There is a lot of material to cover in this class. Will does her best to make it interesting. She's strict, but she is a good teacher. Go to office hours and study the slides and you should be fine. If I had worked a little harder I could have gotten an A. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. She only assigned 2 hw assignments, which you can answer with your notes. I paid $180 for a book that I never opened.

First of all, Soil Science has been the hardest class I have taken at Cal Poly (too much information for a 10 week quarter). Professor Will is a super nice person and is very helpful. She provides power point presentations on blackboard for you to download and print out. So the book is kind of point less, but there are a few homework assignments where the book is required. Her tests are 95% from the power point presentations. It isn't crucial to come to class since all she does is go over the power points in class; however there were two times that she gave the class 2-3% extra credit on there next midterm score (one of those days was Halloween FYI). There are 3 midterms and a final. The last midterm was on the Friday of dead week which really really sucked. And the final was almost directly from her 3 midterms (she posts the midterms with the answers on blackboard). She is very helpful in office hours. Excellent at using blackboard efficiently. Would recommend her even though I have heard she is harder than other Soil Science teachers.

I had a terrible time with Will, at the beginning of the year she yelled and cursed at me because I had missed a class, I did not understand most of the material she presented in lab. In my experience she is a poor teacher and her actions at the beginning of the year were uncalled for and very unbefitting of a college professor.

This was an awful class to have to go to at 8am. You could tell that nobody cared about soil, we were taking the class because we had to. But she would talk about it like she thought we cared. She\'s an okay teacher, I guess. She seems really uptight or something though. Just be nice to her and she\'ll be nice to you.

She presents a lot of material. Everything is on slideshows, but she goes through them so fast that you have to copy everything down and you dont listen to what she is saying. the quizzes are open note and straight out of the notes. the midterms are also all from the notes. Even if it seems like something is not important, write it down. She will ask about the examples from her powerpoint. I suggest looking over your notes after class at least once a week before the quizzes. I did not always do that and I think it would have helped me a lot

DR. WIll is a great lecture teacher. she is pretty funny because she is super enthusiastic about soils. She has weekly quizes from the stuff on the notes that are super easy and her finals are difficult just cuase there is so much material to memorize. overall i would recomend her

Professor Will takes a very long time to explain the lab, then we do the lab quicker. She gives a quiz every class which is half your grade, then the labs are the other half. I didn't like the class very much and I found it pretty boring, but I heard she's better in lecture.

Arragont and hard to get to answer simple questions. She seemed rushed and not interested in the students. Don't take for 121 lab!

Professor Will probably made soils one of the most interesting topics I've taken. She is deeply passionate about soils and she is always enthusiastic when explaining questions you have. She is pretty funny and makes the lecture go by pretty quickly. Her lectures are very well organized; exceptional power point presentations. Some of the material can become pretty complex, especially when it comes to soil water calculations, but if you ask her, she will help clarify things. I definitely recommend her for SS121.

She is a very nice lady and loves soil clearly. She reads over the prelab for like an hour even though everyone is capable of reading it on their own. Her quizzes each class become tedious and she is a stickler on grading. You usually get out early though which is good...not too bad if you pay attention and listen to directions.

I liked her a lot. She made Soil Science very interesting, even though it was quite difficult. I honestly found this course fascinating, and she was very enthusiastic. She is a first class professor in knowing material regarding soil science. I would recommend her.

I thought I was going to die when I took this class just because it's about soil, but I found the material to be presented very clearly and organized. She doesn't really try to connect with her students very much, but she's passionate about the subject and it makes it a lot easier to follow during lecture. There's not really any homework, and the tests are based completely off of the notes. I made quizlets out of ALL of the powerpoints/notes and ended up with an A-. It was a lot of work, but you can do it if you really make an effort. If you're gonna take SS 121, take Will for lecture. As a teacher, she knows what she's doing.

Dr. Will is an excellent professor! Definitely the best lecturer I've ever had. She explains concepts in a way so students can understand them. I can honestly say I learned so much in this class, it's not even funny. She posts her slides on polylearn, so I recommend taking notes on what she's saying instead of just jotting down everything that's on the slide. Her study guides for the exams are extremely helpful, and if you visit during her office hours and ask nicely she will give you all the answers to the study guide questions. Forming a study group is also extremely helpful for this class. Overall, this was a fantastic class due to a fantastic professor. Oh, and you really don't need to buy the book. Seriously. Everything in the book is covered in her lectures.

Prof. Will is a great instructor. Her lectures are completely centered on powerpoints she puts up a day before the class. She's really into soil. She can be blunt with you, so fair warning if you think you're the one running the show. Her lab quizzes can be very specific with little half-credit wiggle room, but she will regrade if something hasn't been made clear. Her class has 2 midterms and one final, everything is multiple choice. Also, if you show up to every single class you get 15 points extra credit. Overall she's a good, fair soil science professor.

TAKE WILL and I will tell you why. Before each midterm and the final, Dr. Will will send out a study guide. These are long- over 100 questions multiple choice, but if you take the time to study and ultimately memorize the answers to the study guide you will do great on the tests. Half the questions on the tests are literally from the study guide and the other half are almost the same but ask the opposite. Pretty much Will makes it very easy to pass this class. The biggest downside is her ridiculous attendance policy..

