesnt care about the horses (she has said so herself) and I think shes just in it for the money she could care less about the individual horses. I think Cal Poly made a huge mistake hiring this one and they will soon pay for it when the equine unit starts to suffer dramatically unfortunately. Lastly, im not trying to say anything about the enterprise...just the teacher. dont let her stop you from taking the enterprise because it is so worth it i love it and its really rewarding but just know she doesnt always know what she is talking about
