she doesnt really know what she talks about. if you sit further back than the 3rd row you cant hear her, partly because she talks with her mouth half closed. Louise's lectures make half the class sleep which is pretty bad for a proffesor who has been here for such a long time.

She seems to have a genuine love for Landscape Architecture, but also a genuine disinterest in this class; she comes unprepared every day, usually cutting into 5 or 10 minutes of class time trying to figure out how to work her computer. she "just couldnt give us a written exam because it would take her forever to grade them all", instead we had a multiple choice test which is fine- but we had to stand in two lines, collect our tests page by page, and staple them all together before we sat down to take the dang thing! I'd describe her as lazy, unorganized, and very casual in her presentations. Personality wise-she's pleasant enough, but its hard to swallow the fact that we're shelling out as much money as we are to be at this well renowned school- when we have to sit through a class thats totally unstructured, and basic enough for a 9 year old- especially when its so apparent that the professor doesnt really care about the class.

Wow. Schiller has made me certain that I do not want to be a landscape architect. She does not show very much enthusiasm in the subject, comes unprepared to class, and is one of the worst teachers I have ever had, mainly because she doesn't TEACH. She rambles on irrelevant, abstract concepts. I believe she read us poems the first few lectures of the quarter. I wish I had known that this class was a complete waste of time, other than it being a required course for the major. There's one midterm, one final, and she gave us the option to do an assignment which she had explained differently the second time she brought it up, two weeks later. SO, good luck to prospective LA majors... just do the pointless weekly readings online and show up to class every once in a while, or get your friends to write your name on the note cards she passes out for attendance. Other than that, just try to maintain your sanity. PEACE

Louise doesn't allow her students to express there opinions, she only listens to you if your ideas agree with hers.

Pretty much a waste of time. Louise is nice and if you talk to her outside of class she is great but in a large class you didn't learn anything and I thought the tests were very ambiguous. I missed the class a lot and did fine though so I guess that's a plus?

She loves Landscape Architecture but does not know how to teach it. The 2 times I tried to go to office hours and made an appointment to see her she did not show up. She doesnt stay on track when giving a lecture and its hard to listen to her monotone voice. Nice lady, not a good teacher

A really nice woman who presents material clearly but midterms are extremely vague and ambiguous. Some of the multiple choice are completely objective

Louise is such a nice and caring lady but she might need to re-evaluate on how she teaches the class. You have to take super detailed notes and she doesn\'t put the power points online, and you need to really know the readings in order to do well on the tests. She asks VERY detailed questions on the tests so memorize every thing, not really the big picture, the smaller details. Taking this class officially made me decide to switch my major from bus to LA, so don\'t be scared! Good Luck!

Ladies and Gentlemen, You will be required to take Louise for LA101 so show up, smile, take heavy, detailed notes as her tests are very difficult espescially for a frshman level class.Sit in front and be polite as you may have to take her again if you are in Landscape Architecture. Louise is, I am sure, a very nice woman and she is a past award winner of a major award, but she cannot teach. If you take her for studio, be ready for a lot of confusion about assignments that have ever changing parameters and fellow students pissed off at her lack of teaching ability. I have her in studio, and we are literally drawing pencil section lines on photocopies of section/elevations pictures because she felt the class lacked an understanding of section drawings when all it was were people did not draw the ground plane dark enough for her so she put us in what I call \'special education\' where she actually slows down her already unmoving pace.. I am sorry, but this woman is sucking all the juicy joy I was begining to have when I came to class. AAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!20,000$ for this??

Do not take this instructor if you can possibly avoid it. She is late to class and unprepared most studio sessions. She is vague about assignments and drags on for hours and hours. When she is giving desk crits, if you are last, you may have to wait two hours after class if you want her help and if you don\'t stay, be prepared for the consequences of your actions.

Overall, Louise was not a bad professor. She has definitely had a lot of work experience in the field of landscape architecture, but that does not make her a great teacher. She just lacks the ability to effectively convey the material to the class. She was an absent-minded, scatter-brained professor. She was often unprepared or late to class, and a few times did not even show up at all. There was also no coordination with our parallel urban design class. Her test was fair, and she grades pretty easy.

Ahhh, Louise, Louise, Louise...we have a rocky relationship. She really is a nice lady--outside of class. She\'s smart, insightful, well-traveled, literate and loves designing, but she CANNOT teach to save her life! If at all possible I will never take her class again, but I feel bad, cuz like I said, she really is sweet outside class. Her expectations of students are waaaayyyyy too high. Basically, she doesn\'t expect any student to be doing any work besides her studio. She\'s disorganized, forgetful, scarily clumsy (hide the cords and sharpies!) and a scathing grader. You\'ve been warned!!!
