Carole is such a sweet and caring lady. She's extremely organized, straightforward and goes at a steady pace. This class in itself is really basic and she's basically there to answer any questions regarding any of the material that your unsure of or don't remember from high school. There's a quiz every week that's worth 25 points each, 4 projects which make up 35% of your grade, 2 exams (midterms), and a final that's worth 20% of your grade. I'd highly recommend taking Carole for MATH 112.

If you take Simard, you have to be prepared to learn on your own. Her classes can be confusing and unclear. Her office hours can be helpful. She's a much better teacher one-on-one. I did fine in the class because I was remembered a lot of stuff from my high school pre-calc class. However, I had friends that are not good at math in any way, shape or form. This class was pure hell for them. If you have absolutely zero talent in math, then this is not the teacher for you.

Carole is very sweet, very organized, and very detail-oriented. She gives you worksheets for each lesson of notes that you fill in and do examples on during class which is nice to keep everything in order and organized. However, she moves extremely quickly, so if you get distracted for even a few minutes you will have no clue what she is talking about and half the time you won't know what to ask questions about. I mostly taught myself from the book and going through all the homework problems. The class is pretty straight forward, quizzes every week where you drop your lowest score, 3 midterms/exams, and a final. Exams are weighted extremely heavily and will really hurt you if you don't do well on them, so especially focus on those. Overall, she's sweet and fine as a teacher organizational-wise but personally I think she truly has a bitchy side because she's a very harsh grader and has no empathy even if the entire class doesn't do well on an exam.

Overall, Carol was an okay professor. She taught 119 basically through handouts, which never had a similar layout, and online homework via webassign. Webassign is my biggest complaint in the class mostly because it was more irritating and for me, not conducive in the learning process. There is weekly homework both online through webassign and bookwork with two midterms and a final. It is doable, but webassign is a pain to deal with. Also, if you do well on the final she replaces your lowest test score with that grade. Not a great class, but if you have to take it, it won't kill you.

Carole is the nicest lady ever. She sometimes gets a little muddled in front of the class during lecture and makes some silly/adorable foreign lady statements, but overall she does an extremely thorough job of teaching calculus. She really very badly wants to help you, I really recommend her office hours they're very helpful.
