Dr. Paquin is a great teacher. you can joke around with her and she is laid back in class. the only thing that sucked was the ALEKS thing she assigned, just a lot of work. theres a quiz every week, open note which helped a ton. she always posts good study guides on her blackboard for the midterm and final. Also have a lab on fridays which are pretty easy. its save to say shes one of the best math teachers here at poly

Thanks to Dr.P, I am absolutely in love and I repeat in love with the scariest class ever... Calculus. She made the material easy to understand and she actually made me consider becoming a math major. Thanks Dr.P, you have really made my first year at Cal Poly awesome. Take her class and I swear you will never look back. Goodluck.

Dr. Paquin is THE best teacher. She presents the material is the most straightforward way possible, and provides many examples that really help you understand. Weekly quizzes are open note, and many of them are straight from the homework. The midterm and final take some questions from the quizzes, so studying those really help. She is the most amazing teacher, I can\'t describe her anyway else. She really knows what she\'s talking about, and will help any student who doesn\'t understand even a little bit. You will not regret taking her.

dana is an awesome teacher, probably the best i\'ve had in my three quarters here at poly. she presents the material in a straightforward manner that is very easy to understand. she also cares about the students in her class unlike a lot of professors and creates an atmosphere where a lot of the students become friends. overall a great teacher

TAKE HER!!! She is absolutely one of the best professors I have ever had. I was nervous to take Calculus (only going to pre-calc in community college) but I lucked out with her. She explains everything very clearly, and she really cares if you learn the material, and she will do everything she can to make it understandable. Plus her office hours are usually held in a fish bowl in the library. This makes it very easy to go talk to her and get as much help as you need. I ended up going to her office hours after class nearly every day to do my homework and have that extra support. I recommend everyone take Paquin, she is by far one of the best math professors!

One of the best teachers I've had, she was very good at presenting information and helping students when they didn't understand, she is knowledgeable in both math and teaching (something I can't say for a lot of math teachers) and her grading was very lenient and fair. Definitely made a hard class much easier to pass and do well in.

She is an excellent professor, you can tell that immediately after the first day of class. She is friendly and you can joke around with her, but she always makes good sense of the material, showing where all new formulas come from before using them. She teaches through example problems each lecture, which really helps on the homework problems which are assigned daily and collected twice a week. You work in groups on the weekly quizzes, but they can be difficult. Two midterms and a final - study for them on top of doing homework, it will make them go by much easier. She coordinates homework problems with other professors, so you can work on them together with your peers in other classes, and she gives out a very clear review with each test (use it , calculus has tough tests), and her office hours are a valuable resource. Overall she is the best professor I have had yet, and I would highly recommend her. I didn\'t get the best grade in the class since I slacked on the homework and in studying for finals, but if you make this class a priority (which you should), all that she helps you with will guarantee you a good grade. I honestly feel that I have a strong grasp on the material from this instructor, take her if you ever have the chance

Dr. Paquin was by far the best math teacher I\'ve seen here at Cal Poly. She is very clear in the lectures and her method of teaching is very logical and allows the student to easily progress through the steps it takes to solve a problem. Her office hours are an excellent resource and she is always very nice. She is very easy to get along with and you can joke with her in class. She definitely eased the pain of calculus quite a bit.

Dr. Paquin is an excellent teacher who goes out of her way to take care of here students. She writes tests that the students expect to see. She has mostly one-on-one relationships with students during office hours in which she\'ll know you by name and even learn you academic habits. This really helped me when I was struggling because she was able to recognize it and help me out.

Dr. P is a fantastic professor. She presents material clearly and is happy is is more than happy to take any and all questions. The final grade is determined by quiz grades, two midterms, and a final (homework is optional, although she handpicks problems from the book so it actually quite a good study tool). She is also the most personable professor I've had while at poly. She goes out of her to help students, even changing her office hours schedule to match the majority of students in the class. So many student came to her office hours because she is so helpful and nice that she had to move them to the library. Take her!

