Lonny is a cool guy. he wastes a lot of time though and tended to start class late, but still we were able to get out early. This was the first time he taught this class. He taught it based on Paul Weber\'s material. The class was fairly easy and simple, which is expected for an intro class. Lonny grades fairly and listened to the classes concerns. This was a decent class for a three hour, three day a week class.

I did not like Lonny's style of teaching. It was very lecture heavy and the quizzes and the midterm were pretty difficult for the electrical half of the class. I have no experience in electrical, and he went a little fast for my liking. However, Lonny is super willing to help you when you're not understanding something. My only issue was that I didn't know, what I didn't know. I did well on the quizzes, but totally tanked the midterm. I also did not have the time to study much for this class which was on me. My biggest advice is to ask for sample problems, or to go over material again and again until you get it. A lot of the calculations I couldn't picture and he would just assume we knew what we were doing since no one said anything during class. The thing is, I probably wasn't the only one who didn't get it. He's not a bad person, nor is he a bad professor, he just wasn't my cup of tea. If you know electrical work you'll do well in this class. If this is your first time looking at electrical work, you may struggle just a bit.

People talk crap about Lonny and Thomas Korman (They're very similar in a lot of ways). Yeah, they're both very flexible when it comes to due dates, grading, etc. But you are the same assholes that complain when a teacher grades per the syllabus. I've had Lonny and/or Thomas for three labs, and what you learn is really up to you. If you don't want to learn, you won't. You might get a B, B+, or an A-. But you won't learn. If you pay attention and actually enjoy construction (you did choose this major for a reason), you'll love these two guys. They're fun to talk to, and they have had professional experience. As far as people saying they didn't learn anything in their class... again, that's on you. And I'll let you in on a secret... Having taken Paul's class, Scott's class, and a bunch of other classes, you don't learn shit in class compared to real world experience (internship or full time). That goes for ANY major.
