One of the best teachers I have had thus far at Poly... Was incredibly clear and up front about his policies and grading and seemed to really care about his students and teaching in general. If you do the work, you will get an A. All tests besides the final are online and open book/note. A lot of the questions are hidden in his lectures or the book so pay close attention to both. If you put in the effort, you will not only get an A, but learn a lot of valuable information as well. Perfect elective class for anyone in COMS or any other major intersted in the subject.

Swanson is a new prof. to Cal Poly. He clearly loves what he does which makes his class easy to get through. His lectures are straight forward and the tests are taken right from lectures and text (no surprises)

Dr. Swanson is one of the best teachers I've had at Poly. He clearly knows his stuff and is very approachable. Once a week you are in lecture and he uses Powerpoints for his presentations and the other day you are in lab where he lectures a little, but has the students writing or doing other hands-on activities on the computer. Throughout the quarter you are assigned to a group to work on a "Client PR Project" which you present to the class at the end of the quarter. There is a lot of group work. There are a lot of out-of-class and in-class assignments so make sure to keep on top of things by checking Blackboard often.

This is the strangest class. Professor Swanson is a wonderful teacher, but he did not really teach in this class because it was student run. I hated this class...I wish I did not have to take it. We did all this random stuff and labs were sooooo long! All the rest of his classes were so helpful and wonderful, this one was not organized and had really no point to it.
