cool guy, likes to make the class laugh and has a really laid-back atmosphere. weird grading system though, he averages out all your assignments to letter grades and averages those. so even if you get a 8/10 on one speech and 89/100 on the next, they're both B's and hold the same weight. other than that, chill class.

Professor Hall's class is fairly easy to pass with at least a C or better since as long as you do the speech outline fairly correctly, you'll get at least a C on the speech.

Best teacher ever! This was a class I actually never missed...and I missed my share of others. And in response to other people, i'm a girl and I never thought he was creepy. He might have been easier on the girls than SOME guys, but I'm not sure if it was because of them or us. But still, fun class; you only write 4 speeches and honestly i wrote them all the night before they were due and got A's or B's on them. And I didn't study for the midterm and got a B+. He's a pretty cool guy and isn't like those other teachers that think they know everything. He definitely appreciates sarcasm (or I would have an F) and loves to have fun with the class. Take it!

Awesome teacher that everyone should take. He really tries to relate to his students and I was very impressed by his ability with their public speaking abilities and his ability to help them get over their fears of public speaking also. I highly recommend him not because he is easy, but because he is a nice guy who cares about his students and their understanding of what he is teaching.

You have to do 4 speeches. Usually he doesn't even listen to your whole speech and gives you a grade before you are done. He usually has a grade in mind that he will give you and takes off points accordingly in your speech. Probably one of the laziest teachers at poly. You have 1 midterm(same one every year) and 1 final which is a 4 page waste of time. Easy B.

I had Hall for both 101 and argument and advocacy and really enjoyed his teaching style. He's a younger guy who really knows how to relate each example to students lives. His style made it very clear why taking speech is important in everyday life. He is very chill and open and always willing to help during or after class. There are 4 required speeches each more involved and a multiple choice midterm (same for both classes!) and a take home final. The classroom atmosphere was very fun, it was the kind of class where you think your having too much fun to be learning but then realize you came away with so much knowledge.

Mr. Hall is an excellent speech professor. He really cares about his students and will do everything to help you improve your speaking. He makes you feel comfortable and knowing everyone in the class which creates a class a students who are very open and accepting of each other. He states the goal of his class is to help you get "more of what you want more of the time," and he clearly fulfilled this goal for most of us, given we put time and effort into the class. Speech is not necessarily an easy course, but Mr. Hall does a great job at getting you involved and caring. Mr. Hall makes a disinteresting and seeming unnecessary general ed course feel like something you're glad you actually did. I'd highly recommend Mr. Hall for Speech 102.

HORRIBLE TEACHER. you can pass this class, but you will put up with a DENSE ARROGANT CREEP everyday. Checks out girls in the classroom, tries to act young, but fails miserably. If you take this, all i ask is to not buy into his b.s.

To all the girls who may take his class, be careful this guy is creepy! He thinks he hot (hes not) and he flirts with the all the girls. I didnt learn anything about argument just to give speeches. Whats the point of this class? Hes not even getting a degree in speech hes getting a degree in education so why is he teaching this class?

Take him if you have the chance. Probably the most laid back professor at the school. I took him for SCOM 101 and 126 and received B+'s in both courses. Just do exactly what he asks and you'll do fine. He does take attendance everyday and counts tardiness, but you can miss a couple of classes before it effects your grade.

Mr. Hall does think he's hot and he absolutely isn't. He talks like he's stoned and tries to be cool around the students by calling them "bro". I'm a girl and he even called me that! Overall, Mr. Hall is a lazy teacher. His grading isn't too hard, but as all speech classes are, is totally subjective. He likes to talk about himself, his girlfriend, and his cat when he gets bored lecturing. He says he's trying to give everyone B's so it's almost impossible to get a C and its completely impossible to get an A. Dont take him if you want to learn and get an A in your speech class.

This professor is a total ass! I had to take this class for the ADP program. (It was really IS 350 but that wasn\'t an option in poly ratings) It was online and EVERYONE complained, they were so confused, he had to have a few in-class lectures to explain everything. Let me just tell you, I had him for a previous class and things were the same way. I thought it was just me, and I didn\'t get the material, but the more I listened to my classmates complaints, the more I understood that it wasn\'t me, it was him! He is such a snotty arrogant jerk! He is super LAZY. I would e-mail and ask questions, and he would never write back. He made me feel like I was bothering him and he was just too cool to answer my questions. His work was really stupid and pointless, and totally disorganized. I LEARNED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I worked really hard, and I believe I should get an A, but oh no, of course not,I got a B like everyone else. It makes Cal Poly look bad for even hiring him. He would TOTALLY FLIRT with all the girls in class and then mention he is getting married. WTF? like who cares? Just teach you idiot! He thinks he is way hot and he is not!!!! So please DONT take this arrogant, stuck up SOB. He is really nice at first and the he is CRAZY, PSYCHO, LAZY, STUCK UP, ARROGANT, HEARTLESS, not to mention WAAAAAY STUPID!!!!!!! He really only cares about his image, not his students. Like the below comment, a total douche! Stay away at all costs. Oh and no matter what you do, you will always get a B. He doesn\'t now how to teach so its just easier to give everyone a B. You really have to kiss his ass to get an A.

This guy sucks. He is so full of himself and pompous that it makes class lousy. I got tired of hearing how many times he took girls on dates when he was younger and how cool he was for getting his wife pregnant, "because I'm the one who did it". Furthermore, he thinks the world revolves around his class and his lousy lectures. He will treat you like you are very dumb, and work to embarrass you in front of the whole class. And if you are a girl, he will most likely hit on you and give you a very creepy look and smirk. Avoid him if possible.

This is the first C I have recieved in my entire life. I hope that says something to all of you out there watching their GPA. Do not take him--this class was a nightmare!
