Dr. Lehr is a kind, sweet individual however the course is not very sweet. Grading is mostly based around mid-terms that have very little practice before hand. I would suggest finding a study buddy that knows Chem to help you out!

This class was extremely easy. There is a quiz each week which she drops the worst two. One irritating thing is that she expects you to memorize unit conversions, such as inches to centimeters or grams to ounces, so actually memorize those. The labs were simple and all work could be done in class. I never did the homework (which isn't graded) and had an A going into the final. The final however was much harder than the weekly quiz, which dropped my grade to an A-. So study hard for the final. Also, class was let out whenever you finished your work, which was often very early.

I don't know how you can give Dr. Lehr a bad review. I hate Chemistry, but she did her best to make it easy. She extremely nice and easy to approach with any problems. Although her TA's a fucking assholes. They will mark you down for just about anything. Take her for Chem 110. I'm not sure if a B GE could be any easier.

Very socially awkward to the point of rudeness. This class is definitely on the easy side of a GE, but I don't think it's an easy A. If you don't have much a chem background, it's an easy B-/C+.

So I'm terrible at Chem and I do not like it either. I failed my first attempt to take a gen ed chem, and I was hesitant to take this class after looking at theses polyratings, but I have to say that Lehr completely proved them all wrong. She is amazing at presenting difficult material and makes sure that someone will always help you if you are having a hard time. The LA's were amazing and will not leave the room until you understand the lesson. TAKE LEHR. She may be shy but she knows her stuff and is a great teacher. I didn't expect to do this well in her class and to be honest I owe it all to her.

The class is hard for most people. Being that Lehr is a chemistry teacher she does her best to communicate the material to the average everyday student. The class is not an easy A, but that is at no fault of the teacher.

Dr. Lehr is a very nice woman! She genuinely wants her students to succeed and she does a really good job of making chemistry accessible and relevant for students whose majors are not founded in the sciences. I learned a lot about how the world is structured and made up in her course. Be careful because the class seems deceptively easy in the first few weeks, but it picks up pace very quickly. I wouldn't recommend skipping class as there is a fair amount of lab-based participation points. The midterm is only worth 18% but it was harder than expected. It is relatively easy to maintain an A for the majority of the quarter, but be prepared to put in a LOT of work studying for the final. She made the final extremely challenging (possibly because our class had a higher-than-normal average), and most people's final grades dropped as a result. Overall this class is straightforward and interesting, but some studying is definitely necessary to do welll.

Professor Lehr teaches a very fun class! Although it is hard for most to get an A in the class, she presents the material in a pretty straightforward manner. If you were good at chemistry in High School I highly recommend taking this class! She's very relaxed and wants the students to actually know the material. The labs are pretty fun and are never boring.

Dr. Lehr was the best chemistry teacher I could have asked for. I was very scared to take chem because I had not studied it in over 3 years and am not a science major of any sorts. Dr. Lehr explained the material in such a simple and thorough manner. She was very understanding about the varying levels of knowledge and ability in the class. The quizzes were not that hard. The midterm was not that bad either, but the final (given to ALL chem 110 students) was a bit difficult. Overall, I thought Dr. Lehr was an excellent teacher and made a class that I was scared to take very enjoyable and decently stress-free. (Tip: definitely try and stay on top of the memorization.)

I recommend Dr. Lehr for Chem 110. Dr. Lehr teaches material in a way that is easy to understand. During my chem study sessions (at the lib), my peers who had other chem 110 professors were always confused about the material as their professors either went over the material too fast or went over it terribly. The class consists of lectures and labs. Usually labs don't take a lot of time so many people leave the class thirty minutes to an hour early. Show up to class and do the labs! They're easy points. Lehr gives a quiz every week. Do the homework and look at your in-class notes to prepare. You have to review closely though as some questions test minute details. Don't worry if you fail a quiz: she drops the two lowest quiz scores. I received a 6.8/10 and 7.4/10 on two quizzes but she dropped those so I got an A in the quiz category. The midterm is harder than the quizzes, but they're not impossible. If you review, then you're good. Tip: I highly recommend signing up for the chem 110 study session offered at the library. Even if you don't think you need help, the leader will explain concepts to you in a different way from Lehr that could potentially help you on a quiz. I remembered earning several points higher on the midterm due to study sessions. Also, if you find yourself getting homework questions wrong, seek help immediately. Go to office hours, tutoring, or study sessions. These questions might show up on a quiz.

Lehr is alright, she presents the material clearly, although if she makes a mistake however small she will get confused then a snowball effect occurs where she completely loses her place. The quizzes she gives are easy really its all the material which she lectured on, along with the tests. I would take her for chem 129, although if keeling or schoonover were available they would be top priority.

I had her for both lab and lecture. Let's just say I'm happy to have this class over with. She would attempt to do problems on the board and would often do them wrong. Students always corrected her. She always seemed clueless in lab. Her tests were pretty difficult for how little she taught. I really didn't learn much in this class. She's nice, but don't take her.

