Schear is such a great professor! His class is always interesting and he knows how to keeps the attention of his students. I loved going to class every time because he always made it so thought-provoking. The class is based on three in-class essay exams, and he always hands out a study guide before. If you do the readings and participate in class discussions, you'll do great! TAKE PHIL 230 FROM SCHEAR!!!

I guess to be fair, philosophys not my thing. Just trying to get thru a GE. But the tests in this class are hard and the prof doesn't seem that into helping his students. Not a interesting class.

This guy was a joke. He canceled half of his classes for various reasons. He didn't give us a break in the middle of class so we had to sit through almost two hours of unbearable lecture. He wore the same pink shirt to class every single day which bugged me. He turned two midterms into easy one page essays and made the final take home.. This guy is completely useless and shouldn't be teaching at cal poly; i didn't learn one thing.

Completely agree with the statement below me. Good thing the teacher is not teaching here again after this year. He clearly showed no interest in teaching us. We had 7 of the 10 weeks of lecture. Definitely a waste of money if you wanted to learn. As for me, I couldn't care less. I just wanted a good grade. We had 1 midterm, 1 quiz, 2 1-page essays, and a take home final. What a joke.

Since he's left to teach at Oxford University these ratings don't really matter, but oh well. He did cancel class sometimes, but overall it was pretty cool. He is good at teaching and totally knows his shit! He made philosophy somewhat understandable. Anyone who can do that, who cares what they wear?! (Plus, I liked the pink shirt!)
