Prodanov is an awesome professor. He explains everything clearly and relates it to real world applications so everything isn't just theoretical. It was his first quarter here at poly, but he's taught at other colleges over on the east coast. His accent was a lil hard to understand at first, but you get used to it and eventually don't even notice it at all. Homework is assigned 1-2 times a week of about 3-4 problems each. He gives a quiz about once a week, 15 questions, multiple choice. He gives you a study sheet with 6-8 questions that will be on the next quiz the lecture before. He likes to throw a couple trick questions in his quizes and midterms. The two midterms and the final are open-book and open-note. I honestly didn't think I was going to get a B in the class, but apparently he curves the grades a decent amount.

One of the best teachers I've ever had in Cal Poly. Amazing lectures.

One of the best professors I've had at poly. The lectures were engaging and interesting, and they presented the material in a different, and much better way than the book did. He also makes a good effort to connect what we are learning to the real world which is a massive plus, and is something that both of my previous circuits professors failed at. Prodanov is not afraid of putting nasty problems on exams and quizzes(the midterm had 50% average score), but he does curve, and ultimately the problems are fair. Really pay attention to the homework, and redo the problems near exam time. Also do the previous midterm problems that he posts. I did a bunch of problems from the book as well, but found that this didn't get me the same mileage as it did in previous circuits courses. Also, he's a decent guy and is helpful during office hours.

Fantastic professor, wonderful man. Presents all the material well, posts videos of lecture and slides which are invaluable doing homework. STUDY FOR THE QUIZZES HE GIVES THEM TO YOU AND THEYRE 13% EACH. Theres so little points in the class if you mess up, its hard to come back. So study for the little work you do have and you'll be good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED DO TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favorite EE professor so far. Printed fill in the blank notes AND recorded lectures that are clear and understandable? Yes please I'll take that any day of the week. He just has a very good way of presenting the material and he's also very good with grading. He's definitely at top tier of EE professors, highly recommend

This was probably my least favorite class I had to take last quarter (being CPE I'm not into the analog circuits stuff), but Prodanov definitely made this class both enjoyable and informative. He is the best lecturer in the EE department by far with easy to follow slide shows and notes (powerpoint slides) available online to print for the lectures. I came away from the class not feeling like I was forced to learn the useless theory / math, but knowing how to actually use the devices that were covered in a practical situation which is awesome. In my section the average on the final was a 49% (everybody ran out of time), but he curved the course so that everybody who took the final passed the class with only one person getting a D. I would highly recommend people take Prodanov whenever possible.

Absolutely fantastic, he's very clear and more teachers need to take a note out of his book and record their lectures. It's absolutely fantastic being able to rewatch parts of class that you might have missed or need to go over again (especially for those of us that find it much easier to learn from lectures instead of the rather dense engineering books). No surprises on the tests, a completely fair grader, and one of the best EE professors by a wide margin.

Dr. Prodanov is an ok professor for this course. His lectures are pretty good, because he provides fill in the blanks notes and he records all of his lectures so you can rewatch them again if you miss class or you don't understand something. There are also 3 quizzes, in which he provides 30 possible questions ahead of time and he chooses 15 of them to put on the quiz. Homework wasn't collected, b/c the department had to cut all of the graders. His tests on the otherhand are a different story. Maybe, it was just me, or because I'm not an EE expert, but I felt like his tests weren't on what was covered in class in all. They were on random topics that we spend maybe 25 minutes tops, so to do well you need to study and study well. Overall, an ok professor who curves the class to be a B- average.

This professor is Awesome. he has a bit of an accent (that sounds russian, which is cool, though he is actually bulgarian) and he tries to relate the material in a way you can understand with funny stories and stuff. you can talk to him about anything, he is extremely laid back. it was his second quarter teaching at Poly when I had him, so he would do things that seemed less conventional but would get you more interested. he once related the current in a PN junction like prisoners trying to escape a prison; if they werent fast enough they would get shot and dragged out the emitter, or something like that. he\'s a fair grader and he just wants you to learn the stuff. hes funny and interesting. I would definitely recommend him. he is going to be as cool as Taufik very soon.

