He is probably the worst teacher I've had at Cal Poly. He goes through the syllabus and explains how he has to skip a few sections because he teaches too slow. His lectures are excruciating. And in his labs, he spends the first hour or so going over more lecture and homework, just to make sure you never get out early. He has almost no confidence when he teaches, signified by the 'um's and 'uh's every sentence. I would recommend everyone to avoid him at all costs, because you will probably die of boredom in his class, and feel like you never really learned anything.

SCARED CAT!!!!! This guy is afraid of people. He is terrified of students.... especially their questions. He was behind four sections on week nine. We cover four sections in three classes!!!! We never caught up to the other classes. Labs were always foreign to us since we were behind. This guy doesnt even know how to solve his own quizzes. Dont take him. I had Mottman before and he is an angel compared to this guy

Takemae is the worst professor I\'ve had at CalPoly by far. He spends way too much time on examples and never teaches anything. I very much agree with every comment below.

Why is his name not capitalized on this site? Anyway, Seiji Takemae seems to be a really nice guy. However, he is a poor professor. Earnest, but poor. I am not sure why he is teaching at all, since both his speaking skills and social skills are not up to snuff. As a result, he is unable to convey information in a way that is meaningful and/or engaging to students. I am a fairly awkward person just like him, so I can relate. However, the decision to teach does not make much sense to me. He would be much better suited for a researching profession. On the positive side, I don\'t think the actual coursework he gives is that bad. Had I been better about keeping up with the class by regularly doing homework problems (which are assigned but not graded), I would have been able to get at least a B. Still, I would not recommend this professor at all. Professor Takemae, if you are reading this, please consider another profession, or consider taking public speaking lessons.

Takemae is a very, very hesitant teacher. You almost feel bad for him because he tries hard, but simply hasn\'t got the whole teaching thing down. He\'s not effective while lecturing because he goes very slowly and mistakes the class\' silence for confusion and not the boredom it really is. The bottom line is that he\'s an easy teacher, but a boring teacher. Is it worth it to take him? Probably not. You\'ll get a good grade, but you simply won\'t be prepared for future classes.

Takemae is a okay teacher but seems to be dull and shy. If you are confused about something, instead of teaching you and trying to let you figure out whats wrong, he does the work for you. The labs are dumb and he makes sure we stay for 3 or more hours. Lectures for a hour when he doesnt need to and gives a shit load of warmup problems that need to be turned in as well. Grades the labs pretty tough. Overall he is okay but I heard he is worst in lecture.

Takmae is actually a good teacher if you adapt to his class. Unfortunately most people don\'t even respect him during lecture, many talking openly during class, coming late, and leaving early. I strongly suggest going to his office hours as he teaches you the material very well if it is 1 on 1.

Avoid him if you can! I almost got a D in the class but didn\'t because I locked myself in a classroom for 2 or 3 days before the final and just studied studied studied. If you do take him, study hard, and keep on top of things. Do all the practice problems even though they aren\'t required and maek sure to understand everything!
