the good: few hw problems, easy, cares, tries to be thorough, happy to help, friendly the bad: very defensive and nervous, afraid of students (or being in front of group of kids) so always seems a little on edge and if anybody does or seems disrespectful she overreacts a little, probably in an attempt to keep any taking-advantage or racous to start. rules: simple, easy, basic. **BUT** if you have a tendency to forget to turn off ur cell phone or turn the sound off, and get frequent dings and rings and buzzes for texts and calls, leave it at home. if it rings and nobody claims responsibility, the whole class loses 5 (?) points. if you claim it, you lose 5pnts. if you let her answer it, nobody loses points. obviously, she won't yell at ur mom, but i think her evil pleasure is chewing random strangers out on students' phones (hey, we all like to =P.

Anne Woods makes math easy. Her notes are understandable and helps with homework. She's always welling to help and she shines in office hours. Her test aren't tricky and if you are there for lecture and feel your getting the homework then you'll get A's on them. Make sure to always do you homework and pay attention in class. She's really a wonderful women.

She i relentless and unforgiving. I had bronchitis for a week and missed the first midterm. She told me she absoulutely does'nt give makeup exams. I had to withdraw, because there was no way I make a grade.

Anne Woods is an amazing teacher! She was incredibly helpful, patient, and dedicated to her students. I wish I could take all of my math classes with her! Definitely take her; she is one of the best professors I have had at Poly!

I loved Professors Woods. She explains everything very well. Her class is easy as long as you go every week it shouldn't be hard at all. She gives a quiz every week based on the material given that week, not hard at all you can use your notes. She made us cookies and brownies even. Really nice person.

Anne Woods is a fantastic math teacher. If you have ANY trouble with math, she is the teacher to choose. Ridiculously easy but fun to be around. The homework is not required and there is an opportunity for extra credit every test. She gives you full Review for every test and is extremely easy to understand. Best math class I have ever taken. I HIGHLY recommend Woods.

Anne is very kind and helpful. She explains the material very well and is always willing to clarify. As long as you don't challenge her such as on the way she grades, she is always easy going and an overall great professor. I would definitely recommend taking her class.

Professor Woods is a great teacher. I highly recommend her to everyone. She is very understanding and teaches well. Her class is mainly a quiz every week, but you get to decide what day and use your notes. Not hard at all. She gave 2 mid-terms and had review days. She asks for questions about the homework in the beginning of class if anyone needs help. Very understanding and easy to understand.

Ok so I HATE math with a passion, but I ended up with Anne as my teacher for Math 117 and she was great. She was really helpful both in class and in her office hour. She makes sure to go over things many times to ensure that everyone understands. And when someone was still unsure, she did not make you feel stupid when you asked a question. She was a great teacher and was very personable. She even brings in baked goods certain days out of the quarter.

Directions: Do not leave answer in mixed fraction or decimal form and simplify all answers. *Answer is a Mixed fraction! *Decides to leave it as a Mixed Fraction. Gets full credit on the problem. *Next text leaves answer in mixed fraction form. Gets 1/5 points on the problem. *Confrontation with teacher impossible due to massive influx of Calc students and professor's inability to give a shit. I can understand getting 1/5 points for forgetting to simplify the answer because obviously it demonstrates my inability to do and knowledge of any math at all and it's in the directions but I'll be damned if I get full points for leaving a answer in a mixed fraction form! Key to professors mind: Animals > Students, She stated that she longs for the zoo rather than the school.

Anne Woods tries to talk in a "sweet" voice until something/someone sets her off--she blew up out of nowhere at our class because no one understood what she was asking. Then one morning she failed to show up as we all waited for 20 minutes. She is unreasonable...judgmental and hard on the eyes. Try going for someone different if you can. Also it's odd that a professor teaches 117...all the others are grad students. My F was earned because I devoted absolutely no time to the class. Otherwise I'm sure I could have pulled a B. Just realize that she tests on formulas and ability to memorize math definitions.

Woods was an okay teacher to me. She is wonderful to be around and very personable. She knows how to present the material in class but will give the easiest examples from the book or her own easy examples but the problems on tests and quizzes will look nothing like the examples, they are much harder. Homework is assigned but never collected, quizzes every friday that are open book and notes, and tests every few chapters.

At the beginning of class you can count on her wasting 15 mins bitching about how her day has gone and how hard it is to grade papers like it is our fault for her problems. this got really old really fast. I didnt need to take this class but did because i wanted an easy first college math class. She said if we already knew the information we could leave and not waste our time and only come weds when we had quizes. I still went everyday, a few times i fell asleep and she kicked me out for the day. One day I left the last five minutes of class because she was writing the homework on the board, which she doesnt collect. She saw me leave and decided to give out a quiz asking our favorite color just to spite me for leaving. Anne Woods is childish, taking everything personal and unfit to be a teacher.

She tries to connect to her class, updating them about her day so that they know what mood she’s in. She demands respect and deserves it as a teacher. She tells the class that if they are not going to respect her as she teaches, then not to show up. Yet people would still show up and be disrespectful, so she rewards those students who are respectful. So show up, listen, stay awake, and you should go very far. This is my second time around learning Calc, and she made it much more manageable and easier to understand. She doesn’t collect homework, but it helps for the quizzes and midterms. I wish she was teaching Calc again next quarter, but she has decided not to. But I would still recommend her for other classes.

She is pretty nice, can been moody sometimes when students talk while she is teaching but if your respectful she is really nice. Her tests arent to hard either, and she doesnt assign any homework which is always nice. If you study all the problems she goes over in class than this should be a relatively easy A

Ok, I'm not sure why all of these poly ratings are good??? This professor is THE. MEANEST. WOMAN. ever. I'm one of those students who goes to class on time, gets good grades, doesn't talk when I'm not supposed to, etc, etc... and she was ALWAYS trying to accuse me of cheating when there was no reason for it. Also, she didn't tell us we couldn't use calculators on the exam so marked a bunch of people WAY off for having them out. EVERY day you will have to listen to her bitch and whine about how horrible her life is, TOTALLY wasting your time and money. Also, if people are absent she will give this obscenely high-pointed quiz that will be something stupid like what's your favorite color? and you will lose huuuuge amounts of points if you miss it. not to mention on about three occasions she kicked my entire class out because it seemed like we "weren't paying attention" because we weren't asking questions. So.... let me sum this up. SHE IS INSANE. I don't even normally use poly ratings but I just want to warn everyone how HORRIBLE my experience was with her every single class period.

Annie Woods was an amazing math teacher! I was dreading business calculus but with Annie as the teacher, the class couldn't have been an easier! She explains things really well and does not make it complicated! She gives a quiz at the end of every week and they really help you prepare for the tests! Homework is optional but that help a lot too! She always did a full class of review for the test which really helped. The tests were not too bad, definitely manageable. If you go to class and pay attention there is no way that you shouldn't pass! I have really enjoyed math 221 with her and she is definitely the best math teacher i've had a poly so far! i wish i had known about her earlier!

I took Anne for a stats class at Cuesta. I just had to write and let people at Cal Poly know about my great experience with her. I was really scared to take stats because of all the horror stories I'd heard. But Anne was a good teacher in explaining things in a way that I could understand. I felt her tests were fair. She definitely will help you if show you want to seriously learn. She doesn't put up with people's crap. If you act mature and are respectful she is the same towards you. She is a very fair person. She's young and I'm sure people think they can take advantage of her so she leans more on the strict side.
