ok, here goes: Marge has got some issues I think she needs to work through before she continues teaching. that being said: her classes are very easy if you FOLLOW HER RULES. please, for the love of God, FOLLOW HER RULES; show up on time (even though she doesn't, btw, check your email before every class because it is frequently canceled minutes before it is set to start) meet all due dates (there is ZERO flexibility and she will deduct points), if you do not understand an assignment, sit the lady down and work out point by point what you will be expected to turn in and when/how (she's a little vague) do not proceed with a project unless she completely understands it and is interested in it (in my experience, she likes VERY traditional designs/ideas, anything abstract or untried will not fly and if she does not understand your project, your grade will SUFFER). She is very COMPASSIONATE and maternal, to the point that it is a flaw. (She has a tiny problem with boundaries and these are often crossed with TEARS, HUGS, use of the L-WORD, and very uncomfortable compliments at very inappropriate times.) Also, completely unrelated to her teaching abilities, the lady cannot keep a secret. so if you are experiencing some sort of personal issue you don't want the ENTIRE landscape "family" to know about, do not tell Marge, suck it up, figure it out and do not allow it to effect your class with her.

Margarita was really chill. She has opinions about your design, but is very open and willing to listen to your ideas and reasons. Very nice person, and that transfers to her teaching style.

If you have a choice, do not take this professor. I felt like I absolutely learned nothing and was always teaching myself. She assigns 3 major projects which isn't but but she won't give desk crits until like the day before. She was never really around so if you like a teacher like that I guess it's ok, just that you have no idea what you are doing. And she grades on participation even though she's not even there half the time. Just overall a sucky professor, never taking her again!

Even I can teach better than this lady. Every class time with her goes like this: 1. Professor shows up late as usual 2. Gives us bunch of papers, reads them, and takes questions 3. Peace out. Like. Really? Is this what you call teaching? Margarita NEVER gave us a single lecture or taught us how to improve our designs. All she did was bring bunch of books and told us to read them. What the fuck lol. I felt this class was like every man for himself. LA department, if you read this we need new professor right now. Professors like Margarita doesn't teach shit.

HAHA how is she the department head? Does not know how to teach. I hate this bitch fucking penguin bitch wasting my time. I would learn more from a fucking dr seuss book. Bitch makes over $200,000 to eat and sit on her fat ass

Margarita is a good instructor. Although my project was to be self directed, when I had trouble she understood and helped guide me. She will hold you responsible and accountable for your work. If you are a slacker you better go elsewhere. If on the other hand you actually wish to learn something, she is a great resource. Her specialty is cultural environments and so she is a great choice for the Cultural environments studio or ILC. I understand previous comments that were negative. They were probably trying to 'run game' on her. She is direct and fair in her assessments. She can also make you feel very uncomfortable if you come unprepared. You are also required to show up on time and check in for desk crits and lecture The classes rarely run very long so do your work and be prepared and you will do fine.

Professor Hill is not a good teacher to say the least. Im sure that she is a good administrator (head of LA dept) but she is inflexible, incompassionate and extremely strict on attendance. She quite often expected us to stay after 6pm! She is unclear about what she expects from her students. She has no concern for the interest and likability of the class, our site was chosen because she received money from a developer for the dept ($10,000) to produce a master plan in Tracy. While she may have the interest of the students in mind gathering this money, her place is in her high falutin office, not the studio. I would avoid this woman at all costs.

This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!
