Bing is an excellent and funny teacher. Definitely recommended. He has a hard time answering questions and can be hard to understand, but go to his office hours and he will take all the time necessary to help out.

Good professor overall, doesn't present some of the stuff in the most clear way possible though. I though for sure I was getting an A and I somehow ended up with a B+!

Bing Qu is a pretty good professor. He presents the material well and uses good examples. His homeworks are long but really really help you in the end. He has one big midterm week 9 and 10 of class (more like a final), but it really helps you prepare for the common final. Only bad thing, Qu is terrible in office hours. He always made me feel stupid and just said to look back at my notes. Other than that, I would recommend Bing Qu.

Bing Qu explains things very well. If you go to class every day, you will probably get an A or a B. I had Kasper for CE 207 the first time I took it, and got a D. When I retook the class, Bing explained the material much more thoroughly, and I didn't even have to study that much. Highly recommend this guy.

Bing Qu is a really good professor. I would definitely recommend him. He goes over the material very clearly and slowly. He does curve the class as well. His midterm was not hard. It was very similar to the problems in the book. I found the final to be 10x harder than the midterm though. It would have been better if he gave out more quizzes. We only had one quiz during the whole quarter and it was very simple. The homework load was not that bad either. There were about 12 - 15 questions, but some of the questions went by quickly. The homework that took the longest had to deal with integration, but if you don't procrastinate, you should be fine. He only gave us problems that we should know/be prepared for the midterm.

Pros: Fairly clear in lecture Midterm has problems from homework and practice final Cons: Lots of homework. 12-15 problems a week (but these are problems that take 10-20 mins a piece Accent is a bit difficult to understand Did not prepare us very well for the ridiculous final (but did anyone?)

I loved Bing Qu. He does have an accent, but he tries to explain things as clearly as possible. He also tries to explain things in other ways if students are unclear. My favorite part of of Bing Qu's teaching is that he uses his body to demonstrate what is going on in a beam. One downside is that he is bad a handing back work and midterms. Would highly reccomend.

Bing is definitely one of the better CE profs I\'ve had. He made Numerical Analysis a lot more tangible and easier to understand compared to past professors for the same class. His lectures are pretty straight-forward. He lectures off notes he passes out. I learned everything based on the examples that he gives to clarify these methods. You have now been warned that the homework for this class is very LONG! On average, each assignment took me 5 to 6 hours!!! There are 8 or 9 assignments, so you do the math. His midterm was really easy (the average was in the 80s). However, his final was intense! Three hours of furiously typing away on your calculator. Hopefully, the same isn\'t true for you when you take his final. Take Qu, he knows what he\'s talking about and presents the material clearly.

Bing Qu is a very caring and devoted professor- he will walk you through each step of the material, which is great for the harder stuff and tedious through the matix operations *snore*. Great during office hours. His homeworks are very very long, but prepare you for his easy midterms. You get an equation sheet for the midterm and the final; however, be prepared for a CRAZY final... I had a B going into the final a received a C+ overall. Since I was a little pissed, I listed my grade as a \'B\' here to make myself feel better. hah.

The class starts out very slow and simple, just reviewing statics and moment diagrams. Then mid quarter he flies through a lot of new material and expects for you to know it very well. I would suggest practicing a lot of problems before the tests because he grades harshly when he sees a lot of little mistakes. I didn\'t think the material was hard to understand but to get the correct answer after a page of calculations takes practice. I would also suggest becoming a bending moment diagram master early on in the class because they are used a lot and he drills you on points if you dont draw the correct diagram.

Bing is the man, plain and simple. He passes out his lectures each class, with is very convenient. He explains the material well and all of his examples are very helpful. His midterms and final can be a bit tricky, but he usually goes over the midterm and final beforehand and tells you what u can expect from each problem. Hes just a genuine nice guy, take him if you can

Many people will tell you that Bing gives really good class notes and that you don\'t need to buy the book. The first part is true, but considering how almost all of the test questions came out of the lab problems or textbook, it would be a wise investment. Additionally, since there is limited time in lecture, he does his best to explain the material in the time given, but ultimately you will have to go home and do more examples or read through the book examples to fully understand the methods. That said, this class is really just CE 207, but more in depth and with more statics. The funny thing is Bing will tell you exactly what to expect for each of the midterm/final problems and you can still screw them up because he likes to be very tricky. Overall, I would definitely take him again!

Bing Qu is not a good teacher for a design course! He is very hard to understand and his hand writing is worse than his english. He just rushes through steps and doesnt explain why one answer is taken over another during design. He does not finish examples and examples that he does do are right from the book so it is not very helpful. Also put things on the test that he did not cover and put things that he said not worry about because that \"scenario could never happen in real life, so why should you study it.\" Well he does put things that apparently cant happen in real life and what he said not to worry about. Hope is not teaching at Cal Poly for the next years to come, or at least teaches basic classes like CE 207. Definitly will avoid him for anything else in the future!
