Harding was a good instructor, but emotionally she was a bit bipolar. some days she was overly cheerful and just fun to be around, others she would be much more stern and strict, and would also lock the door the second 8:10am hit and make the late kids take a quiz. she grades fairly and presents the course material in a good way though.

Harding is a solid teacher. She grades fairly hard, but only to the point that a few students don't get A's. One thing that irked me was that she expected us to google a lot of information in class rather than teaching us it. However, in all I did not mind her as a teacher and heard that she was better than Mott.

Professor Harding is a great professor. Granted this is not a hard class, but she will help you if you need it, and she makes the class fun by letting you mess around with the labs a bit.

She has that "I think I'm a cool mom" attitude, but just ends up treating you like a child. The class is easy so there's no way one would mess up teaching unless you tried. Just okay as a person, no judgement on her teaching ability because this wasn't a real class.

I enjoyed every day of this class, probably due to Harding. She knows her stuff, knows how to get it across clearly and does it in a laid back manner. The class itself is actually informative, very easy and minimal in work load, it's every thing an intro class should be. Try to take Harding for it if you can!

Sarah is a super cool lady, but she doesn't clarify things very well. Granted, she's a pretty easy grader and you should be able to easily get an A in this class. One very important thing: HAVE A COMPETENT GROUP ON THE FINAL PROJECT. Your entire grade is pretty much based upon that project and if you are paired with idiots, it will effect you greatly.

This class was pretty easy, and shes a pretty laid-back professor. The only thing that bothered me about this class is the instructions on some assignments. She gives out instructions for one thing, you follow it, and you still manage to do bad. Then when the class average is pretty low, she talks about how only one group went to office hours. I think that is her downfall. I know that if you don't understand something you go to office hours and ask for help, but if you don't give enough information and everyone does bad, then either all the students are idiots or it's the teachers fault. Then she goes on and tells us that it should be common sense to know what to do. Also, her final is mostly true and false and it is vauge. There are questions that are partially right but she still counts them as right even though they are not completely right. So if you happen to stumble into this class and take the final, google how to take true and false question exams, and you will probably do better than studying the material. Also, I feel like if you are freshman in this class you are at a disadvantage. That is because you feel inferior and always think that the upperclassmen are always right.Overall, she knows her stuff but can't give instructions.

This class was pretty chill, and Sarah is a total bro. She's extremely laid back and fun to talk to. She's also extremely helpful in understanding things, though she won't just give you the answer. She guides you to it, which I find to be more valuable. The B in this class is completely on me, I forgot one of the homework assignments and didn't prepare at all for the final.

She's like an annoying mom. Always complaining and blaming everything on the students. She gives you instructions, we all followed them, but still the class average for a C. She then goes looks at the post and realizes shes missing stuff on the requirements. Yup, its all the students fault, none on her what so ever. This class is a joke. She is a joke. That is why she teaches it. She use to work for Chrysler, and still getting sued hahaha.

Sarah is honestly a wonderful instructor; she is a very caring woman and a very understanding person. She really makes the class fun and easy but just make sure you have a good partner for the final project and do not put it off until the end.

Sarah Harding's Intro to ME...this is a 2 unit class and it is just that, but it is NOT an easy A/blowoff class. Sarah is a 'cool mom' type that is fun to talk to, creates a comfortable environment in lab, and does a great job making sure everybody knows the material. this is a great class: you get to learn about most of the branches in ME and get really hands on (taking apart and putting back together engines, programming robots, look at air conditioners). also, in lecture you get a bunch of tips/valuable info about the curriculum. BUT, if Sarah says to do something a certain way, DO IT. she will rip on you if you don't follow her directions. she is a sweet mom, but also a tough woman. if you miss a deadline, you don't get any slack from her. it's amazing how she is so good at both a 'laid back' professor type and then a 'tough boss' type. she cares about her students a lot, almost too much (the whole class will get lectured with her infamous 'disappointed mom' speech). some tips: DO WELL ON THE SPRING LAB AND DON'T PROCRASTINATE ON THE FINAL DESIGN PROJECT.

Professor Harding herself is not a bad professor. However this class is for the most part a waste of time. I learned very little from the labs in class and the lectures served no purpose. Harding is there to make sure you know a little bit about ME in a broad sense but this class does not go into depth of any subject matter. She grades a bit harsh for the purpose of the assignments but you kind just get over that. Mediocre class taught by a good professor.

