Ridley was by fair my favorite first year studio teacher. I learned so much from him and he always seemed genuinely interested in helping me. His class was so much fun. Definitely try to take him!

By any standards, Ridley is one of Poly's new crop of "baby" arch professors... Along with a few others, Ridley is now teaching in a program he graduated from less than a decade ago. This presents both pros and cons. Luckily, unlike some other baby arch profs, Ridley doesn't seem to be overwhelmed with the desire to prove he is a Very Serious Professor of Architecture. Instead, he seems more than happy (!) to connect with his students on an immediate level. He's sarcastic, funny (very), and if a little moody, well, who isn't? He works part time at a firm and has young kids... I'd be tired and moody too. I haven't received a grade yet, but I've heard from others that Ridley doesn't like to give out A's, and I'm OK with that. He states explicitly at the quarter's onset that he only gives A's out to students with ZERO late work... You might as well ask architecture students to learn to fly. Seriously, we're never done.
