This class was pretty cool up until the final. There are usually 2 homeworks due each week which are not bad at all if you do the reading. Then there are 2 midterms both of which again are easy if you do the reading. We had 2 hours for the midterms and I would always finish in an hour or less. I had an A going into the final and he told us that the final would be exactly like the midterms and homework. No. It took me all 3 hours to do the final and I didn\'t even finish. The midterms, homework, and final are all online, which is nice because you can use your notes and the book. But the final consisted of material that we hadn\'t gone over or material that we just barely went over. He\'s a nice guy and willing to help you understand the material. Over all I would say take the class, just make sure you have an A before the final.

His class was cake until the final. The workload is extremely do-able, having homework due every Monday and Wednesday. Every homework and test is online, open note, open book, etc. and if you miss a class, it\'s okay! because he records each lecture and puts it on blackboard. Every homework was able to be done twice, so you\'re ensured 100% on each assignment, and the quizzes and tests were almost identical to the homework. I had a 99.7% going into the final, but after spending the entire 3 hours on it, and not even finishing, a test that didn\'t resemble any of the homework, notes, book examples, or practice tests, I came out of the class with an 89.4%, which pissed me off because I had such a high grade the entire time. But, because other people had the same thing happen to them, Simon rounded all the grades up, and curved the final for, as he would put it, \"maximum success.\" Definitely take the class from Simon. He\'s a super helpful, very accommodating, and nice person. Just make sure to keep your grade up the entire quarter (which is very easy to do) and you\'ll be golden. :)

Never even opened the book, aced both online midterms in about 30 mins each, and had a 99% hw grade. The only hard part about this class was the final and he curved it anyways so it wasn\'t a big deal. He\'s a very nice guy and unfortunately teaches a boring subject but he does all he can to help his students. I would recommend him fosho.

I took this class as a support for my major and I'd read reviews about 212 saying that it was super easy since he collects the homework at the end of the quarter and that both midterms are online. However, he is a terrible teacher. The online tests are usually 20 multiple choice questions or less but somehow he manages to mispel answers and leave out important information. I usually scored about a 60% on each test and would end up with an 80% since he had to throw out a lot of questions. Most people end up taking the test in huge groups together and getting a good grade by the process of elimination. So basically, cheaters do prosper in college.

if you do not cheat you will fail because he does not teach the material. it is hard to follow and he is disorganized with his approach to explain homework and notes.

Don't expect to have him reply to emails. You have to cheat to do well. If you don't like to go to class take this class. He LOVES to cancel. Worst class ever.

This is by far the worst class I have taken at Cal Poly. First off, he basically gives you permission to cheat on the midterms. He gives you a booklet where you do all of your homework and turn it in at the end of the quarter and he says he will give you the answers in class so it should be easy right? WRONG! Sometimes you can't even open the files and if you do get them opened there are no side notes to help you understand it. He began the quarter by saying he wanted to make business accounting as easy as possible, but he's full of it. He cancelled class the period before a midterm, the midterm was online so again we had no class. Then he cancelled class again that wednesday and then both classes the next week as well. How am I supposed to do this homework when he isn't even going to class. Not that I learned anything anyways. This class was a pre-req for another class I need to take and I don't feel at all prepared to take on the next course. I'm in college and I'm broke and I seriously can't afford to have teachers like him wasting my time and money. He owe's me almost $500 back on my tuition. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY.

the absolute worst professor you can take at poly. last year he decided just to give everyone As. this quarter, not so much. got A's on both midterms (which btw are such ridiculously hard if you dont cheat). i doubt he even grade the final project and reader because he gave everyone the same grade. DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. waste of money.

Terrible teacher. He wears white pant suits and Gucci shoes and NEVER shows up to class. Literally never comes to class, he maybe came to class like 4 times the whole entire quarter. JOKE class but don't think it's an easy A. He expects you to know the material even though he never taught it. The midterms are online and you obviously can " use your resources " but still they are impossible. There's no final and there is a group project at the end that is easy enough.

Simon is a super cool guy. He is really nice and tries to keep the attention of the class, but at 8am its hard for people to want to show. He gives homework assignments but he does the answers in class(turn in HW all together at end of quarter). Midterm and final are online and hard but easy if you use your resources. Easiest A at Poly I've gotten where i spent maybe 10 hours all quarter for this class

He cancelled almost half of our classes and I learned nothing. His accent is hard to understand and he never showed good examples. I felt like he really didn't care about teaching this class which was frustrating because I need to learn the stuff he's trying to teach he just was really really bad at it. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN HELP IT. TAKE ANOTHER TEAHER!!

Dr Simon was in his first quarter at Poly this spring (08) so he might get better in the future. But as it is you may as well teach yourself. His writing on the board is illegible. He has powerpoint printouts but I didnt use them. I read the book. He pretty much tells you exactly whats gonna be on the exam though. He also curved the class because most of the people were gonna fail. I think a lot of the people in that class didnt try very hard though so it wasnt hard to be on top of the curve. Nice guy though.

