This class is a joke...literally the EASIEST class I've ever taken. Midterms are directly from study guides posted on blackboard (so there's no reason to attend class) ...same with the final (which isn't cumulative). If you scored poorly on the midterms she let's you re-take them. Grades papers SO easily...but no worries if you didn't do well because she let's you re-write them too! Lordus is knowledgeable in nutrition but loves talking about herself and her accomplishments. She was not very responsive when I e-mailed her for help with papers.

Ginger is awesome! May not but the hardest class ever, but there is a good amount of work. Read her directions, go to class and you'll be fine.

honestly the easiest teacher i have ever taken from. this class was probably the easiest class i have taken since middle school. there is no way you can NOT get an A in the class. you have a quiz every monday, but it rotates one week take home, one week group, one week individual. not only are they straight out of the powerpoint, but you can cheat sooooo easily. people open up their laptops during the quiz and find the answers. all you have to do is a presentation on a country which includes finding about the culture of that country, go to a restaurant from that country and write a restaurant review. the paper that we write along with the project was so easy. i bullshitted the whole thing and mangaged to get an 105% on it. mind you i absolutely suck at writing!!!! and you get food every class!! i probably went to class only on mondays and hte class was monday wedneday and i still managed to pass it super easily. shes a super loopy and chill teacher. this is the easiest class and i DEFINITELY reccommend taking it as a GE.

Ginger is an awesome teacher and her class is so much fun. Many students realize her class is easy so they decide never to go and to only show up on their presentation day or the test days. Shame on all of you. The content that Ginger covers in her class is nothing short of massive. She opens students minds to the culture and foods all over the world, and so much of her knowledge and the content she brings into class is interesting. She really shows the class the realities of the world we live in. Here in America we have a strict set of values, morals, and ideas- She shows us that in other countries, what they believe in seems ridiculous and amazing at the same time to us. This class is 50% food and 50% culture, food is yummy and she makes culture interesting. The class is not difficult to get an A in. Just study for the tests, give a good group presentation, go to a restaurant and give a review, and write about a country in your OWN WORDS in the essay she requires.

Take this class. It is fun and enlightening. You won't have to worry about your GPA suffering because of a snobby teacher who grades you on memorizing a book or lecture. It is a break from all of the other classes where apparently the only believed way to teach students is to test their short term memory on facts and equations that benefit them in NO aspects of their life. I will take more from this class than I took from my physics, coms, and bio class combined.

holy crap, this was the easiest class i've ever taken in my life. maybe even easier than the 1st grade. no seriously. like you show up, you fill out a paper, then you peace out. you honestly have to try really freaking hard not to get an A. i got questions wrong on the midterm and she marked them as right. SCORE. and also she gives you extra credit if she recognizes your face. g-lord is the sheeeeeet, forrealzzz. take this class if you have to fulfill the GE, way easier than healthy living & you only have to try half as hard.

GLord is an excellent professor and an excellent person. You will take a lot from this course, I promise. I learned a lot and will retain the information for my entire life. Her teaching style is very unique and refreshing.

Ginger is great! A lot of people claim that this class easy, but you actually do have to put in a good amount of work. The powerpoint, paper, restaurant evaluation, and cooking do take effort, and Ginger grades you accordingly to your performance on these things. The midterms are not hard IF you study. She puts up a study guide on blackboard before it; and if you study this, you can easily get an A on the midterms. Ginger is new at teaching this class, but she makes it very entertaining by providing a class in which you get to taste the cuisines of other cultures. I would definitely recommend taking this class as a GE or a major course. It absolutely beats taking the online version!

I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Professor Lordus! She is just so cool and she makes the class so fun and interesting. I really enjoyed her class and she is the Best professor I have ever had. The best part about this class was that you are enjoying what you are learning so you put in the effort to do well without even realizing it. Definitely consider yourself lucky if you get into her class. :)

This was one of favorite classes here at poly so far. I learned SO much that I will take with me and use in every course in the future. I have a far more worldly outlook and I think it will benefit me greatly. There are three midterms in this class, you NEED to study for them but if you put the time in, there are no problems. One hour long group presentation, on research paper and a restaurant review. very fun and interesting! loved her as well.

wow. Really cal poly?? This instructor may have the credentials but to call her a professor is ludacris. Anything you learn by midterm will be redundant by the final exam. Redundant or irrevelant, since we mainly hear from Ms Lordus' ego. Seriously people, I know its a glorified cooking class so you'd expect a little less, but she puts the bar so low you almost trip as much as she clearly has just listening to her lectures. Culture? Has she travelled anywhere besides down the rabbit hole? Listen, if you have a shred of self respect, avoid GLordus' class. But if you are hyper- insecure and need a self-proclaimed demagogue to worship, shes a sure A. Just tell her how young she looks. Pathetic.

