While Mr. Webb is a very average teacher, it is important to really pay attention during the class. Unless you are a math wizz, speak up. He gives a lot of homework and it's really important to do them all if you want at least a C. Try to start the homework assignments one class before they're due, even though it's tough. He asks if you have homework questions right before they're due, so there is time during the class you turn you're homework in. His lectures cover the most basic problems, so if you have problems you have to look at the book examples and go to his office hours. He usually tells you exactly what kind of problems there will be on each test, so go over them and you can ask for examples in his office hours. He has around 10 pop quizzes. Expect one each week with a problem similar to the homework assignments. Bottom line, you'll learn more from in office hours than in class.

Class is a joke but go so that you can take the quizzes and get answers to questions. Do the homework. Go to his office hours if you have questions on homework or tests. Easy.

Webb is not a very strong teacher. He more or less explains theories rather than teaches material. He expects you to already know the material. If you did well in precalc in high school you will do fine. Do all the hw and expect a pop quiz once a week.

Webb is helpful guy, however, he doesn't teach the material well. Half of lecture is spent doing homework problems and the other half consists of a quick overview of the slides. I completely agree with the above poster that his class would serve better as a review than a class to begin at. Homework is assigned every lecture and is due the next week. Random problems are selected and graded from each assignment. Extra credit is given out once a while and can be quite challenging. Extra credit is also given for finding errors. Tests problems are generally easier than the homework problems, and he gives a practice test as homework before each midterm and the final. The practice tests are usually very similar to the actual test. Homework questions will also appear on tests. You are given the option to omit a certain amount of "hard" test problems. To conclude, he's a relatively easy professor and good guy to go with if you have taken calculus in high school.

Webb was really cool. He really wants all his students to do really well and pass with a good grade. I got an easy grade. He gave my class two fairly short homework assignments a week which were graded, but they were not graded very hard. He gave practice midterms and finals which were almost exactly like the midterms and finals so it was almost impossible not to get 100% on his tests. and he brought pizza to our class for doing well. He uses good examples in class and overall is a very good easy math teacher. highly recommended if math isnt your strongest

Rob was a really really nice guy. He was extremely helpful and understanding when needed or in office hours. The difficult part about his course was the class time. He would spend most of the time going over homework problems that he hadn\'t pre-done. Therefore, he did the problem wrong most times then had to restart.

Rob was a good guy, but not the best teacher. He would struggle severely on homework questions- sometimes it would take him the full hour of class to figure out one problem. The homework on WebAssign was much more difficult than anything on quizzes, midterms, or the final which gave good preparation for those tests. The material was all review for me from AP Calc in high school, which made things easier. If you don\'t have a good amount of knowledge in Calculus I don\'t recommend taking this professor.

Webb is an awesome teacher. If you have half a brain and do your homework, this class will be easy. And if you dont understand something go to his office hours. Theres no way you should get anything less than a B if you try to learn in this class.

It is a very hard course. I think he is a very good teacher. He will spend time with you in office hours and work problems with you until you get it. The homework is hard and there is alot of it but do it, it helps alot! The tests come almost exactly off of his study guide and that is very helpful. If you do the study guide repeatedly and know how to do all the problems you will pass this class easily! Basically it boils down to the fact that you have to do the work to pass the class.

If you want a teacher who doesn't care if you fail, take Webb. He does not care if you understand the material or not, and he thinks he is explaining things well but does a terrible job. He has random quizes also which he does not give any heads up for. I wouldn't advise taking him if you have never taken a calc class before....Webb sucks

So this Webb guy is a nice enough guy and stuff, and he knows how to do the math but i really dont think he should be teaching this class at a university. The class is two hours long, and i dont think he ever actually kept the class the entire 2 hours which isnt a bad thing, but he really doesnt explain the material well. He will do a problem in class and do it himself, meaning he will talk to himself while doing it. He will just say "ok you do this, then subtract this, do that and this and then your done, any questions?" Now most of the time alot of people that dont know how to do a problem wont raise their hand because they dont wanna be the person who doesnt know how to do it, but its really annoying because he does it ever class and expects you to know how to do it. If you never took calc in highschool i stronly recommend you get a tutor or go to his office weekly or something, or just make sure you dont have this guy as a teacher because hes pretty difficult and the class material is already hard enough. If your pretty good at calc already, then you should take this because the class is really short the quizzes are short, and he always does hw problems on the board in the beginning of class if you ask him to do a few. Good luck!