Prodanov is a stud. If you take his class, you will learn the material and you will be prepared for future courses. His lectures are highly organized and all quiz/hw questions are designed to help you learn the material better, not just test your knowledge. Never forget the 2am knowledge!

Prodanov is the man. He comes to every single class prepared, presents information clearly, provides real help during office hours, and is an overall nice guy. I also had him for 348 lab. It's strange, he actually cares about you understanding what is happening in the lab, and not grammar errors in your lab report. That said, don't make mistakes in your lab report, you will pay dearly for them. Prodanov is an excellent professor, and he deserves to have excellent lab reports.

Dr. Prodonov is the best EE professor ever. Others don't even compare to his greatness. His lectures are solidly good and actually tells you what you are learning so you can keep track of what you have covered. His midterms are great. His quizzes are great too. Overall, my favorite and best EE prof.

Professor Prodanov is the best, if not only, Bulgarian electrical engineering professor I have. For those who are deciding whether or not to take him for this class, I need to inform you that the grading scale for this class is very tight. Generally, the majority of the class will score the same for all the quizzes, homework, MOSFET project, and single take-home-midterm he gives in class. Thus, all will be decided on the final, which makes taking his class a bit more cutthroat near due to the competition to come out ranked near the top. I swear, a student even emailed him one time about being unable to complete the take-home-midterm. Be prepared everyday with his printouts, which I considered a waste of trees until I learned each tree cut down produces 8530 pages, and with an average of 8 pages for 28 notes, a single student will print about 224 pages, which is 2.62% of a tree. 60 students will mean that 157% or more than 1 and 1/2 of a tree will be cut down every quarter for all his lecture notes. Also, he is not Russian, never call him Russian or he will automatically fail you. Go ahead. Try.

Prodanov is a good lecturer and structures his presentations for material really well but does not recognize when his students are confused or need help. Students seem to avoid approaching him or asking questions during class because he has a cold demeanor and expects you not to be confused at all, often condescendingly answering questions with a glare and a "you should know this, don't ask me again" tone. He took a risk in changing the structure of homework, requiring students to write problems covering his material. The problem is a lot of students had a lack in ability to write out these problems as well as were never introduced to this concept in other classes. The effect of this structure is that it works for few but not for the many students whom he constantly showed were doing poor in terms of midterm and quiz scores on a graph and he is still wonders why that is. This cycles over into new material, and overall snowballs to a class with poor performance. If Prodanov decides to teach the same way, I wouldn't take him again or recommend him to any other student.

Good 'ol Vlad is literally the best teacher I've ever had. I have no idea why a man this smart and friendly isn't working in the industry making bank. A friend and I went out with him and got beer...that should tell you how chill of a guy he is. I got an internship because of him and rekindled my love for Electrical Engineering. If you're an electrical engineer, take his class. If you go to Cal Poly, take his class. Hell, if you don't go to Cal Poly, just sit in the back and pretend you belong.

Проданов е най-добрият професор, който някога съм имал. Бих препоръчал този клас на всеки, дори и на студент по електротехника. За самия професор, благодарим ви за усилията си и ще ви липсва следващото тримесечие. Thats bulgarian for Prodanov is basically the only Engineering teacher at Cal Poly who will never get paid enough, hes a teacher for the students, he can actually teach, he is enthusiastic, he comes ready to help every student he can and he is so so fair, 10/10, if you have the opportunity to take his class, do not waste it, its so important that you experience real teaching before the further promote Agbo to some god knows what position and push all of the teachers who try out.

One of the best EE professors at this school. Maybe the best. I went into this class after having Braun for 306 and 307 and honestly that made me hate the electronics series. Prodagod has shown me how f*cking cool analog design is and completely restored my passion for electronics as an EE. He lectures so damn well. He keeps you interested the whole lecture, makes jokes, and low-key roasts some original electronic geniuses like Darlington. Vlad keeps to the schedule he posts online and even plans for one to two days of review before the midterms, handing out his exams from a year ago. The EE department needs every current and new professor to learn how to teach from Prodagod himself. This guy was the co-founder and CTO of a company before he came to teach, what a badass. He could be making $$$ in industry right now he's so smart, personable, and experienced. I would take any class taught by this man at anytime.

