Steve is a good goy, he works hard to make sure you understand. Weekly quizzes every friday which are easy if you know how to do what you learned that week. The quiz questions are usually very simple and basic for what you learned. Midterms are a bit harder but if you do all the hw and know it, you'll do fine. Weekly hw can seem like alot but just try not to save it for the last night. You will be glad you have this teacher.

He's pretty much a bad ass, Actually cares if you understand or not, knows what he's talking about, and teaches really well. Quiz weekly easy if you pay attention. Probly would have gotten an A if i went to class every day.

WOW. I've had professors that set the bar way too high and some that have set them way too low. Strand puts it just beyond what you THINK you can do. It's like dunking on a fisher price b-ball hoop for the teachers who set the bar low. Ya, you can dunk, but it's for kids. Then you have the teachers that set it way too high and you know you will never be able to dunk, so you just sit back and shoot the jumper and hope it goes in. Strand sets the rim just out of reach. If you try really hard and you dunk, it feels extremely satisfying! I worked harder in this class than in any other class in my life and it paid off. In the homework is where you will find the hardest problems in the class. Occasionally, he will put a toughie on a test, but if you have been doing the homework, you might be able to tackle it in time on a test. The best part is that he writes the final to be an hour and a half long, so even if you are slow you will still have plenty of time. He is great at explaining concepts during lecture and is funny as well. He is really interested in what he is teaching and it shows. I learned so much and had fun doing it. Great teacher! Made me feel like I can dunk!

grade policy is awesome. definetly take this teacher! He actually wants you to pass, so study hard! Not like the previous math teachers, so take him and you'll do well for sure. Just study his material and you should be fine. Best Calculus Teacher there at Poly!

I really liked Strand. He's fairly young so he remembers being a student, and caters to that. He assigns one homework assignment per week, and there were 3 midterms and quizzes at the end of every week, with maybe 1 or 2 pop quizzes thrown in there. He presents the material clearly, and if you do and understand the homework the the tests will be easy because they are very straight forward.

Steve kicks ass. He is awesome. I can't begin to explain how cool he is. He's a little nerdy, which is right up my alley. He's not overly or obnoxiously nerdy, but he has a baseball hat with the Batman logo on the front that says POW! on the back. How awesome is that? He's young and interesting and good at making connections with students. The grade is based on weekly quizzes (no collected homework, sucks for me because I'm a slacker and don't do it if it's not required), 2 midterms, and a final. Lowest quiz was dropped. If you get the chance, take Steve Strand and you will not regret it.

Strand is a good teacher, and this was his first time teaching Business Calculus. Pretty straight forward stuff, homework every week and a quiz each week. Sometimes it was hard to pick up on what he was teaching but was understood later on. Fun teacher though and his office hours really helped. I would definitely take him again.

Steve was an awesome calculus professor. I was dreading the class and thought it was going to suck, but Steve was such a great lecturer and person that I did not mind it at all. He makes very fair tests and never throws in any material that he has not gone over. He is also so understanding and was always open to making office hour appointments if I could not make it to his regular office hours. If you want to have a good experience with math, definitely take a class with Steve!!!