Dr. Lehr is a really nice lady and if you go to office hours she will really help you to understand what you're missing. The midterms were not too bad, the final however was a killer. The questions were nothing like the midterms and dropped a lot of peoples grades. Overall, there are better professors to take for this class, but Lehr is ok.

Many people say that Lehr isn't a very good teacher. It is true that she makes mistakes in class... alot. She also makes some material more confusing then it needs to be. All of this is over shadowed by how helpful she is when you go see her during office hours, or even just ask a question during lecture. If you give her a directed question about something specific she will normally answer it in a way that gives you a great understanding of the subject. She's also a nice person to, and tends to know when the class is struggling with something. While I failed miserably on two of the exams, and barely pulled a B on the final, I still managed to get a C+ in the class. She will curve the grades, and generally notices when students really are putting in an A effort and will reward them. If you put in the effort to understand her, and have her support you shes actually a really good teacher.

Lehr is a really great teacher, but her exams are REALLY REALLY hard and very long. Try to do the long answer part before the multiple choice, but you still won\'t finish. Be warned, her exams are nothing like her hw assignments, and her lecture makes the class seem easy. She\'s very knowledgeable though, and she really works with you to make sure you understand the concepts. As long as you read the chapter before the lecture and do a LOT of practice problems, you\'ll be a lot better off that I was.

Lehr was a pretty cool chem professor. It got on my nerves when she messed up calculations on the board a lot, but she did know her stuff. She is easygoing and allows for lots of question asking. Her exams follow the practice questions, so DO them. And make sure you print out the slides, etc. beforehand and study those inside and out. The lab was pretty similar to the lecture. Take her.

Dr. Lehr is an extremely nice woman, but if you do not mind not truly understanding the material this is your person. She is not very clear inher lecture, but her lab is exactly like her lecture which is nice. Her tests are EXTREMELY hard in comparison to her in class quizzes. she dopes not prepare you for the exam if you go into her office hours she is willing to help. In class she messes up on the board alot and she gets run over by the students abit which is sad that students do that. Overall avoid taking her if you are not already good at chem

This class was not easy. It's not so much the material, it's the exams. There are two midterms and a final. The first midterm was almost impossible (I think the average was in the 60's) but the second midterm was a lot better. There is a daily one question quiz and it's easy as long as you look at her handouts ahead of time. She seems really sweet but she isn't very helpful if you ask her questions about the material. Overall, I think she really needs to improve her teaching style. She doesn't curve exams, she curves your overall grade, and the curve is adjusted all the time so you never know what your real grade is. This class was my first C. I definitely would take someone else.

This class was pretty hard and rather confusing. It is definitely a step up from 127. The material seemed to be much more detailed. The concepts weren't too hard to grasp when presented clearly, but Dr. Lehr often times made the material more confusing than it really was. She grades pretty hard on the labs, and her midterms are pretty crazy. The average on the first one was a 63%. She easily got flustered whenever she made a mistake or was asked an odd question, making it harder for us to understand what she was trying to teach. She almost seemed to get intimidated by the class at times. If you can, I'd suggest taking another professor.

Well the problem with Dr. Lehr is that she is too much into her own type of chemistry that she lacks the ability to explain gen chem and clarify issues to the class, with awkward silences and laughs of confusion. she makes lecture seem fairly simple, since class is only 50 mins, and she has these hand out things its seems easy.but when it comes down to exams she doesn't play. THEY ARE RIDICULOUSLY NOTHING LIKE LECTURE. I will admit i did learn a lot, but the exams were more than expected. Her grader is a complete a-hole taking fractions of points on everything. she is not a good instructor. IF POSSIBLE TAKE SOMEONE ELSE, HER STYLE IS VERY BAD AND CLASS IS NOT HELPFUL TOWARDS EXAMS.

Really nice lady but not a great professor. Has difficulty presenting the material and gets lost on the board sometimes. You won't be screwed if you get her but you should know that it will be a lot of work on your part to do well. Do all of the reading before lecture because it will clarify her lectures and help you catch her mistakes. She is rather disorganized. Go to her office hours b/c she's eager to help. Be prepared for lab because there will come a point when she won't answer your questions...at all. This is her method of teaching you to "think for yourself." She gives about 5 quizzes and 3 midterms. Doing the homework helps but you'll still be lost unless you go to office hours. Good luck. She is nice though...eh.

Lehr is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met and have a hard time saying anything bad about her. She does struggle to present the material in a clear manner, but if you do not understand anything, she will go out of her way to get you to understand it. Her class is hard, but definitely not as hard as people make it out to be. Do a little work on your own to clarify the material and do the problems she suggests and you will be completely fine.

lehr is probably the biggest passive agressive bitch of a teacher i have ever encountered in my life. i had her for 129, and she was adequate but now in quant i find her absolutely terrible. i would also like to clarify that i am getting a high b if not a in the course right now so this is not driven by an ulterior motive. basically lehr finds every possible chance to be rude and act as though i am not up to the rigors of her class. she has told me on two separate occasions that this is a weeder class, and has implied that i will soon be weeded out in office hours, when i have done nothing but performed competently in her course. she has also told me im wasting her time when i come into office hours for help when during the entire hour i was the ONLY student who came in. she plays favorites like no other, so basically if youre the typical chem or biochem nerd who is likely as socially awkward as she is im sure you will become one of her favorite pets. overall the chemistry department at poly is amazing and it is lehrs awkward mousy self who needs to be weeded out.

