She is very entusiastic about mathematics, however her inability to adapt her teaching style to a variety of student learning styles hinders her overall ability to be a good teacher. Math is not the easiest subject and it is one that requires that each step is understood before you can move on and grasp the next concept presented. Unfortuanted, Professor Pearson was not a very good teacher. She noticed that the class average scores were low on a specific standard and instead of taking some time to better explain the concept to ensure understanding she would move on to a similar, more complex concept which only furthered student confusion. her office hours were limited and although she attempted to seem available for help and to offer assistance she prefered to tell you something along the lines of, \"well how do you think you solve this problem?\" which was not helpful. I would not reccomend this professor to anyone and I wish I would have known a little more about her teaching styles so I could have switched into a class with a more experienced and helpful professor.

I had already taken this course in high school and got a C, decided to retake it instead of going on to calc because i wanted to make sure i understood the material. She could not explain anything and did not take the time to make sure we understood the material before moving on to the next chapter. 17 out of 30 students in my class failed and in the other classes 15 and 14 out of 30 students failed, there were only 1 B and 1 A in my class. I now have to retake the class for a THIRD time in order to go on to calc.

She is pretty dorky and loves the subject of math. But she can't teach. It's pretty bad. Out of a class of 35 students 14 failed the midterm. I dont know how many got D's but 14 definitely failed the midterm. Not only that but she an anal grader. Even if you get the answer right but notices you made a mistake along the way or didnt include your units in the final answer she will mark you off. As the person below mentioned, during her office hours she would ask you "well how do you think you could solve this problem?" if you ever went to go ask for help, which was just plain retarded because you have to set up three required meetings with her throughout the quarter. It was only worth 6% of your grade but still, most likely you will have a question and she will give you a question for you to answer yourself. Overall they weren't really helpful. I would never take this professor again in the future.

Pearson is awesome! She is teaching math because she genuinely likes the subject and helping people understand it. She is high energy and makes math as fun as she can. If you do your homework, ask intelligent questions, and study for the tests and quizzes you will get an A or a B. She tells you exactly what questions to study to be prepared. If you can't do well in her class, you won't last long at Cal Poly. Don't let haters tell you otherwise!

To whomever thinks this class was hard, unfair, impossible, dumb, etc. They are 100% wrong and 100% lazy. We go to college people, that means, we aren't babied. Pearson is no exception. Homework once a week, quizzes every other and 2 midterms. I was one of few who passed everything, but that is because I applied myself, talked to her when I was confused, STUDIED and asked questions. If you had a hard time in this class, it was because you didn't do your work, and to those writing poor reviews, you are blaming the wrong person. Finally, to those looking to take one of her classes, DO IT. She is a good teacher, she's quirky, flexible, understanding and she CARES if you understand the material. Do your damn work and you'll pass with an A I guarantee it.

During this entire quarter all I could think about was how this professor reminded me of that small little dog that runs through the back of scene 23 in The Incredibles by Pixar. Seriously, if you look it up you will only be able to see it...