First, I would like to clarify that I don't dislike this professor just because I failed her class. I could have passed with an A and still disliked her. Will is terrible at answering any questions you have. She reads off of her slides EVERY class. She notices when you're not at class and holds a grudge. She gives quizzes and HW that you can only do if you were in class that day. Her lecture made me want to fall asleep every single time. I would email her and she wouldn't email me back. Overall, not the best teacher. She made me HATE this class and if I retake it, it will be with another professor because I could not survive another quarter with her. If you do take this class, show up to every class, make sure to fill out the study guides, and study, study, study. There is a ton of material and it is unbearably uninteresting.

Professor Will is going to talk and talk about soil and everyone in the class is going to be like..."what is she talking about". She expects everyone to know what every single vocabulary word is when she never even teaches it in the first place. The only way to do well is to literally memorize the study guide and slides (even though they might not make sense) and hopefully you can pull it off. Professor Will gets frustrated very easily by simple questions and I even heard her call a student a "son of a bitch" when they mixed up a stack of graded papers students were picking up. This woman is a horrible professor avoid her at all costs. Soil science could be interesting, but she makes the curriculum way to complicated and hard to grasp at a basic level.

I have Will for LAB in soil science right now and she is terrible. She doesn't teach the lab material well and she talks forever without pauses and doesn't give you the time to soak it in or ask questions. I have done well in labs so far, but she is no help. Also if you mess up a lab procedure and she finds out she ridicule you in front of the whole class. Also the material you learn in lab doesn't match up with what you learn in lecture week by week so it's harder to grasp. This is regardless of who your lecture teacher is for SS, I know people in her lecture that are also in lab with me that don't even know what she's talking about, yet she expects you to. I would not recommend her. Take the lab with the other guy.

Honestly everyone seems to be digging on Dr. Will but I felt as though her class wasn't bad at all. Don't buy the book- I didn't open it once. I got a B just by going to every class (and sitting near the front) and taking good notes. If I missed some info on a slide, I went home and wrote it in. To do well on her midterms, memorize the study guides she gives you. To do well on her "pop" quizzes (she would sort of hint that she would give one ), read/go over your notes beforehand so you can find the answer quickly during the quiz. For lab just make sure you complete everything throughly on the worksheets and study for the quizzes the night before by knowing all of the objectives for the past (not upcoming) lab. Good luck!

Will is a great teacher and clearly enthusiastic about soils. She knows just about everything that has to do with soils. The midterms and final are difficult but if you do the study guides you will recognize most of the questions. There isn't much homework assigned except for the lab (depending on who you get). I highly recommend Will and wish she was teaching 221 this quarter

I love Will. She is super nice and her lectures are straight from the book, so don't bother getting it. Mine sat in my closet all quarter. She posts her lecture slides which is super helpful. The class is relatively easy, she posts practice tests for each exam and reuses most of the questions, so as long as you know the material and do the practice tests, you will for sure get an A in the class. If you go to her office hours, she will help you on whatever you need. I went in to get help on the homework and she went over all my answers with me and I got 100% on it. Take her for this class!

Two Midterms, 1 Final, 2 random quizzes along with 2 random homeworks ( You have to be in class that day to get them or you get an automatic 0) in the lecture. The lab was a lot of work, difficult quizzes every week. THE TESTS ARE ALMOST THE EXACT SAME AS THE STUDY GUIDES, so do the study guide, check them over with the correct answers in her office hours, and study them and getting a B or better in the class is no problem. She was very enthusiastic while teaching and was extremely knowledgable. Overall I really enjoyed this class and learned ALOT. Take WILL.

Will is nice and I would recommend her. Soil Science is hard, that's the truth. No professor is going to make it "easy"--there's simply too much to cover. I got an A because I went to office hours weekly and had her check my lab answers before I turned them in in class. I would recommend getting on her good side early on, say hi, ask her how she's doing. She has a lot on her plate and can be short with students when asked a lot of questions. But if you develop a genuine teacher-student relationship and show your interest in the subject matter, she'll be more helpful with her replies and give you clearer answers. There are weekly lab quizzes but she gives you an outline of exactly what you need to know. No surprises. Very do-able if you put the time in!

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I had to buy it new for $200 and didn't use it once. She made it seem like it was very necessary to succeed, but I realized 3 weeks in that in was a huge waste of money. She assigned two homework readings that I found easily online. She said herself that the book was too advanced for the class and it ended up being much easier to just pay attention to lecture. If I had worked a little harder I could have gotten an A. Her reviews are almost the same as the midterms, but she changes the wording around so be careful not to just memorize answers.

Avoid this pitbull of a person if you can. It is very clear that she hates her job and takes it out on students who are unlucky enough to be stuck with her. She is often cranky and demeaning towards students. She becomes extremely hostile with no provocation. Will should not work with people at all because she doesn't understand them. She will give decent grades to people if they suck up, or simply don't ask any questions. Her worst behavior emerges in a lab situation; the overall atmosphere is quite grim, and not at all like other labs. I really don't think she knows a lot about science because she does not seem to understand significant figures. She distributes an exam study guide which is a lot like the exam... I guess not many people would pass without it. Classroom discussion is supposed to be a part of any course, but is really non existent in her class. She often ends the class early so she can go do something besides invest in the education that YOU pay for. Do yourself a favor and avoid this person if you can, but if she is hostile towards you for being something different than whatever she likes just understand that this person should not be employed by any school anywhere. It is shameful that the school keeps her employed.

Elizabeth Will reads powerpoints 100% of class time. Labs were disorganized and most of her experiments didn\'t work. She refused to talk to me when I needed help. I have to try again next year. The fact that I have to take her again makes me depressed. I wish somebody else would teach the course.