I don't know if she's gotten better over time or if some of these previous reviewers are a little crazy, but I thought Lehr taught quant well. She gives you all the information you need to pass quizzes and exams in lecture, and the tests all seemed fair (but difficult). In lab and office hours she is happy to help, and I have no idea how anyone could find her intimidating. Some advice for people that take her: She writes some tricky questions on exams so make sure you've thought of everything before you go through all the work, and you do have to memorize a lot of things you may not have originally thought you would, so ask ahead of time what you need to know (my only real complaint about her.) And remember, it's curved, and everyone screws up at least once in quant.

Lehr\'s office hours are very helpful. I had class during most of her office hours, but she would let me make an appointment for times that were convenient for me. She\'s just ok at explaining in class, but she will take as much time as needed to thoroughly explain anything in office hours. Quant is difficult but Dr. Lehr really helps you out if you ask and she recognizes that you are trying. Do all her homework, the tests and quizzes are always very similar.

I did not enjoy this class. Dr. Lehr is very sweet, but her uncomfortableness in the classroom makes it hard to ask questions because she gets so flustered trying to understand what you are asking. Lab is really hard and I suggest reading the labs ahead of time and being fully full prepared for them. Also, make sure to take time in lab. Very important. Overall, if you can get a different teacher, I'd recommend it.

Lehr is a very sweet lady, but with that being said she is a terrible teacher. The lecture material that she presents is clear and simple, and then the quizzes and especially tests that she gives are as far from the lecture material as could be. I am a biochem major and truly enjoy my major but she does not make me want to go to class because i simply feel like I am falling behind regardless of the effort I put in. This could be a simple class if it was taught better. If you have the chance, take a different professor.

Basically the class doesn't go over hard material, but she makes it freaking impossible. None of the quizzes or exams are even close to the homework problems you do, or examples in class. She is so nervous and scatter brained that she never is organized for lecture, and if you ask a question in class she gets so flustered she can't answer. I have yet to actually get a helpful explanation out of her in office hours, she always leaves to go do research, like actually every time I've gone to office hours. She literally told us she makes the class as hard as possible. I swear she enjoys failing students. And she's the most socially awkward human I've ever met I physically cringe at her when she attempts to socially interact. SHE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Avoid taking her for lecture if at all possible.

Dr. (does she even deserve that title?) Lehr is, without a doubt, the worst professor I've had. She is very socially awkward which results in her struggling to finish her sentences in class. I couldn't stop laughing the first couple of classes because I thought it was a joke. If you approach her with a question, she will give you little to no help while simultaneously giggling nervously. Also, she makes it clear that this is a weed-out class with the goal average being a 75%. Quantitative Analysis is actually a pretty simple course, but somehow, she manages to make it difficult and confusing. Plan on teaching yourself everything and memorizing her EXACT definitions or she will take off points. Do not take Lehr. You will regret it.

Dr. Lehr is a nice lady but does not present the material clearly. We quickly fell behind in lecture because she would confuse herself and take too long on example problems that she often messes up. The basic conceptual notes aren't too bad and as far as the lecture goes, the concepts are the bulk of what you need to know. For the first midterm, there are a LOT of statistical equations you must memorize. She has an equation sheet but it has very few equations on it. What I ultimately found most helpful to succeed in the class was to rewrite the notes. Pick out the most important information (definitions, requirements for good titrations, equations, etc) and write them in a concise manner. I scored 83% on the first midterm simply because in the jumble of notes we took, I had forgotten about a few concepts that we learned. By the end of the quarter I condensed all the class notes into 4 pages (front and back) of the actual material I needed to know, mainly in quick bullet points. I got a 97.5% on the second midterm and 97% on the final due to this tactic. I never really went to office hours. Do the homework problems because that's all the practice you'll get. Not my favorite class, happy it's over with. Overall, Lehr is okay.

She is a really sweet person and she really cares about her students but she is also really socially awkward and not a good teacher. You can tell that speaking in front of a classroom freaks her out, but she struggles through it anyway. She is really knowledgeable about the subject and provides interesting examples in class, but each class is still essentially an hour of copying down all the notes she writes on the board. To ace her quizzes and exams you have to be able to regurgitate all the information she puts on the board because, if it\'s not in her same exact wording, you only end up getting partial credit.

AWFUL. Scattered lectures that do not prepare well for the exams despite using other resources like the textbook. My major gripe with this course and her style is (as others have said) she grades entirely on her subjective view of your answers. In other words if you study for hours and master the material your work goes entirely to waste because if you write something on the exam in your own words she will subtract 1 point (when the question is worth 2 points total YAY); she gives you an F for the answer because you didn't word it how she prefers. Chemistry isn't about your preference about my answer, its about the answer being right or wrong. She places all of the points on being right -- but being HER kind of right.