This class is pretty much worthless, but its easy to get an A. I hated the class but if you are good at bullshitting your way through an essay, then you'll do well.

Ginger is awesome! Go to lecture. you might think you won't need to, but it eliminates the amount of time you'll need to study for exams. She'll highlight everyone on the powerpoints that will be on the test. Helps concise what you need to study. Super helpful and nice. Her class is unique-one of kind. Keeps the interest of the students by having group projects so each class there is a new group presenting every lecture. Plus you get to try some awesome food from around the world. Make sure to hit all the criteria for her journals or you can get a poor grade. Go to office hours for questions, she likes students who ask her questions in office hours and gets to know you. PS She's goofy.

Ginger Lordus is wonderful. I took this class CR/NCR as I am an ENGR grad student fulfilling a final GE requirement. However, I quickly realized that this class was not something I wanted to miss. Ginger is the most encouraging professor I've had at Cal Poly (and I've had some great ones in 5 years). She has a dynamic and positive attitude that was a pleasure each class period. FSN250 is not a challenging course work-wise, but challenges you to get involved and participate in exciting ways in lecture. Great, great gal.

Professor Lordus is a good professor. I was fortunate enough to get into this class as an engineering student, and it is totally worth it. She seemed to like everyone in my class so I think everyone got pretty good grades. She lectures the first few weeks of class and the rest of the quarter is all country presentations by students. Each group talks about the culture/politics/health etc of each country and serves food. Pretty entertaining. I will say that this can't be a tough class for her as a professor since she does not lecture most of the time and she has students grade the (take home) midterms in class. Overall, a good choice for a D4. Over half the spots in the class are reserved for people in the major so it's pretty difficult to get in if you are taking it as a GE. I used a priority and I was waitlisted but I was one of 3 people able to get in.

This class was nothing like I expected. I assumed we would be learning in-depth about different foods and traditions from countries across the world, and while we generally did learn about that, it was very basic information that resembled a country report I would have done in middle school. The information is very basic and trivial, and I did not feel like I learned a lot from class. Going to lecture felt like a waste of time. That being said, this class is an easy A with two papers, one take-home midterm and a final presentation about a country or region. TLDR: Easy class but you won't learn anything.

Don't pass up a class with Ms. Lordus!! Every class lecture was incredibly laid back and interactive. Some days we would taste food from the culture we studied, or meditated in class. Each class lecture was a presentation on a different country and they were all relatively interesting. She also doesn't care if you're on your phone/laptop the entire time. 3 take home midterms were given (1 was in place of a final). 2 "Journal" projects aka really laid back papers. 1 restaurant review project and 1 group presentation at the end of the quarter. Each class we worked in the same group to discuss an important topic relevant to that lectures powerpoint. OVERALL awesome class and a good way to fulfill your GE and UCSP (or whatever it is).

This ones an easy A. Super laid back teacher. She's a really nice lady. I attended less than half the lectures and I'll get an A. You won't really learn anything in this class as she just sorta skims over random topics about countries. There's no in depth learning of anything. I was really busy with other classes so I was okay with not having to do work and not learning. The only thing that bothered me was her willingness to believe anything that is 'alternative' without any supporting evidence (i.e. her stances on GMOs and homeopathy).

Professor Lordus is a very interesting woman. She has a very intriguing past and shares it in class sporadically. She is definatley not my type and some of her views are much different than mine however, this didn’t bother me too much because she is such a nice lady. She cares about her students and really wants everyone to do well in her class. Her 2 midterms are take home and all the answers are in green font on her powerpoints. There are a few projects that aren’t hard if you follow the directions and the final is an easy presentation. Sometimes she gives you over a 100% if she really likes your project and other times if you didn’t follow directions, she will let you redo it for full points! It is not a hard class and although i liked Professor Lordus, I never really liked going to the class. I didn’t see a point in going since there was never a “real” test and the last 45 minutes of every class you had to get with assigned groups and discuss articles. Professor lordus is big on “character”. at the end of each article you have to write “character statements” on what you are going to do in the real world with the knowledge you obtained from the article. It got really annoying really fast but this I where I probably learned the most in the class... By reading these controversial articles. But, overall, the class is easy and lordus is a great women. She's one of those professors that really wants all her students to succeed. Its not hard to get an A if you put in the slightest effort.

I loved Professor Lordus! She's a fun, quirky woman that loves to make the class interesting by dressing up, bringing props to class, interacting with students, and talking about each topic with passion. Her projects are really fun and allow for a lot of creativity. Her midterms are take-home and not too difficult, so the bulk of work you'll do for the class are writing assignments and projects that are actually really fun. I wish I could take this class again!

Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.