Rob is one of the most reasonable instructors I've taken at Cal Poly so far. I took him for both Math 118 and Math 221, two days a week for two hours, and rarely did we need to stay for the entire class. He teaches the material in a timely manner and gets straight to the point. As long as you pay some attention to the lecture and follow along with homework questions it is no problem to learn the material. His website contains all of the slides for the lectures, and his tests are composed of extremely similar to identical problems that he uses on lecture examples and quizzes. If you don't do well, it's because you lack the capacity to take in information. He never tries to trick you, just tests you on what he has taught you and most likely shown you 10+ examples of. Homework is reasonable, you have a week to complete it, and he weights your best test score higher than the others. Take Webb.

Webb is a really chill professor and is definitely knowledgeable when it comes to math. The class consists of two midterms, final, homework, and pop quizzes. He sometimes was cool and would hint to the class that he was about to give us a quiz and would go over many problems to make sure that we understood it. His tests are not easy so make sure to study! I went to math study sessions, had personal tutor, and went to his office hours every chance I got. He is a busy guy so make sure to get to his office early so that you can ask him as many questions as you can. As for the comment saying that he doesn’t care about his students…I would STRONGLY disagree! If anything he really does care! I was the very last one to finish my final and he stayed the whole time. Overall, he is a GREAT teacher and if you’re strong in math you should be fine. However, if you’re like me and math doesn’t come natural, just do your best and put in a lot of math studying hours and hope for the best! Good luck in this class

TAKE HIM 2 Midterms and final (you can use a 3x5 notecard!) HW was due each week on friday and was not overburdening at all. This guy is totally reasonable and will work extensively during office hours if you need it. I have taken business calc 2 times before this at poly and he was by far most flexible with grading and overall helpfulness.

Robb was an ok teacher. He was a great guy, but not a very strong teacher. He would spend the entire first half of a two hour lecture going over homework. For some people this works well, but for me it was hard. When the first half of class is going over homework the second half, which is the teaching of new material can be hard to follow. We had 2 midterms, 7 quizes, and a final. Homework was do every week as well. His grading is very lenient in nature. At the end of the quarter he made different grading criteria for each person to raise the grades in the class. The first midterm was very easy but remember to review pre-calc because there were a couple questions regarding it. The second test and final were very difficult. He drops the lowest quiz score as well. Over all Robb was an alright teacher. If you have taken calc before I would certainly recommend him because everyone who had taken calc previously did really well.

The WORST professor at Poly. This guy needs to get his head out of his ass and realize that not everyone knows Calculus at the skill level he does. Suck a dick Webb, I hope you get fired and have a horrible career. Avoid this douche bag at all cost.

You should only take his classes if you are experienced in the subject he is teaching. Rob is a nice guy, and he is reasonable in his grading, but he can't teach! I'm not very good with computers, and I don't get shit in his class. It's all completely foreign to me. He doesn't know how to explain things to people who are not skilled in the subject. You will only benefit from his classes if you already know what's going on and have had prior experience. My classmates are better at explaining the course material than he is, and considerably so.

Rob was a badass. He presented the material pretty well, and when he presented it poorly he allowed students ample time to question what the heck was going on. He was a cool dude, too. The projects were actually fun.

A lot of mixed feelings about Rob. At first I didn't think too highly of him because he couldn't understand that a lot of his students didn't understand what the heck was going on. He was never good at making things too clear, and he never seemed to care about his students at all. He always went way too fast in his lectures and it was hard to keep up. On the positive side, Rob is a super cool guy. He understands where the students are coming from and makes the class passable for those who struggle. He makes you work in groups for the projects which is good because you can pick things up from each other and it almost makes them fun. He's very fair in everything. Cool guy, he just doesn't seem to care a whole lot.