Harding is a great professor. She is always prepared for class and keeps it real. She has experience in the automobile industry and is great to go to for questions. I've never been to her office hours, but she is always encouraging students to visit. She is sometimes critical about projects during the initial stages, but that only makes for a stronger final project. Several assignments through the quarter, 15 minutes max per. 1 take home midterm. 1 quarter long project. The class was pretty good.

The perfect teacher for ME-234. Really makes the class what it should be a learning experience, in which you are graded on progress and effort. Does a great job connecting with the students by sharing personal industry experiences and bringing in speakers to also share industry related experiences. Reading assignments are graded based on weather your name is pulled out of the hat for that week.

This class is mostly based on group work. You really don\'t get a say in who you\'re with, just what target market you want to design a product for. It seems like this class is alot of work for only 3 units, especially since it\'s supposed to be easy. Harding was a good professor, especially for this type of class. You have to read, because 10% of your grade is based on answering in-class questions if your name is drawn. Overall, not a bad class.

Unlike most people who have taken ME 234 with Sarah, I did not enjoy the class, I did not find it very useful, I did not like her, and I did not like my group. I tried to make small talk often in the 10 minutes before class, but mostly got brushed off. Very subtle but irritating. She'll talk about her experiences, like with chrysler in designing the PT cruiser. She designed a wheel. Incredible... It's cool to hear about possible career paths, but I felt like I was being talked at the entire time. My opinion, whatever it was, was always wrong. She cried multiple times, once sternly telling us how unprofessional we were (Background: One group put a picture of her with her kids in they're presentation! Foolish but not my problem). 1. Use privacy settings. 2. Lead by example. There was no evidence provided to support the design methodology presented. For example we were forced to arbitrarily pick a market before randomly being given a category of product to design. I'm the inventor type and I get as excited by the complexity of a project as I do by it's market potential, and I believe it's better to do this iteratively(for those who've taken Thermo 2 think about the Ericsson Cycle where you switch between infinite compressors and intercoolers to maximize efficiency; you need them both but they push you in slightly different directions). You should make questions, answer them, lead to more questions, etc. i.e. What kind of amazing product ideas do we have? What big markets do they fit? What features are reasonable? Who might like these particular features(which hot markets)? Which features should we therefore keep? and so on... I've been working with a team to build a prototype, and I think of design as a passion of mine. That being said in a concerted effort to organize the design process, ME234 crushed my creativity and inspiration to do just that and we wound up in last place with a crappy design that none of the team members liked or understood. Gotta give her credit for trying though. I know she really wanted to make the class as useful as possible and most people enjoyed it, but utilitarianism screws the outliers.

Sarah means well. But she gets very overly emotional in class. Her grading scale is also irrelevant to every project, she grades based on how much she likes it. Overall she's nice. This class is way more work and time than it should be.

I've had Sarah twice, and both times I earned an A however learned very little from her. She has experience in product design I guess but there was a minimal amount of material that I could apply to engineering in general. Yes, we learned design matrices and conceptual brainstorming things but that is something you can read about on your own and master in a week. She grades based on how "pretty" things are. Personally, I cannot handle her personality but I know other people enjoy her.

Prof Harding is a nice lady. She's very motherly and her class is pretty fun. Theres a logbook that sucks ass, but other than that the class is just three group projects which she grades pretty easily. Not hard to get an A in the class. Nice lady, easy class. Win-win.

i've had Harding for 229 and now 234. my view on her remains the same. she is an extremely caring professor that wants to push you to succeed. you won't be getting an easy A in the class unless you follow her directions explicitly, exceed her expectations, and only after you get a 'disappointed mom' lecture, then will you get an A. she is super nice and easy to talk to, but don't let that trick you into thinking she is a pushover. bc Sarah Harding is definitely not that. go into office hours for report guidelines. put some effort in your logbook. show that you care. and she will respect you.

It's not that Harding is a bad teacher, it's just the way ME 240 is run it's pretty much one big group project. So hopefully you'll get lucky and get in a hard working group because if you don't you're pretty much screwed. Getting a B requires a fair amount of effort, while getting an A is nearly impossible. Considering how easy the material is it's really frustrating when she grades as hard as she does on group projects and presentations. She's picky and extremely detail oriented when it comes to your project so make sure you cover ALL your bases. Other than that though she's easy to get along with and she tries to make her lectures fun.