No one is exaggerating when they say that Paquin was the best teacher they've ever had. If you can take any of her classes, consider yourself lucky. Every math class I've taken after Paquin's has made me miss her incredibly. The class is pretty stress free because she doesn't collect the homework. That being said, doing the homework does benefit you because Dana is willing to answer any homework related problems in class. Working in a study group also helps, and Dana's office hours are normally in a study group setting. She normally gives practice midterms and exams which are EXTREMELY helpful because practicing doing them yourself and then checking your answers with hers works better than the notecard method of studying. Dana explains everything at an extremely smooth pace. Unlike other math teachers, she engages her class every few minutes to make sure every single student is following and on the same page. She's also very approachable and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions in class. Above all, she's a very supportive person and makes herself out to be more like a friend who is trying to help you understand the most important concepts, as well as receive the best grade you can for yourself. I think Paquin can fit many peoples' definition of a perfect teacher... I hope she reads this because I don't mind writing an anonymous A+ rating for one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Dr. P is an amazing professor. Whenever a student would have a question, she would address them directly. And if the student was having trouble understand the concept she would connect the subject to a topic in the student's major. The quizzes are tough but she lets you talk with your group for ten minutes i the middle of the quiz to compare answers and help each other. The exams are brutal though. 143 is not an easy class but Dr. P make sit a lot easier.

Dr. P is AMAZING! I'm still in her Calc III class right now during dead week and while I have not done amazing in her midterms, I completely recognize they were stupid mistakes on my part in addition to failure of studying a couple concepts. Her way of teaching the material is great and really helps students understand Calc III. Majority of students hate Calc III but Dr. Paquin makes the class such an enjoyment. There are occassions where she puts lectures up on PolyLearn, asks us to watch them, and then we work on an assignment worksheet with our groups in class. I personally enjoy it! Her midterms and quizzes are really fair and she definitely does similar if not the same examples during class so by attending lecture plus doing the homework (which is not required) you should totally be fine! If Dr. Paquin is teaching a math course, take HER!

Dr. P is a goddess. If you have the option of taking her class, do it! She really takes the time to get to know everyone in the class, on both an academic level and on a personal level. She is the sweetest lady and really knows her stuff! She assigns optional homework (I highly recommend doing it), group quizzes, in-class worksheets that translate to quizzes on polylearn (she's practically giving you free points), and very fair tests. She will do some lectures in class, but she also records short lectures and puts them on youtube so that the class can watch her explain the topics at their own pace and then ask for clarification in class. There isn't a single bad thing I could say about this woman, take her class!!

Dr.P is by far the best professor I have taken so far! She takes the time to know her students and is very understanding. She makes sure all her students understand the concept before moving on with everything. She has a notebook that has all the class notes so you can focus on paying attention in class than writing everything she puts on the board. All in-class quizzes are group, homework is optional but I recommend completing it, and worksheets done in class. If you ever have the opportunity to take her class, DO IT!

This is by far the best professor I have ever had. She takes the time to explain the material and she makes sure everyone understand the material before moving on. She dedicated the first day of class to memorizing everyone's names. She has group quizzes which really help. She assigns problems that most of the time you finish in class and then you need to submit them online. Her exams are pretty straightforward and challenging but she prepares you for them pretty well. She has office hours in a fishbowl at the library where you can pretty much do her optional homework and talk about her stance at Geneva! If you have the privilege to take her, please do and take advantage of her amazing personality. She inspired me to declare my minor in Mathematics. I have yet to see her around campus since last quarter but if I do, I might just give her a hug. :-)

There are no words to express what a fantastic teacher Dr. Paquin is. She is extremely intelligent but focuses 100% on the material. She makes it very easy to understand and does omework in class that you turn in online. She lectures fast, but leaves a TON of time at the end of class for questions. Almost every class was let out early. She always is eating an apple and smiling or laughing. Will let the class out early if it is hot. She genuinely really cares about her students and will love you if you talk to her. Reminds me of my mom. I remember I was sick for a couple of days and missed class and she emailed me asking if i needed her help with anything and allowed me time to recover and makeup a quiz i missed a week later once i was feeling better. i love the way her class is set up. she has videos online of her lectures so you can go back to material u didn't understand, there isn't any homework to turn in but she does assign optional practice problems from the book. you might be thinking, well then how do i get credit for homework? thats easy points! so instead of homework she assigns weekly in class quizzes, but she basically tells you what kinds of problems will be on the quizzes so you know exactly what to study for. also they are group quizzes. the first midterm was pretty hard for me but the subject seems to get easier in the second half of it. the final was pretty straightforward and i felt like she prepared us well for it. she wants you to succeed. 20/10 would recommend