Best EE professor I have ever had. Professor Prodanov is extremely organized and cares deeply about the material and his students. He somehow took a class that was packed with material and made it simple and easy to understand. He posts his lecture notes before class and then videos of his lectures after class which are very helpful if you are not a morning person and would rather watch the lectures in the afternoon. He gave us 2 quizzes and a take home midterm which were very straight foward. I have also had Prodanov for 212 and 308 and he was awesome in those classes as well. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!

This guy is awesome. He records his lectures and provides notes for you before class (fill in the blank). This is great because if you missed out on something during lecture or didn\'t have enough time to print out the notes, you can always go back and refer to his videos. The only problem I had is figuring out what he was doing when he described circuits on the screen/board, so I would suggest showing up to class. Also, this guy is all about being practical. For example, when you calculate resistor values and such, the values you choose should be ones that are listed on the list of standard value resistors. He assigns homework, take home MT, 1 project, quizzes, and final. For quizzes, he\'ll give you 30 questions to answer, and in class he\'ll choose 15 out of the 30 to quiz you on. If you are given the opportunity, take this guy!

Dr. Prodanov is the best EE lecturer I've had at Cal Poly. His lectures flowed well because he made extremely good use of slides. He provided a redacted version of his slides so that students did not need to spend time copying down schematics or long equations. Although he was basically following a script, he was still able to do things extemporaneously when necessary, answering student questions as they came up. Lectures were recorded and available as video. Exams were open notes - I recommend either making a cheat sheet or indexing your notes because there is a huge volume of material covered in this class.

He flipped out pretty hard at our class because he caught some students copying homework solutions. He was rightfully mad, but his response was to stop posting any homework or study guides for us after. This made it a lot harder to practice material in the class and was rather annoying. Otherwise though he's a great professor. I can see why he is considered one of the best in the EE department. Explains material very clearly and his tests are pretty fair. Funny guy too. Just make sure he doesn't think you're cheating your way through the class.

Prodanov is one of the best lecturers in the department. His slides are concise and moderate effort put into this class will result only in mastery of the material. That said, I would caution speaking with him during office hours or asking questions because he doesn't seem like he wants to answer them. His role to only lecture is fine for most people. If you do plan on doing senior project with him though, I am sure the experience will be different. For this class in particular, it is NECESSARY to have knowledge or review of EE 302. EE 409 is better worded as a "design with op-amp" class as you will learn about different types and how to use them, all the while using transfer functions and feedback. He doesn't slow down so lots of review if you have forgotten 302. All in all, fantastic albeit not approachable.

I've taken Professor Prodanov for several classes as a Junior and Senior and i must say that he is possibly one of the best EE professors in the department. His classes are structured in way to optimize you're learning. His lectures are fluid and he gives you fill-in-the-blank notes. Homeworks are based off each lecture and are very doable. He also makes quizzes in which he chooses 15 out of the 30 questions he provides you with in a Quiz Prep. Of course, his class is still not a cakewalk as his midterms can be challenging at times. All in all, take this professor whenever you can and you will not be disappointed!

Prodanov is consistently the best engineering teacher I've had at Cal Poly. I've had him for EE 308, 409, and 412, and his style doesn't get old. He lectures very coherently, using fill-in-the-blank slides and confident clarity. If you're taking him for the first time, here's what you should know: -The 30 quiz questions are designed to test your understanding of the material, so make sure you know how to solve each one before memorizing the answers. -He seems intimidating at first, but is actually a great guy. Give him respect and don't ask dumb questions, but don't be afraid to ask legit questions - he'll usually answer them well. -Don't underestimate the exams. They're open note, but can be very challenging. Help yourself out by knowing where to find what (make an index or a cheat sheet).
