Dr. Robins was an incredibly well-informed lab professor. Given that Chem 127 has a lot of information to sift through, she definitely helped with sorting through the jargon and things that you didn't need. In lab, she is more than helpful, keeping an open mind to those that ask questions. Dr. Robins won't just give you the answer, but rather asks you questions right back, working with you until you figure out what you need to know. The only thing that were fairly challenging at times were the quizzes. I would definitely take Dr. Robins again!

Dr. Robins is an amazing lecturer, and is fairly decent at explaining the labs, as well as clarifying any questions students may have. Be aware that her exams are extremely difficult, unless you are able to memorize and understand everything in the notes. It is very hard to dislike this professor, however I strongly dislike her exams. Take her if you want to really understand or are good at Biochemistry and test taking.

This class was very interesting, but a lot of work. Everyone in my class that I\'ve talked to somehow ended up getting a C. Robins is a cool person and a good teacher but her tests can be tricky. Study more for the final then you think you need to because it\'s 10 times harder then the midterms.

She is a horrible professor. Her lectures do not help you understand the course material, nor do they help you for the test. She wont answer questions during exams and she tells you if you do the suggested practice problems you will be prepared for the exams. NO...well at least not for her exams..oh and she doesnt do partial credit for problems, you either get it completely right or not at all......

I LOVE Dr. Robins. She is the cutest professor ever. She is so bubbly and approachable. Her lectures are extremely clear and straight forward. She will stay after class and help you until you understand the material. She is extremely passionate about her subject and her students success. There are 2 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. She gives out very helpful worksheets and HW problems that are exactly like her test questions. I highly recommend taking her. I wish I could take her for every CHEM class!

Educated woman but is incapable of teaching. She has scattered information that is innaccurate information all over the board. Also her exams are extremely poorly written. You can never tell what she is trying to ask or the answer that she is looking for does not math up with how she asked the question. Doesn't give partial credit and also is just as bad in lab.

I have never had such an incapable professor at Cal Poly. I have had lazy professors, and professors that were very challenging, but never had one like her. She always makes mistakes on the board during lecture and confuses her students. I wish that I had read more of her reviews because you may come out of lecture thinking you understood her examples, but when you get to exams you realize that a lot of the times that based on the question she asks the answer she expects of you is hit or miss because there was nothing in the question to lead you to be able to have the right answer. She also will realize that she didn't word the question well or left out important information to be able to solve a problem, yet she doesn't throw that question out nor does she attempt to write her future exams more carefully. She thinks that it is her students' problem and not her own...Future students, when thinking of taking this class, be prepared to learn on your own and not let your exam grades bring you down because they are by no means a reflection of your knowledge of Biochemistry. They are a reflection of whether or not you get lucky and word your answers exactly as her scatter-brain does.

To all the students saying that Robins is an incapable teacher, I don't know what class they were sitting in because I thought Robins was an excellent teacher who was able to present the material very clearly. Her notes were extremely organized and going to her office hours helped tremendously. She is so very sweet as a person and not only is a great professor and good at explaining the material (which she clearly knows well), but she is also a great person to discuss outside of class topics. I loved taking this class and wish it didn't have to end. The only recommendation I would have is memorize all your notes because the exams can be a little tricky if you missed a few details while studying. I am not a chemistry major or a biology major and was able to understand the material because of Robins!

Dr. Robins clearly has a passion for Biochemistry and it's hard to criticize her because you can tell she wants her students to like her, however I don't think she is a great teacher nor does she respond well or make changes based on her part to alleviate student difficulties. Her lectures were organized, but she would often make mistakes on the board that she wouldn't recognize and would confuse students. She was not very approachable (personally I never went to her for questions because I witnessed her rudely put a student down and be mean to that student for the rest of the quarter). Also the way she phrases quiz and exam questions is not clear. She doesn't realize that by the way she asked a question, the answer she is saying is correct is technically not correct and thus she would mark students off for answers that were correct based on how she worded a question. She also was not consistent or fair with her grading.I got lucky, another person and I put nearly the exact same answer, but I got almost all credit and then this other person got none. Also she will take points off for the same mistake or error carried forward. If you are going to take this class you must be prepared to literally memorize everything she "teaches" you even if your book or another legitimate source says it is incorrect because she does not like to be told she is wrong. Some heavily weighted questions on the test may be based on one minute fact she hardly covered in lecture and will want you to understand a more complex version that what she went over. Be prepared to work incredibly hard to learn material how she would ask it. Her final was possibly one of the longest and most tedious finals I have ever taken which I don't think hi-lighted the main concepts of the course well.

I thought Professor Robins made biochemistry reasonable and less intimidating. She is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and helpful. You can tell she enjoys the class. She takes the time to get to know all of her students which is very impressive seeing as the class is rather large.

I am taking her for both 371 lecture and lab. Her course has been a lot of fun so far and I wish she was teaching the recitation too. Her attitude and enthusiasm make it easy to get into the material but it also means she can talk too fast. A couple times she has gotten her own notes confused but this is her first quarter so she'll get better I think. She's very easy to approach with questions in the lab. Her grading is fair and the exam material comes from the lecture and the book. Go to class and read the chapters and you'll be fine.

Her instruction of 371 was interesting and helpful. The course also provided excellent preparation for 372 and 373. This is a great course and Dr. Robin\'s enthusiasm and knowledge inspired me to master the course material.

Very unorganized and forgetful person! Does not seem confident with the material she is teaching. I would rather take Dr. Goers or Dr. Rice for chem 371 at least they are knowledgable about undergraduate level biochemistry.

Dr. Robins is an amazing professor who\'s energy and excitement can make even a 7 am class bearable. Her notes were extremely organized and she always answered questions as best she could. Her tests were fairly challenging but actually required you to understand biochemical processes instead of just memorizing them. I would recommend her to anyone in a heart beat.

First off, Metabolism is one of the most difficult courses you will have to take. There is a ton of material and the course relies a lot on what we learned in O-Chem. Dr. Robins was a really good professor for the course. She knows metabolism really well and is very willing to help outside of class during her office hours. The quizzes in this course were of intermediate difficulty and the exams were pretty difficult. However, you will leave the course knowing metabolism so it it is rewarding. Expect to spend a lot of time studying. Dr. Robins lectures are very engaging and she makes the material interesting. She brought us scantrons for the final, which was really nice to spare us the extra expense.
