CHEM 110

Pinnow reminds me of a high school or middle school professor. She is nice, gives too many quizzes for both lecture and lab (especially lab, she has "questions of the day" which are pretty much quizzes about the lab), and has favorites which she talks to all the time during class. Her 110 class was difficult, the average on the second midterm was a 67%, which is ridiculous for 110 GE class. She finally realized that students were having trouble and gave us extra credit and made the last quiz a take home worksheet. She is always available and helpful when you go to her with questions, she just requires a lot of work and time for the class.

Pinnow is a Badass! She's leaving for Minnesota, and Cal Poly will be missing a good one! She expects a lot, but she in an awesome teacher!! She enjoyed being harassed by me during lab, and then helped me anytime I asked her for help during office hours, which she has a lot of!!! She is the MOST ORGANIZED teacher EVER! She gets grades up before you can count to 30, she has tests ready to hand back the next class, and she knows every student, so she passes them back to you as you come in the door, because she knows excatly who you are! She's awesome! Saint Catherine's in getting a real Prize Winner!!! More teachers at Cal Poly should take a page out of Pinnow's playbook, and man up and be a great teacher!!!! Pinnow, you rock!

Wow. Is this the same person? Pinnow must be bitter about teaching my lab or something... I have never encountered any professor so condecending and rude before! She confuses the hell out of people during her recitation then is of little to no help during the lab itself. Half the time I'm not really sure she even knows what we're supposed to be doing. Then when you ask a question she responds as if she's bored with you and really couldn't be bothered by something as mundane as teaching chemistry. What's the deal? Everyone else said such nice things... Maybe she just needs a vacation.

She's a decent teacher.. there really is nothing particularly good or bad to say about her. However, annoyingly, if you go to her questioning a grade you got on a particular answer on a test she will just take partial credit points away from other questions

She's a pretty nice woman, and you can't gripe about her lectures because I'm pretty sure the whole CHEM department shares lectures, and if not lectures, tests because if you collaborate with your friends who had the test earlier than you you can usually figure out what will be on your exam. The class picks off pretty much right after high school chem so if you don't remember that, it will be tough. Overall a fine professor who is pretty nice.

Dr. Pinnow is an excellent teacher. She is extremely reasonable and knows the difficulty of the class which is rare in professors. Her homework load isn't bad but if you procrastinate it will get you. She has weekly quizzes which are not bad if you study her lecture. I did not think the book was useful at all and just used her lecture to study. Yes! she curves which is always good. What I felt was unique about her is her ability to recognize what we are here for and use that in her class. For example she knows this is engineering chemistry and won't waste your time on things that doesn't relate to it, and other professors might make you do it. Overall, I enjoyed the class and the only negative thing to say about the class is that it has a 2 hour lecture which can be uncomfortable.

Pinnow is a good teacher. She understands how demanding chem 124 is. there wasn't that much homework only workbooks. the quizzes basically come off her lecture and she doesn't curve on quizzes or test but curves for the overall class. she's helpful in office hours. go to office hours if you need it, it'll help you alot.

Loved her. The material was made easier by her simple teaching and I really appreciated her sympathy for the class which started at 7:30 and had to sit there for almost 3 hours for mostly a lecture. She said something like "you've gotta be here, so why not just listen and then you dont have to have a hard time later" which is VERY TRUE. So just try to stay awake. The material is also lengthy - Im suprised we got done - but there was a lot crammed in later on. but I thoroughly LOVED PINNOW, DEFINATLY TAKE HER!!!