Dr. P is literally the greatest math professor I've had at Cal Poly, and as a math major I've had quite a few. On the first day of the course she spent a good twenty minutes learning our names, and that dedication and care for us as students was something she held on to throughout the quarter. She does an incredible job of teaching, using the perfect balance of both theory and examples in her lectures. She gives us some time during her lectures to work on parts of examples to make sure we understand before even moving on to the next example, and I loved that. It was never straight lecture, although I know we would have all loved that too since she is so inviting, kind, clear, and humorous in her teaching. She gives group quizzes, which are great because they give you opportunities to talk amongst your peers about the material, and they also help make the class bond tighter in general. Her office hours are always extremely helpful and she always knows what to do when students don't understand certain concepts. She usually understands what you're not grasping before you even do. She doesn't ignore everything but the math, either. She'll ask how you are, how your other classes are, when your other midterms and quizzes are so she knows not to overwhelm everyone with too much testing at a time. She checks up on those who miss a class and sees how they're doing, and then is always more than ready to accommodate them with making up assignments or other things. Her tests are incredibly fair and there are never shocking questions you haven't seen before. Everything is straight from class. She brings candy to all tests and encourages us to get as much as we want. She only collects a few assignments, she drops a quiz score, and had two midterms for us that were pretty well spread out. Don't miss out on an opportunity to take Dana. I guarantee she'll become your favorite professor, too, and you'll end up missing her as much as we all do now. Not many teachers excel in both lecturing and caring for their students, but Dana surpasses literally everything I've seen in excellent teachers. You won't regret her!

Dana Paquin was a lucky find. Very smart woman who is young compared to many professors at poly. Being young she has a great sense of what College is like in the 21st century and therefore teaches at a student level. She had types outlines of her lecture that she would pass out everyday so you could actually pay attention to what she was doing and take side notes instead of trying to frantically trying to copy down every little thing. Over all, very good, you will not be disappointed.

Dana Paquin is an awesome teacher. She is very clear at showing the information, even though the information in this class can be very bewildering. 244 is not really all that hard, its simply just a lot of manipulation of basic algebra that you have to memorize. Dr. Paquin is highly knowledgeable about the linear analysis material. From what I remember there was almost no question she couldn\'t accurately answer almost instantly after it was asked. She\'s young and somewhat cute and gets along really well with the students in class. However, make sure you stay attentive – sometimes the material can get a little complex and if you lose track of it even for a minute it might throw you off. If you can keep up with her lectures and take good notes, she explains everything very well. If you don\'t like homework and can get by with just the lectures – this is the class for you! The homework isn\'t due, but of course, like any other math class, it\'s highly suggested that you get some practice in and do some of them each week. My problem was that I got a little lazy and stopped doing the homework problems about halfway through the class, which probably wasn\'t the best thing for me (but was nice, as I could be lazier than usual!). Here\'s the major pro for having Dr. Paquin – all the quizzes are open note, so if you take good notes and copy everything down that she writes on the board each day you\'ll be able to easily ace them. Also worth noting is the fact that many of the quiz questions come directly from those assigned to us as homework problems, so if you do all the homework, you\'ve pretty much done most of the upcoming quiz questions and can simply copy them down on the quiz. The only thing that can be somewhat tricky are the true/false questions at the end of each quiz – those really test your knowledge about the subject and it\'s unlikely the homework will cover these. Then there are the tests. Dr. Paquin can produce some difficult exams, so yes, you better study and prepare for them if you aren\'t as confident about math as other students may be. For instance, the final was hard – in fact I think I pretty much outright failed that thing, knocking my entire class grade down from a nice B to a distasteful C! Finally, a major component of the class that really made it stand out from previous math courses (like calcs 1 through 4) were the weekly lab days. If you get good partners to help you on these “projects”, they can definitely boost your grade as they can be easy A\'s if you\'re responsible about getting them done. However, during lecture, it would be sometimes awkward when Dr. Paquin says all of a sudden for us to practice a few problems in our groups, and since nobody\'s really sitting near their lab partners, everyone stays quiet and doesn\'t collaborate like she\'d assumingly like, which can be a little weird. Overall, Paquin was one of the better math teachers I\'ve had at Poly – take her if you can!

The tests themselves are very fairly written and graded, and you can be more than prepared for them. If you have any trouble with the material you can always go into her office hours and she will explain anything to you in as much detail as you need.