Simon is a good professor, but he made BUS 214 too easy and used a relative scale of grading (percentile of class instead of point percentage). The combination of these two made people question their grade throughout the whole quarter, because it seemed impossible that anyone was doing worse than A\'s on either of the midterms or any homework. At the end of the quarter there is a big group project, so that is very important to do well on. Overall, this class was an easy A. His two 20 point multiple choice midterms were copied directly from the book\'s quizzes and quick checks, so be sure to study those!

Simon is a very easy teacher and very easy to get at least a B. He had 2 midterms and a final and the midterms were identical to the practice tests that we did in class. His lectures are boring and he gets confused a lot when he teaches, which reflects in even more confusion to his students. The only reason the entire class didnt get an A is because his grading was based on a curve so only the top 23% of the class got As. Again, Simon is very easy but you will not learn much at all and you will be very lost and confused when you get to higher level accounting classes.

The class consisted of: 6 assignments(collected at the end of the quarter) 2 online midterms 1 in class final Andreas Simon is quite possibly the most confusing professor I have ever had. You can't see his handwriting on the white boards, there are many typos on his midterms and he presents a lot of irrelevant and ungraded material. The only reason I recieved a B in the class is because both of my parents are accountants, so they helped me through the class. Even they referred to him as (for lack of a better word) "a fucking moron." So, if you plan on taking BUS 214, try to get into ANY professor's class other than his. I am royally fucked for managerial accounting.

The class was a piece of cake until the final. Midterms were online, open book/open notes and very reflective of the class material. I went in to the final with a 97%, and came out of it with a D. The final was not reflective of class material, and did not follow the format we were told. A week before, Dr. Simon said the final would be 30 multiple choice similar to the midterms. The day of the final, it was 15 multiple choice, 14 of which were nothing like anything on any midterm or homework, and one essay on a topic that was not discussed in class. Additionally, he does not take the time to explain many concepts that you need to do the homework and midterms. Class is a waste of time. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. YOU WILL NOT LEARN.

The worst teacher i have had at poly. 2 online midterms which were not really related to the material presented in class, but they were still easy because of it was open book/note. There were 6 HW assignments that were collected at the end of the quarter. He did not teach us how to do them before they were assigned...however, he did go over them so if you show up to class, you will get 100% on it. I got 100% on both midterms and the HW. Pretty easy stuff and I thought I had a for sure A in the class going into the final. The final was not related to the midterms, hw, or class material and was absolutely ridiculous. The whole class was a joke and the final was the hardest and most unrelated test I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE SIMON. Horrible teacher.

The entire quarter I really thought that I had learned the material that Simon was presenting, and it was not until the final that I realized he had taught us nothing, and I knew nothing. The reviews below got it right--2 online, easy midterms and homework throughout the quarter that he went over in class, somehow managing to not explain it very well. I had a 93% going into the final and ended up with a C-. That really shouldn't happen in any class. An A in a class going into the final should signify that you know the material well--which is why having a final that posed COMPLETELY DIFFERENT questions unrelated to the class was ridiculous. Hardest final I have taken for what I thought was the easiest class.

Dr. Simon is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Period. Do not take him for 214, you won't learn anything about accounting. I just retook the class, and over half of the material I learned was never presented by Dr. Simon. He even writes his own book, which when compared to other accounting text books, lacks the majority of concepts needed to actually learn the subject. The homework and online midterms are incredibly easy, when you can do them in the library using other accounting textbooks and the internet. The final is impossible. I went from a 97% to a 68% with the final, as did the other three people in my study group for the class.

doesn't teach too much about accounting, but the class was incredibly easy as long as you paid attention - the class was a 2 hour class but we got out an hour early most days and class was canceled 4 or 5 times the quarter. A lot of people bombed the midterms, but they were on their computers the whole time. Just pay attention and do the easy assignments, and its an easy A

He is a terrible lecturer who cannot stay on topic or engage the class (although in all fairness accounting is hard to make exciting). I doubt anyone in the class legitimately learned anything, but he curved every exam so much that it did not matter.I went to class (excluding midterm, finals, and the first day) twice the entire quarter and pulled a B. Knowing this, I would take him again just because of what a joke the class was to pass.

He makes you buy a 40 dollar book that he created himself. Accounting is super boring; at least he tried to make it fun. He canceled class a lot as well.. He also changes the curriculum a lot.

Simon is a nice guy, but a terrible, terrible, teacher. I came out of this class knowing absolutely nothing about accounting. I also got As on both midterms, and then failed the final, which he admitted a TA wrote, but refused to curve despite a large number of students not passing it. After taking corporate finance, I realized that Simon was actually teaching a lot of finance concepts, not accounting. He spent the first few weeks of class teaching us about time value of money and stock valuation. Which really doesn't help when it comes time to take 215.
